...

Children, do not be alarmed, but the Falkland Islands have been invaded! I repeat, the Falkland Islands have been invaded!

The Al Gore doll.

"You are hearing me talk."

Fuck me, this was great

*GASP* someone actually saved my reaction pic from the other thread!

From Season 4 episode "Treehouse of Horror III":

Shopkeeper: Take this doll, but beware, it is cursed!

Homer: That's bad.

Shopkeeper: But it comes with a free frogurt!

Homer: That's good!

Shopkeeper: The frogurt is also cursed.

Homer: That's bad.

Shopkeeper: But it comes with your choice of toppings.

Homer: That's good!

Shopkeeper: The toppings contain potassium benzoate.

Homer: ...

Shopkeeper: That's bad.

Homer: Can I go now?

Hmm... what he's typed will be a window into his madness.

...

>"I wanna make it legal for policemen to beat 'em"
>"We need another Vietnam to thin out their ranks a little"
>"And I'll make Ted Kennedy pay; if he fights back, I'll say that he's gaaaaaay"

I grew up on Schoolhouse Rock so can't help but love this scene

I don't understand this one

One day I'll actually watch The Simpsons

Chocolate Microscopes?

You know those guitars that are like

Double guitars?

Skinner: More rubber stamps.

*Skinner then uses an "approved" rubber stamp on the proposal.*

Give me five bees for a quarter, you'd say
youtube.com/watch?v=-Zk_SwGI-q4

I couldn't think of my favorite joke, but I think this might be it

There's no video of it, but the part from Bart's Comet where Willie's shooting at the Big Butt Skinner balloon and he's mistaken for an Iraqi Fighter Jet by some passing jets

I love Homer and Marge's exchange about Don Quixote, encapsulates their relationship really well.

But the boogeyman bit is also a classic.

I miss the character animation the show had, you actually had a reason to watch instead of just leaving it on in the background.

...

Willie always puts a smile on my face

youtu.be/i2q0T7QXETs

>"Hello! My name is Mr. Burns I believe you have a letter for me."

>"OK, Mr. Burns, what's your first name?"

>"I don't know"

>cut to outside

>"Great plan Bart!"

What is his first name?
Quincy?

Montgomery, sometimes called Monty.

Thanks for that

I mean I found videos but I don't habla espanol or sprechen sie deutche

Always Aurora Borealis.
youtu.be/u1h8cHUnP9k

Those scots who ruined Scotland weren't true scotsman

Montgomery, you cockass.

I thought it was Charles.

I was partial to this one:

>Marge: Can we get rid of this Ayatollah tee-shirt? Khomeini died years ago.

>Homer: But Marge, it works on any Ayatollah! Ayatollah Nakhbadeh, Ayatollah Zahedi... Even as we speak, Ayatollah Razmara and his cadre of fanatics are consolidating their power!

I'm just generally partial to the "So I sez to mabel I sez, we'll continue this later" jokes that are quick and completely out of character.

It's this.

youtube.com/watch?v=24uyQ9YFrHQ

But this is a close second. One of my favorite Treehouse episodes. Filled with gold.

My friend

It is

youtube.com/watch?v=5aCWB1zAbic

The eyebrows get me every time.

...

Charles Montgomery Burns

youtube.com/watch?v=s4GAj2v4BIE

>I THOUGHT THE GENERALS WERE DUE!

Charles Montgomery Plantagenet Schicklgruber Burns.

His accountant's face is the best part

This.
We can close the thread now

This is probably one of my favourite Simpsons joke/scene.

youtube.com/watch?v=w7NeRiNefO0

One of few times Simpsons made me actually laugh

>dawolfey.wordpress.com/2011/05/13/dont-cry-for-me-im-already-dead-by-rebecca-sugar/

Holy shit Rebecca Sugar made this?

you call that a knife.

THIS IS A KNIFE!

This scene is more relevant than ever. Really sad that I saw someone using a GIF from this to tell people to avoid third parties.

Sideshow Bob singing the entire score of the HMS Pinafore, and all the sight gags that come with it.

FAH-UH-STAHHHSSSS

But that's a spoon.

youtube.com/watch?v=rIy_RXX_VLE

Am I cool, guys?

America needs a preferential voting system

>Your jacket, she burns!
>Then I burn with her! For I would rather die, than have people not know what stores I have been to.

Classic. I always feel bad for Chalmers when Skinner doesn't let him see the Aurora Borealis.

>We'll get [the lemon tree] back or choke their rivers with our dead!

