Bayern Munich

>Bayern Munich
Why don't Americans say either Bayern München or Bavaria Munich?

*tips fedora*

what did he mean by this

We say "Bayern de Munique"

its just different pronunciations, all combos make sense
bayern = bavaria, münchen = munich
but bayern munich =/= bavaria muenchen ???
nerver heard anyone calling them "bavaria" ttw
get a grip el taco

good point the should just say munchen

i'm always mystified by what things we choose to anglicize or not

we say munich. do you call germany deutschland? hell no. different languages m8

Why anglicise only half of the name?
You don't say Bayern when talking about Bavaria

"Bayern" is considered as the actual name of the club while "Munchen" is not. Names don't get translated while location do, which is way this happens (and not only to Bayern).

unless you are an old mexican broadcasting NFL

how about middle east lol

>does an American call Germany Deutschland?

He’s probably wearing leiderhosen right now to honour his great great grandfather’s heritage

...

What's the "New England Patriots" called in German?

Correct

Neu England Patrioten

excellent set up gj

for me it's bayern monaco

The official name is Fußball-Club Bayern München e.V. I don't understand what makes Bayern the "actual part of that name.

Fuck off, my great great grandfather came straight from Berlin to New York

Probably Bayern or Bundesliga's marketers decided to push that name.

same as borussia is the "actual" part of BVB's name, or do you call them prussia dortmund?

I'm not saying it's the right way, just how most people think or assume it is.
This is just an arbitrary thing people do, just like how they call Atletico Madrid like that even though that "Atletico" in the official name is worth as much as the F in "Arsenal FC"

like Royal Madrid or International Milan

Do you call "Internazionale Milano" of "Inter Milano" or "Inter Milan"?

For me, it's Bayer-Monsanto

AC Milano

thats a different club tho, and a different name

maybe tomorrow. good night,

this isnt /bundes/ (yet)

>My great great grandfather
So nobody of relevance to you. You probably don't even know his name. No one in your family and certainly not you even know a word of German.

You're an American and nothing else if your family has been here for 2+ generations, meinen dickes Kümpel

Lmao it was a joke nigga chill
I did learn German though
