Characters that are Hated for No Reason

>be 30 yr old professor
>look like 70s porn star
>have tons of girl students wanting to fuck you
>bag freshman amazon princess
>you hang out with her superhero teen friends and she's cool with you hitting on her hot alien friend constantly
>she's also cool with you hiring a stripper while you bro around with Dick Grayson
>get to hit on all of her friends and make allusions to threesomes and for some reason hot alien princess is charmed when you hit on her and your amazon gf is cool with it
>leave old washed up ex wife to get hot new thing
>hot young gf even does your thesis work for you and cries and takes blame when she fails to help you with it
>marry gf and have lots of sex
>have supervillain baby time travel shenanigans
>divorce her and win custody because you're so likable
>drives self and kids off a cliff at 90mph in the rain because you die as hard as you live, probably high during it, go out like a rock star
>all my teenage friends will be sad

I have yet to see a good reason for anyone to hate Terry Long. He's hilarious and people might be jealous of him but I think comics could only improve if they bring him back. Everyone inexplicably liked him and all the girls wanted to fuck him and he was the man. I'd rather have a beer with him than pussy ass Batman.

...

Here Terry is drinking with Dick, being a bro, hiring a hooker and then laughing with Dick at her once they realize she is probably a little retarded or on drugs or mentally ill.

I want to forget. Why won't you let me forget?!

...

>return as zombie
>brings zombie robert
>doesn't even care about zombie stepdaughter
>comes back just to rock out and bite my wife in her slutty pajamas
>has an orgasm when she punches a hole through me as i die
>makes her snap her baby's neck
>she turns into zombie too
>it's just a prank bro

The moral behind Terry Long: NEVER TRUST A GINGER

What girl doesn't love to hear about a guy's sister complex?

Mera should have spent that whole event by torching zombie kids.

It's not even like he's 30, he is just some indeterminate "older" and creepy.

I do seriously think he should still be alive or brought back in some way. Amanda Connor can draw a miniseries or whatever. He just has fun potential.

>Even Atrocitus is impressed

>I have yet to see a good reason for anyone to hate Terry Long
He's a shitty wolfman self insert that is not worth the pages he takes up. NTT is incredibly overrated anyways but he's just a stupid character. Why did a book about teen superheroes need a 30 year old hornndog?
>I'd rather have a beer with him than pussy ass batman
Not the mark of a good character in any way, I'd rather have a beer with Steve Lombard than Batman but it doesn't mean he's a better character

>He just has fun potential.
Coming from an Anonymous jackass on Cred Forums, the board currently obsessed with the shittiest foreign cartoons possible. NO SURPRISES THERE YOU TASTELESS CUNT.

They would have to be pretty tongue in cheek with Terry to make a mini work, but he was played absolutely straight back in the day. The audience knew what a creepy weirdo he was, but none of the characters did.

But he's at least funny. He brings something new to the table and is unique as a human love interest. He's not a Steve Trevor or Lois Lane, he's a weirdo who every superhero would secretly be judgmental about but he's married to the nicest heroine on earth so no one can say anything bad or mean. And he has no useful skills other than talking about his weird fetishes or mythology.

What foreign cartoons are you even talking about? Why are you insane?

Sorry that you hate fun. Terry is different and has loads of potential if DC wasn't too afraid to do something different rather than stick with the status quo. He could easily support his own ongoing or a mini at the very least.

That's what I'm thinking of mostly. And it could be fun in the right hands.

Wow, so you can relate with him I bet. Creepy old pedophile with no useful skills.

Your idea of 'fun' is fucking awful. I don't even want to know what gets you excited, you sick fuck.

The fact that you're putting down Lois because she's not comic relief shows how fucking shit your taste is.

>bur he's at least funny
No terry long is not funny.

I thought the lesson was that Marv Wolfman was a weirdo pervert

What are these impassioned responses against me? Especially the ones full of wild accusations, libel and slander? What is it about Terry Long that inspires such unwarranted and disproportionate hatred?

Terry is funny. He could easily support a miniseries or an ongoing. There are endless possibilities of what you could get with him interacting with the superhero world. If you disagree that is fine but you do not need to make it so personal, Terry did nothing to any of you and it's a bit disturbing how incendiary it is to find him enjoyable. I'd wager that most people are just jealous of him because he is not a typical emasculated male, is dating someone young, is free and not ashamed of his sexuality and gets to chill with a bunch of superheroes. Everything about him is wasted potential because fanboys got threatened.

But the truth is he could easily carry an ongoing or a miniseries. He easily could carry them.

6/10 trolling, my good Sir! *tips hat*

Lois is boring because she is impossible to explore outside of Superman in a truly interesting and sustainable light. Sure, she could have some interesting issues, but overall you'd hit a dead end: she is a journalist with an investigative and inquisitive nature and her interacting with the DC world would just be her constantly trying to get to "the bottom" of things and interacting with heroes in a way that would make things redundant and feel like an interview.

