This looks like tumblr fodder

To be continued!

Will we find out that she's actually a monster, or is she actually the monster?

Find out in the next episode: She's actually a monster.

AND?

So I just woke up and maybe its because I didn't get enough sleep and I'm very angry but I enjoyed this quite a lot.

Addison is the better magical girl.

I thought that was pretty cool. I like the premise of magical girls after they've grown up, which most people are (understandably) pretty reluctant to touch. I also really like the way it's colored.

The use of "Star Guardians" is pretty funny but it's not like there's a patent on that name.

>which most people are (understandably) pretty reluctant to touch.
Because it's only used as an excuse to make edgy bullshit.

What are the premises? Can someone make a synopsis? It looks like "puella magi madoka magica" meets "Steven Universe"

Top tier waifu design there, can't wait till these dykes bang

>Madoka fan

I dunno I'm getting warning flags and I say this as some who thought Madoka was a solid 7/10 would recommend to fans of MG genre

thank you, user. that was a nice read

In the time someone could write or post one you could probably read the pages that have been posted.

That's some terrible fucking SU art.
Why is Rose not morbidly obese?

The artwork is pretty if lacking proportions at times.

I like some of the concepts in terms of direction.

Like how the unusual hair of magical girls is made in to part of the art style.

>magical girl bakery
welp, time for me to change to Chinese food.

You don't even want to know what their kitchens are like.

You think that's cow you're eating?

You are giving me ideas, but maybe you shouldn't.

>Farah
>Shaughnessy
>Farah is a male or female given name or surname of Middle Eastern origin.
>Shaughnessy is a family surname of Irish origin that is sometimes used as a first name.

They're fucking with me with a name like that.

I normally don't like many of the magical girl based webcomics I've seen (Sleepless Domain, Agents of the Realm) but this one has a lot of cool concepts, and I really like the art.It does kind of seem that most go for the edgy route though.
I was thinking of possibly making a magical girl comic too, and kind of already have one.

Post it

I will post mine if you post yours.

It was a Pokemon Nuzlocke fancomic based on Madoka with a Sylveon as Kyubey so I feel like it's a bit awkward to post. I haven't updated this shit for over a year so looking back at my old art is kind of cringey for me, I tried to find something from a more recent page that I don't mind so much.

That's because by beating it directly into their heads, Madoka caused people to finally realize that the concept of magical girl is some dark fucking shit. They're just making use of the potential that was always there.

Gym battles were all represented by Witches (the game it was based on was Alpha Sapphire)

I had to look up Luzlocke and Sylveon because I have no idea what it means. How do these two fit together? Are magicas trainers?

>Madoka invented the magical girl horror genre

I'm a huge fan of Madoka, and most of my ideas are heavily influenced by it as well, but I think a darker magical girl story can be harder to pull off.
I'm not sure how to explain it but look at the anime Daybreak Illusion, for example, which is pretty much a cheap dark magical girl cashgrab made to be similar to Madoka but falls flat.

I would just assume she's mixed, right? The art leans in that direction.

I don't honestly know if I'll follow this (I am assuming the OP is the author or someone associated on it) but I'll probably check in on it every so often and decide when more of the plot is visible.

I'm entertained by how Farah and Aeslinn are basically the same fucking person.

It's a gijinka comic, which is when the Pokemon are drawn as humans, so the Pokemon themselves are the magical girls.
I like your art!

Yeah, I never said that it was easy to do it well, but Madoka's popularity was certainly what inspired people to try and make magical girl stories with more depth. Last year's Pleiades was a good example of someone putting that inspiration to good use and finding a good balance by making it more serious without going into edgy territory.

I had an idea for a magical girl story about a girl who can use magical Lotería cards to fight monsters based on Mexican and/or Chicano folklore. I'll likely never get around to drawing it of work obligations, and also because I'm a giant pussy idiot who can't write.

I really dislike how the "dark" aspects of these magical girl comics come from a really obvious place.

I want a magical girl story where their flowery fairy glade hideout (not literally a hideout, but you know what I mean - the Zordon's Lair) is actually something far darker, but they're still heroic. Something like an ancient circle of standing stones in the centre of a dark woodland. They often paint the powers as old as time, yet the entire aesthetic is clearly contemporary.

This art is super nice, user. I really enjoy your effects. I could never do that shit.

She's actually the cardboard character cutout from the "how to appeal to tumblr" pic.

That said I'm not reading this dogshit

She's not fat.

She might have a muffin top

Nah, she's pretty thin.

Still a womanlet though.

She was better as a qt nerd rather than generic biker chick.

No she was not.

...though it's totally going to be that she modeled herself on Farah because she looked up to her or something, isn't it? Either way biker elf = pure sex.

When will they learn?

> biker elf = pure sex.
This. Comic should be about her.

Farah is just Kamala Khan without being cute, so what's the point?

I really dig the scenery, especially here I also like how the entire comic's in grayscale except for the magical girl hair/eyes. It's a neat visual effect.

Also her boots, weirdly enough.

Read through the chapter. Art is pretty cool but the story seems about as reveting as drywall.

