If image limit goes down from 4mb to 3mb and gifs a similar amount, that'd help while still not being a draconian limit like tumblr. Slightly slower servers wouldn't be too bad, Cred Forums is pretty damn fast, so even a 15-20% decrease wouldn't be too terrible.
Option one is definitely the lesser of 3 evils, Cred Forums passes likely won't sell enough to be, well, enough.

Hell, it's not even very useful on Cred Forums -- it seems like in-site archiving was meant primarily for porn boards, where quick access to more threads would be appreciated. The only logical solution is to delete the entire board and let the userbase go and set their own shit up outside of Cred Forums. Is it fair? Not really, but there doesn't seem to be another choice since there is no way to integrate that userbase back to any other board.
