Paranatural Update

>oh man i don't have an alt text. uhhhh reference, uhhhh um, um, Guytrap Threepwood?? this is hard
Venus is a man(-eating plant) of many words, some of which he even uses correctly.

This is parody right? Her spirit is a literal maneater. Has Zack been parodying sjws this whole time and we were completely bamboozled?

You mother fucking fucker you just had to make a thread right now after it was posted 4 hours ago huh?

I checked the catalogue and couldn't find it here, I wanted to discuss with my Cred Forumsmrades. What's an user to do?

It's probably meant to be ironical or some shit.

she's fat of course her spirit is about food

>the "-th" is partially a parody of incorrect old timey speech and a lisp
Regardless of whatever else surrounds the comic, the spirits are always 10/10 designs and characters.

>inb4 "Day must have something to do with Max" because panel 2 statue
>inb4 we switch to Abuelo Guerra because head

Stop introducing new characters and just fucking move on with this shitty fucking chapter you piece of dumbshit

This... Did no require an entire page.
Pretty though.

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit plant lives mattuh

This was to be expected here, or at least soonish, because she was a spectral and had an obvious spirit with her. But see below.

Most spirits get a pretty sizable entrance, either for visual impact or to outline their personalities.

The problem is this chapter is really, REALLY dragging on and there's no reason this scene should be happening here instead of in the next chapter. We didn't properly see Ed's until just this chapter. This whole affair is adding nothing to the already incredibly delayed plot and more central character conflicts that are being sidelined because of the horrible pacing and release schedule.

For a second, I thought her stand would be AESTHETICS.

One thing I don't get, though. Agent Day can see briefly by going into her spirit world and having Venus explain the situation to her. But how can Venus see? She got no eyes.

I see a couple of pairs of eyes between those statues.

Great Zack, you made a shitty version of the Gravemind you fucking hack.

Why don't you do some actual work and have him speak in some kind of Iambic?

I don't mind big intro's for the primary characters spirits, it's when we start getting them for the more minor characters I question the point of it, we've seen Stomo what once in 3 years? I'll look forward to Christmas 2023 and the return of Venus Guytrap then.

This is actually a pretty good design. A E S T H E T I C S and shit.

I really need to stop reading Paranatural updates. The whole thing flows so much better if you just pretend it doesn't exist for a few months.

Pentameter and hexameter are haaaaaard though.

It's literally holding its own introduction box.

I am amused

So is Zack just getting lazy with scheduling or is something else going on? I know he pretty much all out quit vibe last time I checked. 8 agree that this chapter is dragging on though. It's felt like forever

>Quest
>Not "Quetht"
One job.

underrated post

>guytrap

>quit vibe
Wot

I don't understand why everyone is fanny over this page.

It's a trap

>lesbian spectral
>spirit named Guytrap
I can already smell the blood in the water

People are "fanny" over anything they can find to complain about, these days (in terms of this comic).
There's legit criticisms, but they'll be babies about it.

>Some of which he uses
>which he uses
>he
>lesbian
Also people are pointing out the man-eater bit, but not the more obvious "Venus" part

I'll admit I'm just hate reading at this point, I no longer care about Hijack, or a spy trying to infiltrate the society. It's just been too long dammit.

Lots are upset about the pacing, I get it. Personally, I'm quite passive and only mind that it's going to be a bit to reach more story and new characters. Outside of that, I just check in every update and see the new page, then go about my business.

Yeah definitely looks like time for a premature scene change.

For once I really like this page, Zack's soft round pastel coloured style of late actually fits Day fairly well.

>yfw it turns out all the accusations of Zack turning tumblr were actually just misreading signs and failing to notice that he's actually trying to shift the comic over to his nee aesthetic

I don't care about the comic anymore, I only come for the biweekly drama.

he was just testing the artstyle of those new bubbles, right?

>having gay people exist as pandering for tumblr
>he's actually doing it so je jas an excuse for romance, brighter colors, and the rainbow
The madman

Ironic that Zack had to state that in-comic instead of you know...put in subtle details and make readers look for them themselves, as was tradition. What babies.Oh wait, I just remember the Tumblr fanbase consisted of literal teens.Like, they stated in their blogs that they were years older / younger than Isaac. Darn PNAT fans...they ruined PNAT.

>implying people didn't/won't pick up on romantic tones if it's sapphic
People still think Korra is just Super Good Friends :) with Asami, you know that?
Some people can't read the writing on the wall, others will refuse to, so you gotta break out the neon lights. Otherwise "lots of girls say they have girlfriends" or "maybe her butchness is a bold fashion statemen" and "the woman she loves in this song is the singer herself, but in the past"
Blame the morons, but don't be one-sided about it.

i always thought that paranatural was meant to be kid friendly, as in 'the comic i would want my kids to read'. This whole gay thing out of the blue just takes that away. People complain, but it was done better with Cody.