Also
>late twenty something former magical girls all being sassy and unique(!!!!) hair and working at a cafe!!!!
Yea naaaaah.

Rose's gem is on her belly and Mystery Girl doesn't have an actual side-shave.

That sounds way better than another Madoka rip off. You should go for it.

Do you mean like Read or Die with cards, or something like Gambit?

That was a pretty good read, Nicole.

The art especially, as others have said, is amazing.

The story is alright but not very gripping yet. Granted like every longform webcomic I've ever read has started 1000 times more boring than it eventually became. It takes time to really get a feel for your own characters.

The author should definitely consider submitting it to Oni or something later down the line.

The flower guardians first show up here so is Leon supposed to be trans?

4 outta 6

>this comic finally started
Oh SHIT, and I almost missed it! Thanks ir this OP!

So the webcomic is MAGICAL GIRLS with the tumblr treatment (Horrible color hair+ lesbian cut and a cunt personality)

I can't believe what I'm saying but that's the WORST idea for a webcómic I've ever heard, I mean DAMN that's the worst of japan, the and the worst of the west all in one shitty drawed package

Worst of tumblr and worst of japan al together in one shitty drawed package.

With that said, a grown magical girl who's not a tumblr stereotype could be interesting

Great work user no nameless, the idea is really good!

After adolescence ends and become adults, what happens to the magical girls?

calling it now
the magical girl agency has some corruption from within and hockey stick girl has to save it and still gets treated like shit after

Anybody has watched Cyberteam in Akihabara?

WOW you sound edgy! Tell me more about how everything sucks! And post the exact same fucking sentence twice because that's very convincing!

I think the joke is that he's just a guy who works there who is getting dragged in to this shit. That he's an "acting" member implies this.

Probably not. He looks like he's wearing a boy uniform here:

Why wasn't she arrested for this?

The same reason that Bob Parr wasn't I'd guess.

Is the magical girls administration part of civil authority or the responsible governing bodies?

Now that you mention it, a trans magical girl sounds like a great idea. I hope someone does that sometime.

Like, actually "trans" or something like how Switch was meant to be in The Matrix?

Can we get some lewds of the lanky biker elf?

I think it's already been done.

Lesdom lewds pls

>Need to eat in order to drink water
THE FIENDS

That's right, Tumblr invented colored hair and jerkass main characters.

Ughh, how come that this genre always feels like ''is like Sailor Moon but in this one...''

Is like they are not even trying to be different!

>that fucking artstyle

It's so generic "Tumblr-style" if you tried to look it up you'd probably get like a thousand different blogs.

>adoka caused people to finally realize that the concept of magical girl is some dark fucking shit.

No its not, is onece again a case of people liking cutesy and pointless shit so they try to make it sound edgy as fuck to feel good about themselves.

Again, Chad Rocco (CR) making a review for My Little Pony saying ''and then they downright MURDER DE VILLIAN!!! That's right, they just murdered a villian in MLP! See? This is not a kids show!''

Aside from the faces, the art is pretty alright.
I'll keep my eye on it.

It's okay but the character designs aren't doing it any favors.

Not that the character designs are bad per se but there's a stigma to the current designs as of now (Tumblr/SU).

Why tumblr artists always draw girls with such ugly faces and crude expressions? Are they just projecting their own ugliness?

No, but it inspired the worst combination of the two with a "hidden agenda" attached.

>tumblr ripoff of madoka
pls no

There's a manga called "Mahou Shoujo Site" that has one.

Trans as a magical girl who became a guy or a guy who became a magical girl?

Getting real strong Tomboy feels from that pic.

Reading the rest, it really looks like they were "strongly inspired" by Tomboy and Sailor Moon and whatnot.

Yeah, "strong influences", mmhmm

As a former telemarketer I take offense at this
It's a profession filled with desperate people who couldn't get any other job but need to pay the bills who get fucked over by their bosses, + a few ruthless sociopaths who are the super sellers

Cheap shot 0/5 seriously could have chosen a better funny everyday evil, like the people who don't pick up after their dog or the telemarketing corporations or such

...

She seems very unlikable, I'm hating the name and the pink hair + vague ethnicity combo is really fucking cliche and tired at this point. The jokes seem a bit too try-hard. She also really, really does not seem like an 28-year old. If it's played as a plot point, as in inability to let go of being a rebellious youth and having trouble moving on to maturity, it's fine, but, yeah.

The premise has great potential and the art isn't bad at all, quite nice, the idea of effect colors is cool (but the pink is a rather unfortunate choice) - but there's a lot of warning flags.

Is that show any good?

Farah is a female name, ive never met a guy with that name, its too feminine in my country

Ranma?

it wasnt great
but at least it spawned some porn

So, is Teal haired girl the same one as the one hugging the girl with the sword on the previous page?

>which most people are (understandably) pretty reluctant to touch
Everyone and there mother has done this.
Sailor Nothing was over a decade ago.

What fucking hidden agenda? The main character is supposed to be a twist on a magical girl when she grows up, hence the sidecut that's seen as "rebellious".

And magical girl characters ALL have fucking colored hair, because they're anime characters and most of them have colored hair.

You people crying Tumblr are pathetic.