>You tried your best, and you failed miserably! The lesson is never try.

>hat's too big
hah

Oh fucking shit

Really? She really did this?

Because I thought that one guy was basically Steven when he got older and his halfbreed genetics started to break down.

Best lesson.

>Really sad that I saw someone using a GIF from this to tell people to avoid third parties.
Were they idiots or just didn't want their candidate to lose?

That clip is basically an endorsement of the third party

Fuck I don't want to turn this shit political because we all know where that goes but STILL

And the brother kind of looks like Lars.

youtube.com/watch?v=wX1x7pfH8fw

They had banished the awful lemon tree forever, because it was haunted. Now let's all celebrate with a cool glass of turnip juice

It's not an endorsement it's just making fun of how irrelevant they always are.

Moleman is a goldmine

youtube.com/watch?v=dGGfnLBTLdY

They were trying to argue that a third party vote is a wasted vote.

Fucking hate that "wasted vote" thing. By that logic every person who votes for the candidate who didn't win wasted their votes.

Well....
But ultimately it's just a self defeating logic. Nobody votes for third parties because they don't think anyone else does.

>We'll be rich. Rich as Nazis!
>[Excited murmurs of agreement]

This makes me wonder if the network said they had to show the pilots survived, or if they just thought the joke was funnier that way. It feels like a modern episode would just kill them without comment.

>he does a fake voice, even though he expects the worker to not know who mr burns is

The saddest moment

Exactly. And they also say "This isn't the time to vote third party! This election's too important!" as if they aren't going to say the exact same thing when the next election rolls around.

There is a third option.
They wanted to find an opportunity to inject that message about health care and used this as their chance.

either
>what country is this from?
>it no longer exists
or
>what the hell is this some sort of tube?

Ultimately, in a sense it is wasted. Maybe you want to vote for independent party A, but major party B would be your second choice, while you absolutely don't want party C in power. The problem is that by voting for A, you're robbing B of a vote, making it easier for C to win.

First past the post voting like we use basically guarantees a two party system for that reason. Because we know how the system works, we know it's better to vote for the least worst instead of the best choice.

youtube.com/watch?v=GunaXxJifPA#t=4m37s

Just incase the time stamp doesnt work, starts at 4:37

Bart, get out! I'm piss!

You didn't recognize the grotesque facial contortions?

Third parties don't get elected because they're all terrible with generally idiotic, unworkable policies and their supporters are usually disproportionately morons

Best scene

what.
also, sauce? that's a creepy comic but the artist has a fantastic style. i need to comission him

Apu: Save me Shiva!
Flanders: HA, you might as well pray to Hawkman.

I can't believe no one has put forth this scene. youtube.com/watch?v=JqUiVUld33I

I'm shocked, shocked!

Well, not that shocked.

Homer in an elevator with Mandy.
> Think unsexy thoughts
> Think unsexy thoughts
> WELP! This is my stop! *mashes emergency stop*
You seriously don't know?

That's clearly a Lugia, user. Are you into weird, possibly sexual Pokemon crossovers?

>I'm not normally a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me, Superman!

>NOW HOW 'BOUT A HUG?

youtube.com/watch?v=ePrZBmP_6cw

Vietnam vet with PTSD Skinner was the absolute greatest.

It's definitely the best running gag on the show

Back when I as a kid, I didn't knew much about news and politic, so I thought the joke was that rerun of Krusty show was outdated because he was still trying to be educational, something he didn't bother with at present times.

I completely agree.

youtube.com/watch?v=39iTJGJYSD0

Blue-Haired Lawyer: Principal Skinner, "The Happiest Place on Earth" is a registered Disneyland copyright.

Principal Skinner: Oh now, gentlemen, it's just a small school carnival.

Blue-Haired Lawyer: And it's heading for a great big lawsuit. You made a big mistake, Skinner.

Principal Skinner: Well, so did you. You got an ex-Green Beret mad.

[he finger-thrusts the first goon in the Adam's Apple, then kicks the lawyer in the chest; they both go down groaning; as the second goon runs away, Skinner picks up the lawyer's briefcase and flings it into the air; in the distance, it knocks down the goon]

Principal Skinner: Copyright expired.

They got him back though. They killed his Edna

>Skinner picks up the lawyer's briefcase and flings it into the air; in the distance, it knocks down the goon
I haven't seen that episode in probably close to a decade but I can still remember the arc of the suitcase perfectly as it descends on the goon's distant figure. That's how you know it's a good gag, when it stays with you like that.

