How to spot a pleb

How to spot a pretentious douchebag

are there really people who do these gory model shots?
i'm asking for a friend

Yes; I've shot a few of them before

cool flashing lights and a cool guy playing a pedo

Of course Cred Forums liked it

What meme? It was great.
>those shots
>that soundtrack
Sorry if it's to slow for your tastes.

he's right though

if you still watch movies for plot twists and action then you're dumb

elle fanning is a garbage actor. The movie was a long music video. If you find yourself glossing over the acting when talking about how the movie was great, chances are it was trash.

tl;dr
It is a michael Bay movie with less robots and explosions. I say less robots because of those stiff actresses in it.

what the fuck are you on?

>elle fanning is a garbage actor
she was the only good thing in the movie, even being miscast, and i'm not even a waifufag

I wish I saw it in theaters, now I'll never get to experience it.

let me stare a lot and hopefully that'll make me seem mysterious. She sucked whenever she opened her mouth and sadly not the good kind. She is hot, but not a good actor. Her sister definitely got those genes.

Is it good FapKino at least?

imagine if a pussy had a couple eyeballs right beside it? Performance anxiety.

>let me stare a lot and hopefully that'll make me seem mysterious. She sucked whenever she opened her mouth and sadly not the good kind.
All refn's fault. Watch her in Ginger & Rosa and you'll see she's good under decent direction

You wanna know how I got those scars? Well..

>Elle Fanning during the gold paints scene and catwalk "transformation" scene
>Alessandro Nivola during the tryouts scene
>Abbey Lee after Gigi's suicide
>bad acting
They were light on the dialogue because it was unnecessary. A lot of what was happening and how it was affecting the characters was expressed purely through facial expression.

Artkinofag here, this movie is shit. Only God Forgives was shit too, but at least it had some cool visuals.

Alright, so what did you watch the Neon Demon for? Nothing about it was intellectually stimulating.

...

>Artkinofag
>Watches Kieslowski once
Post 10 of your favorite artkino and i'll judge if you're worthy of that title

What was bad about it? Why can't you mongoloids just put your arguments in the original post instead of forcing others to ask? Do you even have any?

It was pretty, but that's about it. I do think Elle is cute, though, and she showed her feet quite a bit.

>like you won't call anything I like utter shit
No, I won't be baited.

I can't call a good movie shit, then i'd look like a fool wouldn't i? Come on user

it was basically an hour and half version of this

youtube.com/watch?v=s6jaYJx7yeI

No it wasn't. That video does nothing for me. I couldn't even watch till the end.

TND however I've seen 4 times. And I wouldn't mind watching it again.

song by female band that has more insight on female sexuality versus visual porn with actress he wants to bang

The fuck are you talking about? The Neon Demon wasn't about female sexuality. Nor was it trying to be "insightful" in the first place.

what's so great about it? everything is incredibly shallow, even the fact that it's supposed to be shallow

Yeah I fell for the hype
but I never said it was good before (or after) actually seeing it

>he watches films for content and substance what a pleb

wow way to miss the biggest subtext and symbolism the movie has. it's all about innocence and virginity

It's aesthetically pleasing in every way.

If the film is "about" a single thing it's about beauty. Only Elle's character deals with ideas of innocence/virginity.

But saying that a film is "all about" a single thing is stupid.

Noone cares if its good or bad. Elle is a 10/10 and we need to support her and her career and make sure she is successful so we can continue to be blessed with photos of her sexual neck and naked hot feet

Hello Cred Forums

"""""patrician""""" film that devolves into gross out content to seem deep.

Literally no different from Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie which does the same thing but doesn't take itself seriously (making it kino)

>to seem deep.

You are talking nonsense. You are judging the film based on what you IMAGINE the director's intent was.

glib facsimile

Nice meme, mind if I save it?

jesus christ i want to rub my face all over her ass while she farts and giggles

>open thread
>barely any shots of her sluty slutty lewd neck

yes, stay away from it

Everything was great up until right after those bitches ate Jessie. If it had ended there it would've been fine. Instead we get all this crazy bullshit with Jena Malone's character performing some odd moon ritual then menstruating a river, the plastic bitch kills herself, and the last one I guess gives herself over to the metaphorical "demon?" I dunno. I read that the didn't include the necrophilia until they were already shooting that scene, which tells me Refn had no fucking idea what any of the characters were supposed to represent. "Hollywood devours the a young naieve girl." Wouldve been a good enough message. They fucked it up with everything after the cannibalism/shower scene.

Is this really what whiteboys consider the pinnacle of beauty?
In my opinion, she's no better than a 6. She would be a 7 if she didn't look like an ayy lmao

Why couldn't it just have a normal last third? They could have killed her out of jealousy fine but why did they eat her what did that offer apart from making it bizarro, and to then kill themselves.

