i had a sr20det it was an amazing engine and its 3rd gear was nasty. only problem i found with it was the fuel system topped out at about 250hp 100oct you could squeeze a lil more boost but pinging because a serious concern.

that being said i ran 11s on a stock turbo@ 14lbs

I had a '75 Ford truck with that 300 inline mated to a 3 speed manual. No issues with those "three on the tree" manuals.

Youd be hard pressed to make 300whp with bolt-ons and a tune. Idk if you're talking crank or wheel tho. And you're going to want to go with a fully built bitch if you throw turbos on it. Nearly every vq35 I've seen that went forced induction -without- (insert forged everything) blew up shortly after. Would be a fun few days though.
I wouldnt know how much of a bitch it is to "in-depth" work on them internally, but my VQ is still going strong at over 205k miles. Owned since 121k.
Nissan/Infiniti put that motor in everything they offered that had a v6 option or as standard. If it was shitty they wouldnt have.

My g35 somehow beat a newer mustang on the highway last night. Dont have to believe me, I didnt understand how I did it either.
It had to have been a v6 before they upped them to 300hp+ or he just wasnt hooking up. Had AEM badges on it and the progressively lit taillights. From a 60-65mph pull, he never came around me.

Like I said, nobody has to believe me. I couldnt figure out how the hell I did it either. If it had the tail lights it had and lost to me, it had to have been a 2010 or 2011 by before they upgraded it in 2012. Or a newer one that was just spinning the tires. No reason my car should beat any newer mustang.

I’m thinking about getting an SR20DET and putting it in an old MX5/miata/ whatever your country calls them, putting a fastback top, squarish kit on front n rear to change side profile for some “wtf is that” factor and having a good old time.
They’re a pretty gay car but I reckon would be great if repowered.
Thoughts anyone? I know it’s a hairdressers car, but that’s kinda the humor of it. Plus they handle great.

my first truck had one. miss that truck. guy who brought it 19 years ago is still driving it daily. Last I saw he had 600k and that was 5 or 6 years ago.

Yeah, weight distribution sucked on these cars. But engine are damn good.

The obvious answer is the 4.2l V8 by VAG. Last forever and they could pump tons of power out if they ever decided modify it, which they fucking never did.