Isn't kicking a ball in basket forbidden?

Hasn't the simpsons done an election couch gag yet for this year.

Recent Simpsons or not, they were pretty good.

Ahoy there, dean. I understand that you're taking suggestions from students. Well, me and my fourth-form chums think it would be quite corking if you were to reinvest that money back into the local energy concern.

>Homer, this is never easy to say, but I'm gonna have to saw your arms off.
>They'll grow back, right?
>Oh... yeah...
>Phew!
>Homer, are you just holding onto the can?
>Your point being?

youtube.com/watch?v=BDcQ20lHtjs
Fun fact: I was almost as slow as homer to get what Marge was getting on. It's only when she said he preferred the company of men I got what she meant, and even then my first reaction was "how can she know?"

>Mr. Simpson, you do realize this may result in hair loss, giddiness and the loss of equilibrium.
>Yeah yeah yeah, just gimme the serum.

youtube.com/watch?v=AXVmBTZftIE

the first 11 seconds

actually, scratch that, it's when she said "homo".

How could you not know?

"I will not be a gaincoat"
What's that? why is Lisa agaisnt it?

It's even worst seeI must have the most broken gaydar in the world.

I had to be told for me to get that Smithers was gay. And that was after the the Troy Mc Clure special (I thought the letter was about how Smithers's job had never been very well defined).

Game cock.

A game cock is a cockerel that's been bred for cockfighting and I imagine it's the mascot or nickname for students at a South Carolina university.

The bigger reason they don't get elected is that they don't have enough money to have a ballot in every state.

youtube.com/watch?v=H-UwhmSIZzg

" I can't live the button-down life like you. I want it all: the terrifying lows, the dizzying highs, the creamy middles. Sure, I might offend a few of the blue-noses with my cocky stride and musky odors. Oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called "City Fathers" who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about "What's to be done with this Homer Simpson?""

Such a winning combination of writing, voice acting and animation.

All the third party candidates should unites with a single platform: reforming the electoral system to switch it to pluralism and once it's done, reorganise elections.

At least all of them must understand that an electoral reform is in the interest of all 3rd parties candidates for all of them to join forces, right?

EY, MISTAH PROIME MINISTAH......ANDY!

ATOMS

That whole ep is so fucking great. Just great jokes and unlike 90% of shows that would have just gone the laziest route possible they managed to capture the inherent ridiculousness of Australia in such a perfect and specific way
>"Mr. Prime Minister!... Andy!"
>Wolumbaloo Dirt Monument
>"I'd have called them chazzwazzers"
...and also on a meta level that they just made a whole episode to shit on Australia like that. The George H.W. Bush ep is similar in this regard, what a weird concept for an episode but they just nailed that type of person in a way that was so perfect down to the tiniest detail

The Best.

They should have just killed Skinner off after he and the kids got snowed in the school. He never had any authority after that. IIRC, they just played up him living with his mother.

Talk to me about the Presidency once a third party starts collecting seats in the Congress.

How did Squeeky Voiced Teen's ancestor know about the Japanese becoming a powerhouse?

Also:
SMITHERS! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME ABOUT THIS 1929 MARKET CRASH?

That's a problem with a lot of characters on the show, they've flattened out a lot of the interesting contradictions in them and just made them one-note sadsacks so Skinner can't be the world's lamest square who's also got a weird dignity and authority to him, he's just a sadsack. Ditto Moe, not an endearingly sleazy loser any more, just a sadsack

>How did Squeeky Voiced Teen's ancestor know about the Japanese becoming a powerhouse?
That's the joke

>SMITHERS! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME ABOUT THIS MARKET CRASH?
-Well, sir, it happened 25 years before I was born.
-Oh, that's your excuse for everything.

Mr Burns has a lot of great jokes you wouldn't appreciate until you're older but he's always been one of my favourite characters next to Moe. Also love the Citizen Kane references in the early seasons.

>All opposed
>NAY
>Who keeps saying that?
>Everyone looks next to a meek older man and a stronger, muscle bound guy

I don't think so, I think we only ever heard about it posthumously, and saw snowball II in the flesh

>Remember that time I got caught stealing all those watches at Sears? Well YOU have a gambling problem!

Lmfao. That one

Jesus haha

Teddy Roosevelt tried to do that with his bull moose party but it just split the republican vote and gave the democrats an easy win. Maybe if all the vaguely left leaning independents formed one party and all the right leaning independents formed another at the same time it would spread the voter base more evenly but what are the odds of that happening.