Also she would never be a model because she has a pig mushroom nose.

nice opinion, want an upvote?

Eat a dick with that meme already
It was not "aesthetically" pleasing, not enough to make that a major point when trying to justify why you think this movie is great.
There was no grandiose imagery, no rare expansive vistas, not even a good use of color variety.
It was stylistic, yeah but there's no excuse; the movie was mediocre at best.
'It stunk' would be a better appraisal

Keanu reeves and the whole predatory aspect of appreciating beauty was unnecessary. The mtn lion was a forced metaphor (Dante-esque, I'm guessing). The three evil women were not fleshed out enough.

It was also unbelievable, he seemed like he didn't know what he was doing in that role

I can't convince you of this any more than I could convince you to like my favourite song as much as I do. Clearly it just doesn't affect you the same way.

>The mtn lion was a forced metaphor
All the metaphors in this film are completely overt and in your face
>The three evil women were not fleshed out enough.
The characters in this movie are representations of ideas, not really real people. Except maybe Ruby.

I wasn't a fan of the ritual/menstruation scene. But the rest of it was fine. They should've stuck with the original script where Ruby is also killed by the other girls.

>It was not "aesthetically" pleasing
4u

That's fine if you believe the characters are definitively representative of one thing or another, but if they are, it's loose at best. And having a character just so you can say "oh well this character is representative of..." isn't avant-grade. It's lazy.

>this character represents why plastic beauty will never be the real thing and the struggle to achieve that is dehumanizing

Yeah. No shit. And we never got past that from the second she's introduced.

I don't get what you mean "past that". The idea itself is enough.

>real Lolita shit man

I dunno how he felt about portraying that character. I guess with lines like that, your acting is either going to be incredibly bland or cartoonish like the meth heads in winter's bone.

No, it can't be. You wasted a whole hour and a half of your life over a film? What a tragedy. Be sure to make a thread about this twice a day for at least a week.

There are some undeniable truths no matter how subjective you claim it is. This movie not being good is one of those truths

You're on the fringe and you are loud. I've seen you in different threads echo the same bullshit reason repeatedly as to why it's good
It isn't and your reasons are weak. You're blowing the things you like about it out of proportion hoping it will eclipse how terrible the rest of it is

Dude, it's just not a great movie. Period.

There was no character to her at all. She was indistiuishable from the other chick. If you're fine with characters being bland representations with ideas, that's fine. I didn't care for The Babadook either since the metaphor was more important than the plot. If I can discern what the movie is trying to say with a character in five minutes, and it never gets much deeper, Im really not too interested. I liked the way they "devoured" Elle fanning's character, but I thought it should've ended there.

Of*

Have you considered stories can not always be character-driven?

>Dude, it's just not a great movie. Period.

You haven't done anything else but call aspects of the film bad in different adjectives. I must have missed the part where you said anything convincing, or any of these "undeniable truths".

It's certainly not plot driven either. The visuals are great, it's not a terrible film. But it has flaws. Big ones.

It's atmosphere driven. The whole film is like a song.

>like a song

yes like Seventeen by Ladytron

Okay we obviously feel differently about it (and probably Refn period). There's no point in continuing this Convo.

Not at all. More like Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by Bach

tfw finally see jenna malones cute little boobz

This film is essentially the culmination of the degeneracy of the past 8 years. The world is falling apart around us, yet this is what we are now/this is what we care about.

I fucking hate you

I have to repeat myself now?
There was nothing to merit your claim it's "aesthetics" were on a level where it overcomes it's bad script, the screenplay which is the true soul of the movie.
Like I said it has a certain style but in your head it has overblown to a point where it's the end-all be-all. Your opinion is warped

Your opinion is warped with the false premise that the screenplay is the "true soul of the movie". I don't believe in such a premise.

Shes only good as a boy honestly.

Did Bach hit a nerve? I'm LMAO'ing at your life, kid.

So you think a director's inspiration is over once the script's locked down? Some of the greatest moments in cinema were on-set inspirations.

the pleb speaks again.

It is.
If in this case it wasn't.. it's a not even a good representation of style over substance

What does "substance" mean?

sub·stance
ˈsəbstəns/
noun
noun: substance; plural noun: substances

1.
a particular kind of matter with uniform properties.
"a steel tube coated with a waxy substance"
synonyms: material, matter, stuff
"an organic substance"
an intoxicating, stimulating, or narcotic chemical or drug, especially an illegal one.
2.
the real physical matter of which a person or thing consists and which has a tangible, solid presence.

The only people who think like this are the people who never read books. Nobody who reads needs cinema to tell stories.

The plot

Not that user, but I think if you've got something as large and focal as a necrophelia scene shot on a whim then it speaks volumes as to how committed the director is to the strength of his original story. It's not a knock against on-set inspiration, but that's sort of a big thing to just decide to add to a film on the day.

The real physical matter of a film is its images and sounds, which are indivisible from its style. Form is content.

