How the hell has Aquaman never had some giant legacy event? It'd be a literal battle royale. Black Manta, Ocean Master, Mera, the Aqua Lads, and others all battling for the throne of Atlantis in his absence. He's even got his long lost unused bastard son character to throw in there. It'd be perfect and great way to explore the horribly undeveloped society and history of Atlantis.
