Power metal has the potential to be mainstream unlike other metal subgenres since it's melodic, more radio friendly and the lyrics are actually comprehensible. Plus power metal was influenced by very popular bands such as iron maiden and even the band Journey and led zepplin, who are pretty big names... Although I don't see any promising band atm, I predict that a cool band will make it and bring metal with strong vocals to the mainstream.