A Terry Long ongoing, Written by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, would have enough fuel to bring something different to every issue while also giving us an actually fresh look at the DCU. Not through some soldier outlook or an investigative outlook that gives us navelgazing and over wrought introspection, but instead wacky hijinx from a man completely out of his element but willing to roll with it. He hangs around teen superheroes and lets them use his bachelor pad so he's often targeted by villains but he annoys them so much or weirds them out that they end up releasing him as a hostage. Superheroes would all have very different reactions to him, Guy Gardner would flat out call him ugly and creepy and Superman would genuinely like him. Wonder Woman would be cordial for Donna's sake but be very judgmental deep down. Batman would think it's irresponsible for the Titans to let him hang around and scold Dick for it. Lex Luthor ends up swapping briefcases with Terry accidentally and gets a suitcase full of papers on BDSM and the sexuality of the Greek Gods, also full of dirty letters to Donna. Hilarity ensues when it is shown on the projector at a villain meeting. Meanwhile, Terry has Luthor's plans to take down Superman...

The series writes itself, dudes! No hate is needed.

Dick and Starfire were so cute together. Too bad their relationship is beyond repair and cancer now.

I never thought Donna and Terry was remotely believable and the readership didn't either. She's surrounded by the most eligible bachelors in the universe, all with great bodies and superpowered, and she is drawn to a whiny creepy perverted manchild with no explanation.

Fuck you, your ideas are horrible.

eh if you look at donna's history her being attracted to terry makes sense.

she went for a troubled addict to basically take care of him. then she went for her professor who she basically ended up taking care of too, she was attracted to the fact that he was weak and also very whiny and in constant need of her help, even to keep his job. then she goes for a recently-traumatized artistic noob who needs to be mentored and guided and shown the ropes of hero-ing and of course also nurtured and cared for.

basically she likes manchildren and guys who she can take care of in some way. terry fits that bill and has that in common with roy and rookie kyle. some girls have weird taste.

Look at popular cartoons now on adult swim or fox and netflix and tell me that would not be incredibly popular. It fits the formula for success perfectly and no other character could deliver like Terry could. He is honestly the most interesting civie character that ever existed in DC that isn't on the Gotham City Police Department.

Believe it or not men exist like him irl too. Men who get hot younger girls and who a bunch of cool young people look up to and like. Getting rid of him gets rid of realism in comics.

>her being attracted to terry makes sense
No it doesn't

Why? Because he's not conventionally sexy? Not every girl cares solely about looks. If you shaved his beard he'd just look like a handsome Jimmy Olsen or Roy with curly hair.

She's an impressionable college freshman who wants validation from a professor and older man, that is plenty reason for attraction and a position many of us wish we were in, my friend!

>Getting rid of him gets rid of realism in comics.
Oh. You're one of THOSE.

Now that the dust has settled, what did Terry mean by this?

holy shit

>is it because of his looks
No it's because of his personality.

There's nothing wrong with it. He's fun and charming, even Starfire thinks so, even his students think so. Even Dick liked him and thought he was cool.

It doesn'thave to make sense. Not even a little.
I have at least two friends who are with women so far beneath them that I can't even fathom it.

Also why is no one ever mentions how much Wolfman's self imsert looks like fucking JOHN BYRNE?

>it doesn't have to make sense
Yes it does.

>there's nothing wrong with it
Yes there is, it's just shit writing that the titans were all cool with him.

that's not how the real world works buddy

no it wasn't. he was a cool older professor that let them order pizza at his bachelor pad, probably smoke weed, was sexually liberated and non judgmental and would take dick to a strip club. i'm sorry but most 18 year olds would think this guy is the shit and really cool and would not start thinking he's weird until their mid 20s looking back on it.

You have disgusting tastes if you fantasize about a creepy pedophile like him.

We're not talking about the real world.

In the real world, Donna would've never gone for Terry.

Going for a girl in college isn't pedophilia. Donna was legal. Sorry that every argument you have against Terry is falling apart and you're proven to be a reactionary for no reason.

Yes she would have. An insecure freshman getting attention from an older professor and reciprocating is not unheard of. Many girls her age want an older man to prove they are more mature as well. Plenty of girls that look like her are with guys that look like Terry.

>he was a cool old professor
No he wasn't.

>yes she would have
No she wouldn't.

this is my favorite thread

Look at that picture of Burt Reynolds laying down on that rug, naked. Terry is basically a dead ringer. Back in the 80s especially, girls liked men that looked like Terry and they got tons of pussy, which Terry was shown to be getting before he settled down with Donna.

The best thing that Terry Long ever did was drive off that cliff and take his children with him.

