Non-ant size

So, my fellow saurians, let's settle this once and for all:

Marble or BC?

rawr

Marble panders to the mammal audience, like mammals read comics

Everyone without feathers leave.

I know it's scientifically accurate now, but I will never get used to dinosaurs with feathers.

Either way run away you tiny mammal.

...

It's looks like a giant chicken.

It would still be terrifying.

Is that... Dino Yosemite Sam?

What's a chicken, don't you use your made up mammal words
Go back under your tumbling weed

Mongos my good sauropod.

the integument is irrelevant, it's the meat
people seem to only have two settings: emaciated or boringly pudgy. nobody ever draws cool muscles. if youre going to make em look like birds, look to the ostrich and the cassowary. those things look terrifying. a dinosaur that isn't scary is a waste

If you are under the age of forty then dinosaurs have been known to have feathers your entire life.

I seriously love these fucking raptors man.

dino vampires is a cool idea but holy shit that writing.

...

They were always known to have feathers. They were going to have feathers in the original Jurrassic Park movie, even, but then they decided to ignore the expert that they hired.

I just looked it up. the head's a lot smaller than that. then again that was a queen so you'd expect a big butt. but not the big thorax.

hey guys, what's going on in this thread?

well plus it makes sense, they were genetically engineered for a theme park, and gene spliced for custom shit. They wanted to make what everyone wanted to see

Hey guys, I think the mammals are getting paid for they're work at the quarry.
I mean what the hell.

You will never be as cool as Chaptor.

Does anyone have to story behind this?

Me too. Why is there not a game where you can raise accurate dinosaurs?

>but holy shit that writing.

The joke is that it's revealed to be a a really bad movie on the next page.

Even though it was discovered long ago, the idea hitting the general public is rather recent. Even now, most people seem to restrict the feather idea do velociraptors

Fug,I remember this illustration from a dinosaurs book my father bought when I was a kid. Those shiny, crazy eyes were fuckin' scary back then.

It's funny how dinosaurs aren't extinct, we just call them birds now.

Anyone else read this?

They're just biding their time, user. Just that.

that has got to be one of the scariest dinosaurs I have ever seen

it's staring right into my soul

I want a wallpaper version of this

The hell is that thing?

>Those huge fucking spurs.

Holy shit.

For some reason, just in general, I tend to find the idea of giant birds more terrifying than giant dinosaurs. The way the bird from A Bug's Life moved, with its twitchy little head blown up hundreds of times larger thanks to viewing it from an ant's perspective, still sticks with me.

Thought that may be because of a few bad childhood experiences with emus.

BC is more full of gore and carnivore slaughter. Marble is full of mammal loving faggots and herbivore scum.

Have you ever been chased by an angry chicken on your early years? Those lil fuckers are scary as all fuck when you're a little kid,dude...and they're vicious fighters,too...they smell your fear and take highgrounds on it.

It's a primal fear, like our natural fear to spiders or snakes...take in count that some our primitive grandgrandgrandpas may have been hunted and eated by those huge beaked fluffy bastards.

Anyon kno were small fur things ar

Ez hunt n crunchy boens not big n scare n hard boens but hide well can dig

I never get the hate for feathers.
Birds got feathers and they look cool.
Large birds usually look badass.
All birds look like shit featherless.

If anything feathers should be an improvement.

This looks familiar. Is this from a book? I feel like I owned a book with this picture in it when I was a kid.

Not all dinosaurs had puffy feathers. Some dinosaurs had thick hides much like elephants and rhinos. We have zero evidence that something like a T-Rex had feathers.

No idea, sorry. I only had this book, which was actually fantastic, including one astonishing illustration of an Elasmosaurus (which isn't a dinosaur)

T-rex would have been one of the more likely ones to have feathers. All therapods have a large number of biological similarities with birds, and a good chunk of dino's in that branch had feathers.

Man, maybe it's just my nostalgia talking, but 90s dinosaur books were fucking hype as shit.

...

People had pure passion for the subject back then, before the cynicism of the 00's started creeping in and Featherfags+Paleontologists sucked the fun out of everything.

