There's several appeals to this comic. Part of it, is watching horrible trashy people be horrible and trashy. Then there's a stupid stoner comedy aspect. Then there's the (all too relatable to most people with addiction issues) depressing, aimlessness to it. This avoidance of adult life and dodging of responsibility, like a cracked out peter pan.
It's not for everyone, that I admit, but most good things don't have mass appeal, most good things cater to specific tastes that you may or may not have. Just so happens that things with mass appeal get more discussion because there's more people talking about em, yknow?
