Simple resizing doesn't work on things that aren't proportionally accurate, and even some of those come out badly because of how small the text gets. You need someone that knows how to blur properly or is committed enough to redo text altogether in those cases.

Seriously though if the proportions are off it's all fucked.

Just cut off the unimportant parts. This: can easily have everything above their heads and below their feet removed. Then you'd just need to extent it horizontally to the right. That can be done with photoshop.

I sort of disagree with this guy. I don't think it'd be WORSE if the text was larger, but I don't think it NEEDS to be either.

I'm guessing that it was original sized to look right at its original size, and then when it was shrunk down the text got smaller with it instead of trying to keep the text at the same size.

But really it's not much smaller than the text on most of these pics.

You guys will see my banner the day the judging begins, and no sooner. Don't want to risk someone else re-editing or reuploading it as theirs and cutting votes for it in half.

Nice! Better than I expected it would look based on the original pic. I actually like your version better than what's described here: If this: was shrunk down to maybe 60% (or whatever) of its current size and put in the lower left corner it would probably be useable as a banner.

It doesn't help that most comic panels are closer to 60x468 than 468x60. I'm convinced I'll never get this set right.

Are you using photoshop or gimp? There should be an option to reduce the colors and change buffer, and those settings should reduce file size.