I too, think Nicole posted this, but even so, just like with that other Star Guardians comic about veteran magical girls, I would pay money for this. I'm a sucker for the concept of there being tons of different magical girl teams with different themes and stuff.

So, keep doing what you're doing OP. I liked it a lot!

Dark magical girl shows have been around since the dawn of OVA's.
Heck even the mainstream children's magical girl shows would often dip into it.

Reminder that Madoka is a SHIT god

>only made her wish because the other option was her, the city, and her family dying to Walpurgis
>Magical girls she "rescues" canonly still long for the physical world, meaning they gain no fucking enlightenment at all in her afterlife
>Is so weak that fucking aliens can create a plan to capture her
>is so weak that she offers no resistance to Homura's Rebellion
>Rebellion shows that Madoka never wanted to be a goddess anyways

FUCK HER

Work for it m8, Mexican folklore is underused. It can get especially surreal if you make use of Aztec demonology and gods.

Was thinking the same thing, kek.

>

>highschool was a million years ago
>proportions of an 8yo
confusing but ok

Meh.

>It is a "magical girl deconstructuion where they are commonplace and unionized and protagonist is a punk washed up one" episde

>commonplace and unionized and protagonist is a punk washed up one
Soviet Russian/Serbian Magical Girl when?

I want to see the blue-haired one lift her up in both hands, or pull her head about two feet down

Track suit with a frilly skirt and uses vodka as what she uses as the energy for spells?

>true friendship with a pickaninny
I don't think so tim

>that mami
savage

How many times is Magical Girls gonna be "subverted" through half hearted attempts at making it badass and ultimately making one of the most straightforward female empowerment stories into a grim tragedy as a statement for female empowerment
It's like if all anybody knew to write for Wonder Woman was her regretting that she could fly

Card Captor Sakura mexican ripoff sure sounds incredible

mc is literally with thin legs and longer hair, of course people are going to make assumptions. plus the author is tumblr based

There's a online comic called "Chaos Arena Crystal Fighters"

It is sadly only available on Stela, an apple exclusive service.

It's a comic about a VR Video Game thats supposed to be a cutsey magical girl thing, but some players hacked it and made it into a tournament fighter.

I was able to read the first issue for free elsehwere, but without an I-Phone, I literally cannot read it.

It exists!

But I wish I could see more of it

Catfights are my fetish

I really need to hurry up with my own edgy magical girl thing if these things keep popping up like this.

looks pretty generic

What about one where the protagonist was forced to undergo gender reassignment into a female by government to become a magical weapon but is a wreck of depression and conflicting sensory information along with PSTD from being a child soldier?

So what happened to David Reimer?

Or magic? Like, "you're a boy with magic powers, better spell you in to a chick"?

But she isn't magical just crazy

I feel like I'd like this more if the MC was anyone other than Farah or Aeslinn. Hell, you don't even have to get rid of them, but I feel like a lot of the grown-up magical girl stories have leads who are incredibly edgy for no real goddamn reason. Sabrina and Frederique seem to be a lot more balanced, and I'd be more willing to follow their story just by virtue of them not cursing everyone else out within their first few bubbles of dialogue.

Also, Frederique is a qt

Isn't a visual pain to read, surprisingly enough. Too bad it's trying to make magical girls edgy because I've got zero interest in that.

Toast in mouth been done so much, it's not even a joke at this point.

>tfw I had an idea for pretty much this exact thing in high school (which was more than ten years ago for me now)
>Along with madoka's deconstructive nature of the magical girl genre

FUUUUUUUUUUU-! I should have written this shit down! I could be making so much money!

And I fucked up because I wanted to do 'more research' on the differences between the Thule Society and the Ahnenerbe.

And the course of the story would have had her ditch more magical girl methods like waiting for power ups to happen and begin actively strudying magic and loading up on artifacts and ending up CCS meets Harry Dresden.

Karin is the best one

I spot Princess Tutu as well.

You butthole. How can you give a perfect pitch like that with great art and not promise to deliver? Do it, man!

Guys, who is the creator of this comic? I might have dated her as my ex drafted a similar story years ago.

babs tarr madoka tumblr garbage. Im a 28 female into magic girl stuff (thats the target demo reader I assume) and no way. Its tragic because tumblr has artists with skill, but they make results like this comic. unoriginal re-hash junk that feels cheap instead of a fun mix with nods to shit like they are going for.

It makes me think, is there any actually good traditional "Magical Girl" comic made by fans of the genre or at least tumblr?, i mean one that actually follow the tropes but in a good way, like Precure or something like that?

Precure is shit.

Ur shit

There will never be enough nazi magical girls.

Btw there is a manga called Youjo Senki which also ties into the trans shit, in that the protagonist is a jaded middleaged man in the body of a militarized mahou shoujo
a lot of the ideas brainstormed itt already have a whole bunch of mangas based off of.

Nah, she's confirmed magical in the last two issues.

But she is still crazy

Homura>Madoka

>pink side cut
>brown skin
gonna be shit

I've read this and it's not too bad. I just can't wait for that hairstyle to fall out of fashion.

>Insulting the cutest girl
You take that back
