ADHD the show. Seems like just another generic fantasy cartoon, but apparently it took him a long time to make so props, I guess.

I liked it and thought it was fine, but I feel like I'm not suppose to like it. Maybe I'm too desperate for more Slayers stuff.

I guess the longer shorts were more indicative of the full show than expected. Everybody rambles, a lot. It's not bad, though.

That was one of the reasons why I liked Archer so much - it was pretty fast paced with the humor.

That works with dialogue, not much else. Then it just looks like ADHD.

This show will never be good with the current pacing it has now. They have to start realizing they got more time to work with now compared to their shorts. Hopefully they realize that soon.

I finally watched an episode of this.

Not very good. I've enjoyed fast-paced comedies before, but this show just feels too fast. Humor wasn't that great either to be honest, I don't think I laughed once.

I did like the theme song though as short as it was, and pic related is so far the best character which might not be a good thing.

It probably won't be "fixed" until season 2? Which it will probably get.

The new episode is leagues better since it finally moved to 11 minutes. It's actually tolerable now.

My only problem is that Kyle's art style is the classic squash and stretch style that only really works when it's animated frame by frame, but he couldn't get the budget for that, so instead they have to tween like a motherfucker.

That works for Teen Titans Go. It doesn't work here.

I actually enjoyed these new episodes.

They were definetly less fast paced than the special preview that we were given a while ago, though it still was just a little bit fast pace.

I too gave this episode a chance, but the gags are going places, ruining any chance for me to get the gist of what the episode is all about at any given moment.

Speaking of which, does any of the minisodes/episodes explain WHAT exactly ARE magiswords and WHY Vambre and Prohyas have been entrusted with them, let alone what role do these swords play in their universe? Xiaolin too was dependent on magic gadgets, but from the first episode onwards it was made pretty clear that their whole world revolves around these artifacts.

They aren't entrusted with them. There is a shop that just sells them to whoever. They just really like them.

how was the thing Egoraptor voiced? im only interested to hear that, I always thought he would make a good va. Everything else looks really weird in terms of style though, its not quite pleasing to the eye..

He had like four lines, no real dialogue. He voices a cat character who just repeats the last few words his partner says. The other character does all the talking, The only unique thing Egoraptor's character says is when one of the main characters copies his schtick and he says "don't do my thing". At least Danny Sexbang sings the theme song.

my son (4) kept gibberishing mighty magiswords one day a few weeks back, i couldnt figure out what he was talking about till i typed it in on our dvr. i guess he saw a commercial or something, any way i remembered it was an internet short so i started putting the episodes on my computer so he could watch them. hes been obsessed ever since, and we waited however long to watch the premier. he will take just about anything he is playing with and turn it into a magisword, even a captain america action figure, screaming CAPTAIN AMERICA MAGISWORD. so now we fight all day with random objects around the house yelling CUP OF MILK MAGISWORD or TOILET PAPER MAGISWORD.

At least someone likes it, I guess that's what matters.

It's an okay cartoon. It's hyper, light and easy to understand. It's perfect for the audience it's targeted at (kids 9+).

That's one of the big problems here: there's no grounding.

For the kind of humor the series wants, you need to establish the fantastic elements in a way that lets you build episodes around them.

ep2 has extremely bad pacing issues(shit's way too fast) but ep3 doesn't suffer from it, but they both have terrible sound mixing the first if they can improve on these problems it can be TTGO except without having Teen Titans characters holding it back

It seems like they made a longer cartoon and then sped it up to 11 minutes. It feels really weird and unnatural. The only time i've seen a cartoon with pacing like that is the PPG special that actually was 22 minutes but was then sped up so it could fit into 11 minutes. Anyone else get that kinda feeling?

Blue dragon pet is annoying as fuck. The witch sounds like a certain white and purple poni. The pacing is still a mess. The artsyle is still dogshit. Pig queen was funny. Vambre's voice makes me diamonds.

Makes me just a bit sad that canonically Vambre wouldn't wear anything to cover her legs, not even to keep warm. Having a character with such pride in how nice her legs look always keeping them bare seems almost paradoxical.

I actually like this show. It can have a dud of a joke or two but nothing really dampened my experience. And their "full" episodes only extended to 11 minutes at best.So I think it all worked out for the better.

Their Vlogs are pretty interesting to look at. And actually sound and play out like an actual live recording. It seems like the actors are having fun with this.

Then again my expectations weren't very high to begin with so I was pleasantly surprised when I wasn't being assaulted by cringe.
Sadly some characters ARE annoying like the grup or whatever his name is being on screen for more than 20 seconds with dialogue. And some great characters being under represented.

The world doesn't really need to be super developed for the jokes to work. Granted it would have greatly helped with the shows probable run time if it did have a more fleshed out world. But it's just a silly short show series. So honestly it doesn't really need that heavy a structure.

Yeah as it stands the show seems to try and cram a lot of things into one episode, probably a holdover from its minisodes formatting. The first episode gives a bad impression of the show regardless because you're constantly jumping around everywhere and everyone speaks in runoff sentences, it's like periods don't exist in that world.

The difference is you could tell the anniversary special was sped up. Some of the voices were distorted, there were strangely short pauses, and the framework was pretty much the same as ever.

Magiswords doesn't even fucking bother with things like setup or giving jokes room to breathe. Sometimes you'll get a single second establishing shot, but then it's time to immediately rush through dialogue loudly so kids will think it's funny even if they didn't catch the joke.

It doesn't establish shit so there's no way to create familiarity or build on things, the timing is lousy, it can't pick a setting and is constantly jumping around in some cases because "cut to the next scene!" is their crutch, and all the plot points are thoughtless AND lazy so your jokes just end up being "lol butterdolphins!"

It's just fucking bad.

I agree with you about the art style. The actual atheistics of the series are among Cartoon Network's best (only Gumball is superior in my opinion) and while there are traces of "Cal-Arts" elements in the art style, the series has a very unique take on these elements which combined with Kyle's own artistic quirks creates a show that distinguishes itself from everything else in a good way.

These quirks and unique takes on trendy art styles is what made Thurop's Flapjack very pleasant looking and the lack of which made most of Thurop's next series, the Home Netflix series, nearly vomit inducing horseshit.
