I'm not exaggerating when I say that this episode traumatized me. I was in kindergarten when I first saw it. I'd never considered what a bug's eyeballs actually looked like. The reality shocked me so badly that I was deathly afraid of any and all bugs for nearly a decade. I used to become paranoid that there was something crawling into my ears or up my nose. I once forced myself to vomit because I felt like a bug had crawled down my throat. These weren't even hallucinations. I was just hypersensitive to everything that happened with my body because of my own paranoia.

Now, I only freak out when a bug touches my skin. I'm cool with the spiders that live in my bedroom. There's a spiderweb above my head as I type this. But when a fly lands on my arm, I freak the fuck out. I literally cried three years ago when I tried to shoo a fly off my hand and I just smashed it into itty bitty gooey pieces. Not out of guilt, but because it was horrifying.
