American comics are heavily politicized where manga stories are mostly about personal growth.

If the discussion is limited to Superhero comics based on your pic, then as an industry and from a creator standpoint manga is better.

The big two are in the IP business. Manga industry operates like actual prose publishing. This is reflected in the relative size, source of revenue, views on creator rights, number of new and creator-owned properties, and number of working professionals in each.

Black Lagoon has all that shit and is better than anything out of the big 2 in 20+ years.

Manga gives me more story I want to read, more choices in genres, cuter characters, and art that appeals to me more.

Favourite manga is Punpun. read that shit in my depression days. So I kind of connected to it at the time. Shits a masterpiece. (better than any comic I've read.) But I still say that comics are overall better.

Art can mostly be a preference thing, as for how much is garbage, it's kind of hard to determine that, there's certainly more manga being made, but on average who can really know.
I mean fug, basically more than half of the Big2 is complete garbo right now, and how much can indie stuff effecting that ratio.
