I asked in the last thread, I'll ask again. How are action scenes? And I'm not talking about how well they're choreographed, rather how they're shot. JJ had decent choreography but shit cinematography and editing. They used way too many frantic cuts to make the scenes more exciting and it looked like shit. Is it the same case here?

I've just finished the 5th episode and man, is nobody else so god damn bored? I feel like every episode is Luke telling Cottonmouth to his face that he will beat him, Cottonmouth saying how annoying Luke is, and nothing actually happening.

There was a significant dip in quality of fight scenes in DD S2, which sucks.

I've found that the action scenes, when they are there, are really decently done. The scene with the Crispus building was really well done, and it really showed off just how powerful Cage is, as well as how much he holds back.

About to dive in, honest opinion/rating of the show? Is it at least better than JJ?

Just finished it up so I'll give my thoughts. In my own opinion, it's right up there with DD SE1. A lot of the characters have good set up, especially Pops and Cottonmouth-- I was actually a bit sad seeing Pops die. I was worried on the way the new director would handle Luke coming after Jessica Jones, but I actually like him in this. The sound track is amazing. It bolstered what would've been boring scenes and 'gave 'em a bit of life. And the overall plot makes sense with a bit of complexity, without adding any obvious confusing plot holes.

Though, I disliked how they rushed Dimondback's backstory and how he's basically a psycho druglord. As mentioned above by another user, the dialogue can be hit-or-miss.

Overall I'd give it a 8.5 or 9/10. A lot more story-focused than Daredevil but lacks the amount of action.

Why is barely anyone watching? Jessica Jones was on thread 6 at this time and this blows out the past two seasons of Netflix Marvel we've gotten

While the acting was meh, I actually enjoyed it overall. It has some high highs and some low lows. Cottonmouth and Mariah were really good though.

Understanding this character isn't a matter of being a black person or a white person. Luke Cage is an individualized person among other black men and men of other ethnicities as well. I'm not talking about whether or not a certain collective demographic liked the character or not, or what the sales figures for his book were. None of that really matters.

The point I'm making is that classic Power Man was a distinct character with a distinct aesthetic and style within himself and his world, and it doesn't make sense to even write this story if you weren't inspired by that foundation. Mocking his classic costume entirely just comes from Bendis, and there's no real reason that joke should still be stuck to the character. Bendis is the one who popularized this whole subversive mockery of the classic superhero style of story telling in favor or his lame ass self aware pseudo neo noir apathetic sitcom style of story telling. Power Man was sacrificed upon this altar.

only episode 4 so far but Cottonmouth is not what I expected. And I like that. Fisk and Purple Man were in control at the beginning of the whole show. Cottonmouth has a bit of control but he loses some control right at the beginning, he also seems to have a watchdog right away.
