>Take math for the liberal arts to meet your math requirement. It's balls easy.

aren't most western cartoonists shit anyways?

Get gud?
Go to a tutor?
Get off Cred Forums and go study?

Its a year of remideal shit. And then 10 hours a week for homework. Coupled with the crippling depression i already i have, it makes me want to die even more.

Just kill yourself fag

Just drop out. You don't need a degree to become a fucking cartoonist. Just need to know the right people.

Are your cartoons good?

How do i do that? And dont all mjaor cartoon writers have a degree?
There okay at best. Thats why i want to go to college, to hown my animation and writing techniques.

This
The cartoon industry is all about dem connections, if you don't have any than you can pretty much forget it.

Draw

Draw until you get good drawing

Then keep drawing until you can produce steadily with regularity

Then start drawing things that are good for attention

and hope someone notices

>The cartoon industry is all about dem connections, if you don't have any than you can pretty much forget it.
not if you live in japan

Whore yourself out on cartoon chatrooms, draw tons of fan art of current cartoons.

That would be hilarious if you gave up because of that, and ended up killing yourself so that you'd spend eternity rehashing how you abandoned happiness because of 10 hours of remedial homework. Everyone in the afterlife hates you for being such a wuss.

>He doesn't like math.

>hiring whitu piggu

the fact that bahi jd is allowed to exist in the japanese animation industry means they will allow you if you're good

Do you have to take math in college?
I remember that being why I didn't try for college. No amount of after school, tutors, summer school, etc could get me past basic math and even then I struggle horribly with numbers but I was in the top in all my other classes.
I've had the same phone number for eight years and i still can't remember it. Numbers just don't work for me.

some do but some don't.
Have you noticed that most cartoonists all fucking know each other? That's because they usually all go to the same art schools and hang out with each other and make tons of connections. Half of them end up dropping out.
You see pic related? This was drawn by a guy who dropped out of art school in less than 6 months and he went on to work at Disney as a concept artist. His work is good, but thats not what got him the job. He knew people that were already there and its not a secret the world of animation is super cliquey and they all get their friends hired.

his artwork looks like fucking shit

He's a concept artist. The quality varies greatly depending on the drawing.

Are you trying to be a writer for cartoons? That would recquire a degree, but since I assume youre american, you don't need to be a degree to be a cartoonist. Aka just drawing stuff. You don't even need to know how to animate. 99% of the animation is done by koreans any way. All the americans do is storyboard.

>it's okay to not learn how to animate
This is why the western animation industry is a fucking joke.

Unless you're taking physics (which would be really weird for a cartoonist), man the fuck up. It can take a while to click.

Okay rick, aslong as i dont have to lick your balls

>maths for arts students
>hard

>math
>hard
I find that math gets easier the harder you push yourself to succeed, like any skill
Don't choose math classes based on what you think or what you have been told will be easy, choose based on your current level of math education and skill

Explain why would you waste thousands of dollars on an animation degree when you will just be stuck doing storyboarding, which is nothing at all like animating? Blame the industry for outsourcing all the real animation jobs to Korea.

Math is easy, user.
It's simply following instructions, like cooking, or building a model. Half of math is memorizing what the instructions/rules are, the other half is applying them.

Drop out and do commissions, make a good name for yourself and then make a kickstarter

You're an idiot.

What do you need math for? I'm in the third year of my English major and I've never taken math once.

napkins are always free!

Math sounds like a Gen-Ed for you, but one that you're struggling with.

Take the course one unit at a time: do not stress out about how poorly you are doing currently, that is now water under the bridge. Your goal is to get a passing grade in a gen-ed, not necessarily a good one.

Get out of the house and go to tutoring/office hours/study sessions. It will suck if you hate people, but seriously get out there. Regardless if you are social or not, working out the problems with other people is a good experience and conducive to learning. Do not be afraid to admit that you don't get things, teaching/learning resources and gen-ed classes in general are there because undergrads are not expected to master that particular area of knowledge.

Keep focused on what you are actually in college for, and do not get bogged down with failing a gen-ed for your program. Talk with your advisor regularly about other options, and if you do not do so do not be afraid to introduce yourself and admit you have no idea what you are doing.

Read Finally: Draw up your weekly schedule. Plan to commit to homework sessions, even if this interferes with your current routine. This is your life now until finals.

Also: You ain't fucked until the semester's over.

I'm taking the other route of just doing shit and pushing portfolios and doing workshops in my freetime and I gotta say the worst thing is how everyone keeps telling me to move to shitty ass California

then literally start your own studio with your own animators? it's not that hard user, japan has been doing it for years

>10 hours a week
Come crying to me when you are doing 27 hours of studying a week

Are you being stupid on purpose
You better not be

Unless you are a math major you should quit bitching
Everything up to multivar is cake

There are lots of bad things about California but it's probably one of the best places in the country to live in user

Are u girl? If yes use that. If no kys.

>college kids bitching about not being able to be cartoonists when they have the fucking world handed to them by having the opportunity to be in an art school
>tfw third world immigrant doing wageslave hours at a soul crushing job where I only have like four hours a day of free time when I get home, literally have to fucking write and sketch at my desk at work to get any art work done on time and even then it's glacial, live in a crappy motel and don't know any artists irl, could never dream of going out to meet people at conventions and art schools because I'm too fucking poor to travel, fucking killing my health to just get demo reels and portfolios and comics out there so I can fucking have a modicum of hope of not being a miserable wagecuck for the rest of my life

>tfw realizing animation is the realm of bored middle class hipsters with no passion and if you give a shit about it and don't have a family to pay your way through art school you can go get fucked for all anyone cares
>know a ton of people that are ridiculously talented and could easily carry their own shows and yet they're poor as fuck and work in the mines to make ends meet and barely get to draw, some resort to drawing pornography because it's the only realistic way for them to get money drawing without knowing anybody

>every time, every fucking time I see some fucking Californian artist make some intentionally shitty looking thing for the sake of irony get a spot of animation on disney, every time some college fucked complains on tumblr about how hard art school is, every fucking time it makes me question why the fuck I even try, because these are the people who have opportunity given to them, and Ill be lucky if I even get hired at a company that makes fucking youtube videos

Shut the fuck up and fucking get through it, OP. Make your shit and be successful. Every time you give up, you waste opportunities thousands of others would kill for. You let every other loser down, not just yourself.

Lies lies lies lying liar who lies.

Everything costs too much.

L.A. is ugly.

Southern California is a blasted wasteland.

There's no water.

I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for work.

Now you're just making your *own* excuses.

Did you even read my post you fucking Kremlin cracker, I'm telling op if a fucking burnout like me with no free time can make the effort to make shit, he has no excuses to waste opportunity

I bet you're a shitty animator desu

>implying that drawing porn isn't a respectable career

as long as it's not my own characters idc

.

>didn't go to art school, wasn't allowed parentally or financially
>do art in spare time, end up getting a really sweet commercial art gig
>between work and life obligations, end up with maybe an hour or two a day to work on own sketches, hoping the expierence translates or I can grind up my savings enough to take a year off to draw my comic

I FEEL YOU. YOU'RE GONNA MAKE IT.
As long as you're making something and trying to improve, you'll get something good out there one day.