>Remember when I got caught stealing all those watches from Sears? Well, that's nothing because you have a gambling problem.
>And remember when I let that escaped lunatic in the house because he was dressed like Santa Claus? Well, you have a gambling problem!"
You now are imagining this scene done Familly guy style.

When Bart is briefly dead and in heaven in Bart Gets Hit by a Car, we see Snowball I.

Looks like Snowball II but white.

The show has too many funny moments and I have trouble naming a single joke that's above all else. However, out of the stuff mentioned ITT, just reading this greentext made me crack up:
I love the guy's Droopy voice.

Also, the episode "PTA disbands" with the gag that mentions the name of the episode, and the backstory they told on the commentary.
youtube.com/watch?v=FTlVRUkwYRI

>the backstory they told on the commentary
Please continue

How about something newer?

youtube.com/watch?v=OwwcJiH7tNc

My favourite part is where one of the dragons says the phrase "dragon porn" so that you know that the punchline is that it is dragon porn.

One of the people working on the episode thought that the threat of the Parent-Teacher Association disbanding as a result of teachers' strike in Springfield was really serious business and the most thrilling part about the episode's premise. To poke fun at this person's excitement, they gave the episode that name and had that scene with a guy jumping out the window in panic at the mere idea of the PTA disbanding. The PTA doesn't even disband at any point in the episode.

No, but, aren't there "less than 20 minutes" episodes before episode 1 where we actually see Snowball 1?

I thoroughly enjoyed this piece of trivia, thank you user, you seem like a cool guy. Feel free to drop any more on us.

I have trouble remembering right now any interesting stories from Simpsons commentaries (I've listened to the commentaries of the first 10 seasons or so), but Futurama's got some pretty amusing anecdotes and joking around.

The Simpsons movie would probably be a lot better received if Hank Scorpio and Globex were behind the plot against Springfield instead of the new character with the same voice actor.
Also Rainier Wolfcastle should have been president.

They couldn't get the real people on the show so they used better expys, but then it got famous so instead of using their character Rainier that everybody liked, they just used Arnold for a cheap joke that would have been just as effective if Rainier was president.

The Simpsons movie was actually well received.

Zombie Simpsons more or less started after it.

Reiner was actually seen still in Springfield in the movie.

And It was actually funnier wiht Shwarzenegger as president.

No it wasn't, he cucked his wife, he's as bad as bill clinton. You're not supposed to cuck girls

Doesn't that make him being an incompetent president funnier?

I'll never not laugh.

okay, it's in lower quality, but you were missing some gold jokes, there.

This scene should always be a case study for cartoonists, a serious subject matter, diffused by a gag and you can see the escalation of absurdity between bob's songs, from a capella, to making use of crude props, end ending in full costume with the Union jack in the background. This was the shit.

>Zombie Simpsons more or less started after it
I feel like that might just have people have a problem with ruining Hank. Hank is probably best left untouched. References to classic Simpsons can't build up Modern episodes, Modern episodes can only drag classic Simpsons down.

Who's been on Cred Forums long enough to remember steamed hams threads?

how does a lower middle class family afford an oven with a turkey rotating thing?

Is it more common in the states?

How come classic Simpsons aren't on any streaming services? I'd kill for it all to be available on Netflix or something.

I still say this any time someone mentions going to the gym.

They're relatively well off. They've got a pretty big house and two cars.

And lobster for dinner.

You mean the Tracey Ullman shorts? Yeah.
I don't remember which one, but we do get to see the original Snowball.

FXX has every Simpsons Ever doesn't it?

They're not really middle class. From what I've heard, even smaller jobs in nuclear facilities pay very well.

I've watched Simpsons casually over my childhood, but never really got super into them. I'm aware how funny it can be at times, but I'm also aware there are some big swing and misses in the series. Tell me how to get into and get the most out of the Simpsons. I've already been told the new seasons are tripe.

I'm honestly not sure to what degree people are ironic when they say they thought this moment was hilarious. If folks genuinely like it, that's fine by me, but I'm not sure..

Why it isn't funny to me:
Predictable and straightforward.

Think I mainly found it so funny because I first saw that episode as a kid and probably hadn't heard a ton of variations on that joke yet.

Still think it's funny but probably wouldn't as much if I saw it for the first time today.

classical wisdom is to only watch seasons 1-10, some purists will argue closer to 2-8 as the first season is pretty shaky sometimes and seasons 9 and 10 have some dud episodes that hint at the horrors to come.

It's what I use. It's given me an unnatural hatred for 5 hour energy.
