Bob Dylan is actually pretty solid at guitar. His guitar skill and lyrics were the reason he got so big and people just kinda got used to his voice. It's Alright Ma is a good example of his guitar getting put to work. Kurt Cobain was another example of a person with a lot of skill on guitar who put it aside for the sake of composing songs based off mainly lyrics.
