Yeah I usually try not to even listen to jazz albums and just pick my favorites based on the cover art

it's ok sometimes but mostly it should be avoided in jazz

yeah i feel the same. it's justified on black saint because of how composed it was, being a third stream album and all, but for me jazz is about freedom and existing in the moment and all that stuff

That's most post-hardcore memes. Still great stuff, I wonder how much overlap is there between the two audiences. There ought to be some decent one.
I've been binging on Mostly Other People Do The Killing which in all honesty is some of the most interesting post-bop of all and Fugazi, which definitely isn't a jazz group. I should listen to more of Peter Evans' work, I've taken quite a liking to his playing.
