Apparently, another series started a month later after that one had ended with new voice actors and updated character designs and that series is still running. I'm not familiar with Doraemon so I don't know if people consider the new one to still be the same series or a reboot or whatever. If you count both as one series, they total to 37 years and going. Either way, longer than Arthur.

Even ignoring anime, Thomas the Tank Engine had started in 1984 and is still going and that shows airs on the same network as Arthur so no excuse there. Either the longest running animated kids show thing is a lie or whoever wrote that was severely misinformed.