Shouldn't his body now be made of metal and chains and stuff?

FOUND IT! HOLY, SHIT, I WAS RIGHT! I TOTALLY REMEMBER THIS NOW!

Guys

Purple dinosaurs

Im sorry

You got it wrong, dingdong. The 80s started in with the cynicism. The 90s perfected it, and also saw more conclusive evidence of dino feathers. The 00s were just hysteria over 9/11 and the death of top-down media culture, and huge budget cuts to all sciences.

...

Yeah...all this "World is getting more stupid on purpose" business is starting to anoy me

>we combine them all into one thing

HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT

This is making me feel nostalgic and now I want to visit my parents and tell them I love them.

Does anyone else think that The Flintstones were too dark for kids? I mean Dinosaurs were portrayed as slaves. I personally find it very sick and disturbing.

I thought feathers were only a theory?

(yes im in the nile)

We dinosaurpost?

Didn't that show use the old "Eh, its a living" gag a few times? The dinosaurs were probably paid workers.

>zero evidence that something like a T-Rex had feathers.
user, almost all skin coverings from T-rex's closest relatives have feathers
On top of that, one of the earliest and most primitive members of Tyrannosauroidea had feathers.
it is highly unlikely Trex didnt have feathers in some form, whether it be a near-full body covering or just simple arm displays that some theropods had.

I was kind of into it until the vampire part.

>tfw this was just a giant proto-duck that ate plants

That's no dinosaur, it's a heavily mutated pterosaur.

I had the book this illustration is from when I was a kid. Good memories

Why is it some random guy on Kickstarter made better Batraptor VS Superraptor figures than DC?

Sauce?

Are you being cheeky, or did DC actually make dinosaur figures?

That doesn't make sense, a Triceratops wouldn't be so tiny and helpless compared to a T. Rex.

That trike's obviously a juvenile.

The frill and horns look too developed.

How do you feel about this guy's idea of using "Grizzlyhawk" as a common name for a T. Rex?

>If we had a military division with the bullet-carrying capacity of these birds it would face any army in the world... They can face machine guns with the invulnerability of tanks. They are like Zulus whom even dum-dum bullets could not stop.[15]

>The machine-gunners' dreams of point blank fire into serried masses of Emus were soon dissipated. The Emu command had evidently ordered guerrilla tactics, and its unwieldy army soon split up into innumerable small units that made use of the military equipment uneconomic. A crestfallen field force therefore withdrew from the combat area after about a month.[11]

That would've been fuckin' great.

I dunno about hip hop , but yes it would

Well there's like a zillion comics, so it is Cred Forums.

The comics by Topps were way better than IDW's series.

Never read the IDW stuff and only some of the Topps. I remember Muldoon surviving because, as it was explained in the comic, he and the raptor were just playing essentially.

RAWWWWWWWWWR

...

Can't be considered canon because Bob Peck (Muldoon) died in '99.

Also, I remember hearing that one of the story arcs involving the Raptors was part of the inspiration for the story of Jurassic world.

I remember seeing this when I was 6 and my first thought was "brutal" .

I can't help picturing the Iguanodon going "oh shit dude, my bad" now

>tfw when too late to donate and ensure I get one of these and too early for them to actually be on sale

Wouldn't biting into metal like that feel absolutely terrible on your teeth? A predator would have tried to go through the glass, not chew through the trunk.

Also I'm not sure it would just be able to hoist the car up like that. At the very least, the bite + weight would have just ripped the lid off.

You do know that imprints have been found of adult T-rexs that show'd they didn't have feathers, and that they likely were born with feathers but lost them as they grew.

>every raptor in this thread
Just because they had feathers does NOT mean they had WINGS

>and that they likely were born with feathers but lost them as they grew.
thats not how feathers work user
if that happened they'd have fleshy skin, not scales. they'd look even weirder, like hairless cats.
>imprints have been found of adult T-rexs that show'd they didn't have feathers
imprints found were from areas which are known to have skin or scales on other dinos, see pic.
feathers scales and skin can exist next to each other.
>find some raptors with the remains of feathers
The most primitive members of Tyrannosauroidea, dilong, was found with feathers and Yutyrannus, one of Trex's closer relatives had feathers.
And those were just off the top of my head.

