also the only real thing I do to "live for the lord" is try to pray every day and genuinely believe that he exists and put faith in him and that he'll help me overcome my life's struggles. I've believed for a few years now that religious debates are fucking stupid. Many people find religion to give them a sense of purpose, including my own childhood best friend. A year ago, he was a suicidal pedophile who got Baker Acted. Now, he's found going to church for hours a day has made him a much better man for the most part.

To answer your question from my point of view, if I were to decide to start believing then I would probably start by obtaining a copy of the Bible from a local church since they usually give them out free. You may want to join said church but I'd probably read that Bible first and then follow it with that. Then, follow the Commandments and do what you feel is good for the world.