>Otherwise "lots of girls say they have girlfriends" or "maybe her butchness is a bold fashion statemen" and "the woman she loves in this song is the singer herself, but in the past"
What's wrong with that? Let them say it. Those statements will become less true as the author keeps throwing more and more clues.
Why is it necessary or plot relevant to ensure people know with 100% certainty that a character is gay right now?

>biweekly
at first i thought you were taking a jab at Zach's inconsistent updates

>People still think Korra is just Super Good Friends :) with Asami, you know that
i believe the argument is that, since the confirmation wasn't actually done in the show, it's not considered canon. While i do believe on the last 20 seconds of show they go lesbo, i can see where this comes from.

That said, LoK is a very bad example of "people not picking gay vibes" because it literally only happened in the last 20 second of show. Considering anything before is ridiculous, as motherfucking Tenzin had more "romantic buildup" with Korra than Asami by those standards.

This comic has some damn good art. You guys need to quit freaking out just because it's slow. Come back to it in a few years instead of waiting week after week for it, you'll be surprised how much it changes your opinion.

>i believe the argument is that, since the confirmation wasn't actually done in the show, it's not considered canon
Haven't multiple showrunners, the gods of the universe, stated that what it looked like to everyone is indeed exactly what it appeared two be?
>i can see where this comes from.
A reality completely divorced from the one we're in, yes.

Did you forget how we got about 50-60 pages of NO background in hitball? the art CAN be good, but at times it is definitely shit.

The art also did change a lot from what it was, i think for worst (his style is more.. round now) even if sometimes we get good pages.

I just read it all in one go after stopping two years ago when Hitball was just starting up. Honestly, Monster Pulse is a bit better about this

>i always thought that paranatural was meant to be kid friendly, as in 'the comic i would want my kids to read'. This whole gay thing out of the blue just takes that away.
That's what I'm pretty concerned about when Zack decides to publish it in print. (Though one could argue that times are different nowadays...) That, and Zarei.

>Haven't multiple showrunners, the gods of the universe, stated that what it looked like to everyone is indeed exactly what it appeared two be
irrelevant. If they state that Aang is a girl, does that make Aang a girl?

also, they don't own avatar. Nick does. If you simply consider that they get some sort of power for being writers, aren't you forgetting that this show has many writers? what if they disagree? i mean, what if one writer of ATLA states that LoK is not canon? for that, and many other reasons, it is completely irrelevant what the writer says. And yeah, not canon.

>irrelevant.

As if you get to declare that. I don't know why you're so upset, but you're simply not living in the same reality as the rest of us, user.

No matter what you type, Korra and Asami will still be making Sappho proud.

>As if you get to declare that
right back at you. Why did you come up with the rule that it is canon what the writers say?

>you're simply not living in the same reality as the rest of us
in your reality the writer can change the sex of a character by simple statement despite the industry and other writers denying it, and then later that night change it back to how it was because he felt like it .

Look, i'm not saying it's not canon; it is. But NOT because of what Bryke said, but because of what is actually in the show. The last 20 seconds were quite definitive on that.

>botticelli reference
>Makes venus conform to modern standards of beauty
Shitlord!

You seem to believe this is us going back-and-forth debate style. You're not going to change your mind, I'm not going to suddenly stop being right.

Honestly, since you like your delusion so much there's probably an anti-Korra thread on here you'd be more at home in. Regardless, the last word is yours, son

this one is machine and nerve
and has its mind concluded

this one is but flesh and faith
and is the more deluded

it won't be a back and forth debate because you don't even have an argument to sustain your points. You seems to be under the illusion i am the one "making claims" when the one that is doing them is you.

"it's canon because bryke said so" was your argument, in case you forgot. I merely pointed out that you can't prove that to be valid.

Have we met the spirit inside the umberella yet?

Nope, but I'd be willing to bet it's either a dog, or a cat/something spirit that's afraid of dogs. Either of these so that Isabel will be forced to get over the fear, the former being more like Guerrera's near-abusive style.

we did. It's a genderfluid asexual tyranosaur feminist muslim black asian called Tina.

Abloo bloo waaaah

yes, that's exactly the sound it makes when confronted with the patriarchy.

And Rowling said Dumbledore was gay, even though no one picked up on that beforehand.

Authorial intent counts, but if the story doesn't support what they say then fewer people will listen to them. Like how Bradbury said that Fahrenheit 451 was about television instead of book burning

Sounds like a cis. How triggering, user.

Shh, shh, it's okay. You're both idiots

>speak in some kind of lambic

Intent is everything. If I made a painting representing childhood trauma, or a song about a big life change, then they'll always be about that even if people think it's a random painting or a breakup song.

>And Rowling said Dumbledore was gay, even though no one picked up on that beforehand.

Going back and rereading book 7, there's no way he wasn't giving Doge the wand every night

>You're both idiots
omg Hate crime

MOOOODS!

It's a decent page.
It shouldn't be where it is.