What.
How.
Those aren't even related at all.

in all likelihood the car would weigh more than a Carnotaurus

why do ostriches and penguins have feathers but can't fly?

he thinks taking photos of fossils with different filters lets him see details trained professionals who went through years of training cannot.

among his other theories are pterosaurs are lizards and mammals are archosaurs

also pic related, his "reconstruction" of a pterosaur of some form?

>I know it's scientifically accurate
It's not,it's just a hypewagon

Oh well

no it is, We have feathers in possibly carnosaurs and definitively in basal Tyrannoraptora and quills in Ceratopsia. Thats 2 absolute opposite ends of the dinosaur family tree. From that it's probable feathers were an ancestral trait that predate the Ornithischia/Saurischia split in the Triassic

the question isn't so much what dinosaurs had feathers but where on there bodies and at what stage of development.

To be fair, zoos ARE kinda evil.

...

it depends what is more evil? leaving the last 30 wild whatevers to die at the barrels of the chinese traditional medicine industry or put them in zoos where they can live cushy lives where there waited on hand and foot and acctually be given a chance to live and breed?

>We have feathers
Where?

>mammals are archosaurs
...What.

There are people who swear up and down that birds aren't dinosaurs. They're mostly BAND faggots.

Nature preserves, dear user.
But I get your point.

What, are you not a bird?

But seriously though, Concavenator had quill knobs on its arms. At the least, it had quill like protofeathers sticking out. At the most, primitive feathers with a barb.

So where do you personally draw the line between Dinosaur and Dragon? Flying, breathing fire etc?

Now imagine that, but much bigger, lots of teeth, and named T-rex

>forgetting based Kulinadromeus

It had stage one and stage three feathers, the latter were thought to only exist on theropods.

Yi qi is the most dragon like dinosaur yet, and its still a long ways off.

Thats not a dragon, thats a Wyvern

That's where dragons come from though, some dude in the ancient world probably found a dinosaur skull and was like "dude lmao wtf"

>advanced feathers on a tyrannosaurus

Nah. There is already a large feathered dinosaur that looks disturbing similar to that who lived at the same time as Tyrannosaurus: Dakotaraptor.

Speaking of, anyone gonna get Saurian when it comes out? It looks great.

I want to see dinosaurs with more fluid robotic movements like birds.

And to think all those "dragon bones" were ground up for medicine.

Damn it China and possibly Mongolia.

>Naming a species after the place they were found

Why do they all look like they are flipping the fuck out?

Dangerous Games was enjoyable for its art and its weirdly anime fight scenes.

Coal is fossilised plant matter, oil is ancient plankton converted by temperature and pressure, literally not a single fossil fuel is actually made of dinosaurs.

Look, he posted it once again. You are posting bearded vulture, the most flashy and 'cool' bird of prey you could find, just to ramp up the cool factor of feathered dinosaurs. While in relity they were probably as boring as any normal bird of prey.

I'd rather get killed by other animal than get killed for having a kid fall into my cage.

some dinosaurs. Theropods had feathers, or at least most had some sort of plummage. But I have never heard of any evidence of sauropods having any plummage

>That little bird sitting on the Iguanadon's head

out of all the toy shows that came out of the 80s, this was by far my favorite. I taped the episodes and watched them until the tape died.

wow, I didn't know I wanted vampire T-rexes until now

one of my favorite D&D monsters right there, cause it's so bizzare but awesome

Well sauropods are closely related to theropods also evidence of dinosaur feathers can be found as early as the triassic which suggest that Ornithischia dinosaurs may have had some kind of feathers as well.

I'll never understand this childish insistence that dinosaurs had no feathers despite evidence to the contrary.

It reminds me of those idiots who are upset that Pluto isn't considered a planet anymore.

>Early paleontologists thought the thumb spike of the iguanadon was a horn
>Eventually somebody realizes it was a claw
>Immediatley scientists and pop culture artists decide that iguanadon must fight by just jabbing it's thumb into it's foes like some kind of ten ton feral fonzie
