Because I have never seen Eraserhead

You should, one of the best movies I've ever seen desu

It is. Eraserhead is babby's first artfilm (the babby being lynch)

I'd say this fit that criteria moreso

Inland empire is better than both

I don't see much value in Eraserhead other than the obscene nature of the transgressions and the interesting cinematography, to me it just kind of feels like a haunted house ride at the amusement park compared to Mulholland Dr. I felt the latter really surprised npme with it's subversions, it felt like there were genuinely studied red herrings and scenes that confounded my traditional expectations, like a Joyce novel

I thought that Eraserhead had more effort put into creating a certain world, exhibiting a certain atmosphere carefully, every aspect of it being made to feel somewhat alien, whereas MD felt all about the script itself, all about trying to subvert how the viewer was reading into it. The rest being kind of background noise (even though it had a lot of depth and thought put into it.)

I'm really not sure what lynch was trying to achieve with it exactly, despite knowing what it's really about.

dude, lesbian sex lmao

i fapped to it

I don't remember the last time a movie made me get a boner but he somehow managed it, twice.

i don't like eraserhead

that's fine.

Eraserhead to me feels like a movie that was primarily about the aesthetic rather than the narrative, though. It certainly feels like an early project. I certainly respect that you prefer a particular investment into that area to create something totally foreign and creative, but I feel that Mulholland Dr.'s more organic setting served as a better scene to accentuate the eccentricities that are included. Consider the diner scene- it's mundane setting and dialogue gives an awkwardness and depth to the characters and plot that increased my investment in the movie while also disarming me from the nightmare he is going to describe. I didn't feel quite as invested in the cold feeling of smallness and anxiety that Eraserhead was trying to convey. I don't know if this makes sense it's 4am

Forgot link

I get what you mean. I'd go into more detail about what I thought of both, but it's almost 9am here, pretty exhausted.

I suppose it's really just a matter of subjectivity/personal preference when it comes down to it. Though I robably just expected the wrong thing going into MD and might like it more on rewatch.

There really is a lot more nuance to it that makes it much more enjoyable, in my opinion. Also, if you liked the surrealist aspect of David Lynch movies you should absolutely check out the movies of Luis BaƱuel. The short Un Chien Andalou is considered a touchstone of early avant garde cinema, and The Discrete Charms Of The Bourgeoisie is a masterpiece

post it, you know which scene im talking about

Probably because eraserhead is intentionally hard to follow. Regular folks just don't understand films that require a little critical thinking.

I find Mulholland Dr to be harder to follow than Eraserhead.

>an actual enjoyable discussion of film on Cred Forums
Wtf

Yeah MD definitely did have a lot of thought put into it, a lot of subtle details that add to the film, I'll need to rewatch both before I decide which I preferred but Eraserhead definitely did leave me a lot more awed and less "confused"

I'll check them both out, thanks.

I can't masturbate to Eraserhead.

>not fapping to the lady across the hall

literally a soap opera

Naomi Watts is cute.

because it is

Does anyone here think that Lynch will fuck up season 3 of twin peaks?

No

I think I like MD better than Eraserhead overall, but I prefer the ending of Eraserhead. There was nothing particularly shocking about MD's ending, but Eraserhead really left an impression on me.

She is nothing compared to this goddess.

I like both desu

how much would you pay to watch porn written and directed by lynn?

...

fuck, im fucking retarded
should be lynch, time to sleep i guess

I found Eraserhead to be much more consistent overall and direct in the point it was trying to make. Mulholland Dr. feels like a mess of plot lines and obscure scenes that don't culminate together neatly at the end. Though, maybe that was the point.

sounds extremely painful