Like, shit, MORE of his pages should be given room to breathe like this, but this really isn't the fucking time to be introducing us to Little Shop of Horrors here

Not if it's unsubstantiated.
Korra and Asami was a last minute throw. It's obvious in the ending, but there's nothing supporting it before that point so it feels shallow.

If you don't substantiate your intent, you're no better than people who rely on Deus Ex Machina.

You're mean.

You're so overly sensitive you're offended by insults not even directed at you.

Don't get so triggered when someone calls you out.

Are we a general already?

>Intent is everything
they intender for LoK to be a good show, and still it's not.

intention is nothing without the act. If you paint a house intending to paint a dog, it's a goddamn house.

The pacings much better if you come back and read it from the beginning every 6 months or so. I don't know why anyone would read a webcomic like this. It must be excruciating.

>Intent is everything
That can't be. user intended for his comment to be right, therefore it will always be right even if you think it's wrong.

>I don't know why anyone would read a webcomic like this. It must be excruciating.
The first 3 chapters gave a rather false impression of how condensed and fast paced the stories seem to be.

Zack should've put a disclaimer on the comic's possible length. "Hey guys, you still following this? You shouldn't have to. It takes years to finish one chapter. Just forget about me and come back when you have kids or somethin'."

....or Zack could've just planned ahead which arcs should be loaded, which ones can be shortened + expanded for one chapter within some definite page limit BEFORE he grabbed his pencil.

I dunno what you mean, user. A dodgeball game taking up dozens of pages simply smacks of planning, if you ask me

>follow the advice and wait to have kids to finally read paranatural
>get married, have kids, see them grow older and finally teach them how to read
>introduce your kids to paranatural, as you read with them
>finally gets past the part where you left
>they are still in the hitball arc
>mfw

None of the hit webcomickers plan.
That's why their stories exceed 300 pages in the first place.

There was a lot leading up to it, in that season. Nobody noticed because it's just gals being pals.

>Unsounded regularly goes on hiatus and still manages to go faster than this piece of crap.

It's doable, since page one in April 2011 I've turned 18, been to university, gotten a Job and become a functional adult. Max meanwhile has been at school 3-4 days. By the time the school takes a break for the holidays, my grand kids will be begging me to stop reading this boring old comic to them.

Intent doesn't determine quality. They can't make a house a dog but that's a horrible example. It'd be more like painting a bear-like dog. It may look like a bear, but it's a dog.
Intent doesn't determine real life facts and views, but that's unrelated and you know it

i think they are in the fifth or sixth day depending on what you count.

>They can't make a house a dog
so even if that's their intent, they can't do it. That's why intention doesn't really matter in the end. Or better: intention doesn't make canon. It may clarify some things, but it can never be claimed as part of the story.

>It'd be more like painting a bear-like dog. It may look like a bear, but it's a dog
yes, it's still a dog, but can he claim that the bear-like dog does not looks like a bear? no, even if for him it looks just like a dog.

How can the correctness of a comment about intent be a "real life fact"?

>It'd be more like painting a bear-like dog. It may look like a bear, but it's a dog.
But user, the anatomy of bears and dogs *are* real life facts.

Moving day
>1st day
Isaac trip to school day
>Isabel and Ghost train day
Hitball day

You right I'd forgotten about moving day. So we're on day 5 I think?

>They can't make a house a dog but that's a horrible example. It'd be more like painting a bear-like dog. It may look like a bear, but it's a dog.
So intent is everything (except when you don't like it).

Did Zack get inspiration from Steven Universe

That's like saying any two characters being friends lends substance to them becoming a couple at the literal last minute. And that's wrong, because friendship doesn't translate directly into romance.

Where? I see nothing but thorns and roses.

Of course it's possible Venus doesn't 'see' at all, but spends time when things are frozen sending out thorny feelers to feel out the environment, in order to describe it to Day.

He recognized the large sentient train by the shape of its form in the spirit world, not by looking.

LITERALLY THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND

Agent Day is for:

[_] Hug
[_] Snug
[_] Fug
[X] All of the above

why is agent day cute here

but not cute here

He said lesbian spectral, not lesbian spirit.

Venus Guytrap is her fabulous lisping sassy gay friend, who will undoubtedly inspire autistic vore porn someday.

>Unlike Juan, I'm not into daddies
Everytime

Because you have poor taste

>LITERALLY THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND
more like the blind leading the bland

Every new spirit is going to get a Kill La Kill/Suicide Squad intro page now?

>Thinking Miss Day is cute in some panels, but not in others

SHE'S ADORABLE IN EVERY PANEL, YOU UNCULTURED SWINE

THANK YOU. Finally, SOMEONE with good taste.

How would he know it's sentient then?

You can't tell if something's sentient by touch. Just...trust me on this

God, I miss old Paranatural

I can't remember anything in chapter 5 as enjoyably ludicrous as the love train
