She served as a good counterpart to Act 5 Rose, whom I liked a lot back then. Then she just faded away into the background, but every time she got screentime I was happy because her dialogue remained more-or-less of the same "good but not nearly best" quality.

Three things killed Homestuck:
1) Hussie's tendency to allow a story to get out of hand
2) Hussie's insistence on pandering to the lowest common denominators of his fandom
3) Hussie choosing to kickstart an adventure game before finishing the comic and not even having a concrete plan for the game

Void is more or less 'nothing', right? I get that this is supposed to be about using the void and 'nothing' to fight and combat, but that sounds like it takes practise and skill so I'd just take that shit literally and fight barehanded, literally with 'nothing'

Nah. Homestuck as a coming-of-age creation myth about internet friendships and growing up. It was presented as an affectionate parody of RPGs and text adventures that used the "web" part of webcomic to its fullest. And it was fucking excellent.
Hussie struck gold here, this is a story that's somehow managed to resonate with people old enough to have grown up with interactive fiction and instant messaging before social networks were a thing, but also with younger kids. It was a stroke of genius.

Unfortunately -- and maybe he's always been like this, or maybe this is recent -- it's clear Hussie these days does not care making something good and loved. He values his personal entertainment first and foremost.
Which is normally not bad: you can still blindly wander into success that way... unless your entertainment consists of hostile ironic humor genuinely meant at your fans' expense. And I think Hussie also values the false security of hiding, keeping quiet and avoiding responsibility over the bold honor of honest communication. And this played a huge part in the comic's butchered ending -- he did something truly awful in silence rather than do nothing and tell the truth.

It's a shame, but I think one of these days another artist will come along and make something that captures the same kind of magic Homestuck used to be made of. It'll happen. And it will be the beginning of something really excellent.

To answer your question, no. Without sprites we wouldn't have sprite^2s, the motivation of several characters (including humans) for playing the game in the first place, or the ultimate selves to round out Hussie's gnostic motif that he committed to since early on.

Princes of Space annoy the shit out of every- OH! What it DOES. Well, we destroy space and destroy with space, and interestingly are the only classpect that might theoretically be able to defeat an instance of LE by destroying the part of space he resides in, although such an attack would be slow based on Dirk vs Aranea.

I assume it'd be like when LE destroys the fabric of space-time, but he could be also using the Space powers of the White Wand and Equius's Void powers to do that. Other people liken it to The Hand from Jojo where the fractured space-time is invisible and space just squishes in to fill the void.

Like most classpect stuff this isn't 100% confirmed canon information, but it's implied that the Mage is the active counterpart to the Seer. Mage of Voids are impacted by the knowledge themselves instead of it affecting their allies.

I can't answer this question for you without knowing you. Most people here seem to have hated the end. I thought it was really good and I'm not the only one. It depends on what you want out of the story and how much specific mistakes Hussie makes are going to upset you.

If you barely remember the story then you probably won't understand everything, but then again Hussie barely remembered the story after he put down Hiveswap and resumed post-Gigapause.

Fuck you. This is LEGITIMATELY the worst concept in all of Homestuck. No exaggeration, no nothing; when you literally have two of Rose and two of Jane and two of Dave alive simultaneously at the end of the story (albeit one of each in sprite form) and they obviously have different priorities, different lived experiences and different lives to lead from that point forward, the idea that they're all just sort of different aspects of the same character doesn't work. They're going to have continuing, branching paths, becoming increasingly distinct from one another as the years go on, becoming more and more separate and unique people independent of one anothers' life experiences. The very execution betrays the premise.

For sure they over diagose it. Both of my best friends were also diagnosed ADD/ADHD when I was in high school. One might have had mild aspergers, the other was just low iq, I think. All of us were medicated at some point and hated it. They used to just sling that diagnosis around whenever they weren't sure what was going on with a kid, or when kids just weren't falling into line. I think they got the nail on the head for me, though.

The thing about ADHD meds are that they work the same for everyone. They don't treat the symptoms of the disease, but they stimulate you so that your productive anyways. It's a really weird thing to give 10 year olds.

Murderstuck in and of itself was actually pretty good. Create some tension in a boring and static setting, trim some of the fat in the cast, and create a new antagonist. The issue was the resolution, which was anti-climatic and basically made death feel less meaningful.

There was nothing wrong with Equius's character, although I'm surprised the Mary Sue Brigade™ hasn't started campaigning against Equius yet, because he doesn't have a lot of flaws. I'm guessing he's too close to Caliborn, their husbando, for them to see it.

So when was that? Personally, I'd pinpoint it to whenever Hussie came up with the concept of a manipulative asshole character that was supposed to retroactively become a main protagonist behind major plot points, get away with horrible shit, never learn and generally exist to get fans to argue with each other and frustrate the reader the whole way through.

Before that, the trolls were salvageable, all of them. They could all fit in the story because the story was about learning and growing up. When Hussie introduced Vriska, it was to shit all over this touching story he'd crafted, and that's when his personal fetishes for disappointing and "trolling" took over. That's when Homestuck stopped being a coming-of-age story and became a depressing ironic postmodern soap opera jenga tower of bullshit.

To a certain extent, I think Gamzee might qualify too, because it's nearly the exact same kind of shit but with a "lol killer clown" theme slapped on it. Not sure this concept came first, though.