That's not helpful at all.

Why is plot important? What makes a good plot?

The necrophilia isn't focal though, it's just the next logical step along the path. Big decisions get made on the set - a screenplay is just a means to an end. Show me a movie that stands on its screenwriting and I'll show you a middlebrow piece of work.

>Why is plot important? What makes a good plot?

fyi: This is the kind of idiot who goes around spamming "aesthetically pleasing" to defend his shit tastes

>I do not read books: the opinion

>I don't have any arguments

That's allright, sport. Better luck next time.

So you've regressed into the lizard portion of your brain.. nice

It's always good to know when I've officially BTFO of somebody

my response was this
There was no BTFO'ing here. You haven't presented any arguments.

meant to quote this

...

The role of the screenplay is to give everyone involved a sense of how the finished object should play, but the screenplay is not the thing, the finished movie is. As Nick Ray said: "It's never all in the script. If it were, why make the movie?"

>Nick Ray

Wow Nick Ray said that?! Incredible, I mean Nick fuckin Ray

Come on people

worst part was Keanu. Elle actually carried herself

this desu

..jesus christ..

>tfw I can form my own opinions of movies without the help of others

>No it wasn't. That video does nothing for me.
That's not the video's fault m8

It's a shit movie but you love it. We all have those, it's okay.

>I dont know what im talking about : the post

No one has put forth a single argument for why it is "shit".

because it's subjective u tard

OGF > Drive >>>>>>>>>> ND

I guess we shouldn't discuss films at all if it's all subjective.

>nothing is happening

heh, nothin' personnel kid

you just dismiss and criticism people put forth so it's pointless.

>"Style over substance"
>"Aspect X of the film is [insert adjective]

These are not arguments. Point to an actual argument.

Plot is important to books. Plot isn't the focal point of great books or great movies, but it's necessary and important. Themes develop around the narrative, with the style working as backbone to keep the work engaging. No great art is style alone. Only pretentious art is style alone.

I love how every time a winding-refn film comes out we have to have these same arguments about what art is and what style and substance are.

>show this to my sister
>"user this sucks why do you even like this? you're just in love with that jessie girl arent you?"
>mfw

She will kick your ass user.

>I love how every time a winding-refn film comes out we have to have these same arguments about what art is and what style and substance are.

Because you start from completely different premises when it comes to art.

>No great art is style alone

What about music?

>Only pretentious art is style alone.

No pretentious art is the kind of art that is trying to have a "message" or make specific "commentary". The kind of bullshit I guess chucklefucks like you enjoy.

>tfw Elle Fanning will never sit on your face and suffocate you to death

I'm genuinly curious what your favorite movies are? What's a movie you like a lot?

Possession (1981)
2001: A Space Odyssey

>high impact sexual themes

So was it dog-fucking or what? I want to see her mounted by a Great Dane

It was fucking incredible. I had eaten a pot brownie before too and during the strobe sequence at the party I experience an out of body sensation completely lost in the visuals and music.

If you didn't see it in theaters, don't bother now

Necrophilia

Not involving Elle

Fuckin post the Webms

Bunch of fags on here tonight

I bet Jena and Elle did it after they got done filming this scene.

>2001
are you the guy I had this same argument with yesterday?

anyway, I respect movies that are great stylistically, and I'll keep watching them and enjoying them, but there is just a whole different kind of film which actually has a plot, characters, development of themes, etc. 2001 is one of them. Haven't seen Possession. Refn films just don't amount to much more than a riff on an atmosphere. They are interesting for what they are, but there are films which are much MORE than a riff on an atmosphere and idea. They take an idea and develop it, and you come out the other side with a solid understanding of the director's perspective.

I think people on this board have a subconcious urge to go against what's popular. I have no doubt despite reception people would still like it, thats not what im saying. But if it had the RT score of Drive as well as Drive's popularity and admiration there would be countless thread's shitting on it and ones saying
>golly gee I just cant understand the hate, wasn't it good?
Would instantly hit page 10.

>and you come out the other side with a solid understanding of the director's perspective.

I don't see how this applies to Kubrick's films, if I understand what you mean by "perspective" correctly. His films are very impersonal.

Refn's films on the other hand are highly personal. With his films you can feel exactly what he was imagining/thinking/feeling when he made the film.

Upskirt bump

Post more rare Elles

such a bad flick

those are some thicc thighs

How? She is a thin, average sized woman. Jesus christ this meme has gone too far. I have even seen someone say
>OMG THICC!!!1
about fucking gal gadot.

Elle will never jerk you off with her freshly pedicured feets

hell no, these faggots don't represent me

Models = vampires
Jack the photographer = Dracula
Keanu Reeves = Van Helsing

For Chrissakes, the bloody neck photo shoot is a dead giveaway.

Now watch it again, faggot, and see what you missed.
