The thing that's crazy about that is that I heard how secluded Jim Davis is, and that he hardly draws anything for anyone anymore/invites people to the Garfield studio.

He said that she was named that during his Deviantart days by one of his friends since originally "Kurami" as a character and a series was supposed to be very manga influenced.

But after he dropped all that for cartooning he kept the name because the character was already heavily established with the name and it'd be weird to name her anything else, and that it feels like a very memorable name.

Which I can't really disagree with him there, the name is pretty marketable.

That reminds me of one of his older characters, Bree Kay. She hasn't appeared in this new incarnation of Kurami (for reasons yet unknown) and she was a southern-belle that really loved herself. This is the only known picture that was shown, and this was at the beginning of life with kurami's creation.

The mother may also have huge tits (maybe the biggest in newsprint history for all I know), but hers are drawn in a way where it's very well in plain sight and hard to avoid, but doesn't take away from the comic. He really hit that hard line between "realistic anatomy" and "fetish art" where it can be enjoyed by both parties (for obviously different reasons) Where as yours is more than likely going to attract just fetish artists and admirers

What's impressive is that he managed to get it into actual print. He still has his eyes on national syndication. I think he'll get there one day.

Yes he did. Even more, he hangs the drawings of fanart (friendart, as he calls it) on the same wall as the drawings from the professionals like Davis and Hartman.. He values them all the same.

I'd rather see the threads pop up naturally. If there's longer time between threads it introduces more people to the comic. I'm happy this thread got so active, previous Kurami threads have been kinda slow.

He dislikes tumblr. At one point I was helping him set up a website for daily strips and such, but I'm no good with web design. I'll ask him about starting up a twitter again. He's almost completely oblivious to anything about Cred Forums, except that these threads exist, so I wouldn't be too worried.