Why the hell hasn't he shown up in Teen Titans or TTGo?

It could be the funniest episode ever if they don't hold back.

>Pizza and ditch weed at a shitty apartment.
How tantalizing.

>terry is a dead ringer for Burt Reynolds
No he isn't.

I love how it was the world's most irresponsible and reckless driving too. His 12 year old daughter was even acting scared and trying to warn him, but he thought it was a great idea to drive on a slippery muddy narrow road on a mountain during a storm where he couldn't see anything at high speeds...and it's not even that he jerked the wheel and skid off the cliff or anything. He literally just drove straight full speed off the cliff.

To most 18-19 year olds it is. Why wouldn't someone like a person who is friendly, helpful, funny, and kind?

Name how he isn't.

Donna wouldn't be an insecure freshman, that would be out of character.

That's fucking college in a nutshell.

>to most 18-19 year olds
The titans aren't like most people, they wouldn't be impressed by any of this.

Terry Long is one of the few characters who fits the original definition of a Mary Sue,since he was Wolfman's self insert.

I'm not even sure how his character would work in the current D.C. universe.

At the time of New Teen Titans, she's a girl with an identity crisis unsure of her birth family and was raised in the shadow of the greatest woman of all time. Of course it makes sense for her to be a little insecure.

Even way later in Teen Titans Year One they had her going for Roy who literally treated her like shit and she was desperate to prove herself to him. Aside from being kind and nurturing a lot of her character is marked by uncertainty, which never improved since her origins became more retarded.

So, yes, it makes sense that she'd be all over an older guy giving her attention and making her feel special, validated, and mature. That's why she didn't hesitate at such a young age to say yes to marriage and become a stepmother.

>so yes, it makes sense
No it doesn't.

And yet they were. They were young horny kids with legacy and mentor issues who just wanted an older figure that they didn't have to live up to or feel pressured to impress. Terry was that older figure. They also all wanted an escape and a gathering where they could all just have fun and have pillow fights and be as carefree as possible to let loose from the stressful lifestyle of heroics and Terry provided that for them as well. It makes sense that everyone liked him and thought he was a swell and cool guy.

>Name gow he isn't
Burt Reynolds was Cool, Terry long is not.

>OP confirmed for disgusting elderly creep

>and yet they were
Because of shitty writing.

>if A then B
No.

>My self insert is awesome

You're not fooling anybody Wolfman...

I was willing to give Terry the benefit of the doubt with the age gap and with him being a professor and dating a student. Well, not really, but I figured it was a product of the time and I could let it go.

The issue that bothered me the most was that fucking thesis thing. When Donna had to fill in as the leader and was stressed out and having breakdowns and out of her element and Terry got pissed off that she wasn't there to do his homework for him. The way he blamed her for not doing his own job, abandoned her for days to "blow off steam", then came back and she was desperate for his forgiveness and reconciliation after was just creepy and weird. It was a weird dynamic and didn't seem healthy for Donna who was still a teenager and didn't even get to be one because of him. This motherfucker was seriously having an 18/19 year old around his daughter and having her be at odds with his ex who was in her 30s.

I'm not Wolfman it's just that people have a bias against Terry that makes no sense considering he'd be very likable irl and popular.

I explained all the reasons why Terry would be appealing to them as a friend. You haven't explained why he would not be.

Yeah and all your reasons were bullshit.

>Terry provided that for them
No he didn't.

Okay I'm too exhausted to pretend I like him anymore you win

>product of the time
Eh, profs are still banging much younger students all the fucking time. Depending on the department, male grad students live in a world of easy to get undergrad pussy.

I mean if Terry was portrayed as Wooderson from Dazed & Confused that'd be fine but he wasn't. You were supposed to take him and his relationship with Donna Troy seriously.

Okay, NOW will you kill yourself? Please? Just take a knife to your throat and slice.

This is probably my favorite troll/b8 thread in a while. Good job.

Someone really wanted him dead, they wanted to efface him and his bloodline from the dcu and I commend them for the way they went about it.

Terry Long got a cybernetic dong by Gerard Way when

Got to appreciate the full-throttle "HE'S REALLY FUCKING DEAD YOU'RE WELCOME" approach.

I would not read that.
I would not read that in a boat, I would not read that in my coat.

Lol is this real?

He's like a Seinfeld character who lost his way and found himself inside a cape comic book.

Terry's just fun.

Even back when I was a teenager I thought that people in their thirties who mainly hang out with high school age kids were creepy. It just means they are losers who aren't mature enough to have adult friends.

The only thing that made their relationship believable was Donna's lack of a male role model growing up.

Go to be Wolfman. No one likes your creepy self insert.

...

>All the fucking time

How out of touch are you? It's not the 70's anymore. Universities are highly sensitive battlegrounds over the mildest of issues. 30 year old teachers openly fucking freshman would be the end of your career these days.

As fucking hilarious his death is it's kinda sad the kid had to die for Terry's douchebaggery.

Kids, his and Donna's son was also in the car.

Woflman's comics are horrifying in so many ways. This was a guy that had to be told by his editors that Raven hypnotising boys into liking her was terrifying, not cute.

The crowning moment of WTF though was the way Judas Contract ended. Terra is demonized as utterly beyond redemption while Deathstroke, the man that molested her, messed with her head and drove her to suicide, gets forgiven.

>I thought that people in their thirties who mainly hang out with high school age kids were creepy.

But Terry was never treated like a weirdo. He was treated like he was totally normal and not at all out of place dating Donna who was little more than a child. He was never the butt of the joke and it's only now we kinda look back and laugh at Wolfman's utterly transparent attempt to write himself into a teen super hero story.

They don't exist

The kids needed to go as well.

>Raven hypnotizing boys to like her was terrifying, not cute.
It's kinda cute but the problem is that there's no consequences for it.

>did you have sex with an underage girl
>does that really matter?
>I...I guess not.

>did nothing wrong
>passable voice
>gets ENTIRELY blamed even tho, the fucking baby has done shit before
>ACTUALLY has a personality then "LOL he said poof xDDDD"

nigga why?

The original script had him jubilantly declare "fuck yeah buddy, up top' with Beat Boy then giving him a high five and buying him a drink.

>t.sheltered virgin who spent his teen years masturbating to internet porn

>cape comic status quo resets

Always good for a laugh.

You can tell someone was especially buttflustered at Donna's family attachments because this is a particularly mean spirited way to do away with them.

Fuck man, why do you make me remember this shit?

He'd be 70% less hated if he'd never grown a beard.

The Raven shit was so horrible, she fucked with Wally and Dick so bad and it was supposed to be okay. Even Starfire sympathized and literally tried to invite her into a threesome after Raven was basically trying to rape Dick. And the Terra thing is definitely one of the most horrific things of all I agree. The way Slade just went into full "Cool Antihero" territory after all of that is hilarious. I didn't even understand his reasoning about how it was okay that he fucked Terra, like, she had emotional issues and psychological issues and was obviously violent so that meant she in no way could be exploited and also means it's okay to fuck her at 15? Ok.

I'd love for actual IC reactions to a creepy professor dating Donna who is barely legal and convincing her to marry him only months into dating and be a stepparent. And the constant sexual innuendos and the fact that he keeps raising awareness about his age around her and her friends, always calling himself an old man. I'd love for someone to just be like you're a fucking creep no one invited you and end a party in awkward silence.

I also love how Terry makes a note to always tell Donna that he's checking out other girls but that she should be grateful that he's such a good guy and that he'll only look and not touch. It's just hilarious looking back on it that this was supposed to be romantic rather than pathetic and sad.

>most 18-19 year olds are into guys like Terry

says the person who never went to college

Grad students maybe.

Undergrad gets ya fired.

Say what you will about his writing, but you can't deny that Wolfman is an awesome last name to have.

Hot

On TTGo they probably would do that.

Wtf i love marv wolfman now?

It was during Byrne's Wonder Woman run and Terry is such a widely hated character that nobody mourned his death. Wolfman was really good at coming up with characters only he liked--Danny Chase was another one that he was mad fans hated--while simultaneously shitting all over characters he personally hated like Flamebird and Duela Dent.

I wonder how long it will be until Jubilee's kid drives off a cliff?

How many times has dick been raped now?

Hopefully Jubilee and X23 will get gay married and they'll both drive off a cliff with their kids in tow.
They are stealing Logan from Kitty Pryde.

As long as we get Tim and Jubilee marriage issue in heaven

How many times it is, it's not enough.

Go away Devin, Dick is not your husband

Uh is she special for real?

> Never getting Donna/ Dick

Why even live?

It doesn't stop it, though. Professor can straight up get away with sexually harassing grad students as well, because their future is often tied to his.
Academia is shit.

Because that's not a good pairing. Terry was gross but Dick is also a flaky man child with Daddy issues. Donna deserves better.

>Nightwing and Cyborg beat the fuck out of Terry, Gar turns into a dinosaur and tramples him to death.
I could get behind that.

Wolfman's Cyborg isn't bad, although killing his dad, who was a gold mine of potential character devlopment and conflict ( is he still dead?) seems like a huge error.

I'll never not laugh at this panel.

If Aquaman was alive he would've been hard as diamond with Mera going full rage-monster

...

I know people don't like Cyborg cause he's pretty boring but he was one of the best NTT characters. He had a lot less bullshit and less annoying moments compared to everybody else. He certainly stayed out of all the love octagons that were made.
