At least the Star Trek TOS/Planet Of The Apes crossover made sense, but hey, always good to see DC playing nice with the indie companies

Yeah it's pretty interesting so far.

Instead of landing in 1973 at the start of Escape From the Planet of the Apes, Cornelius, Zira, and Dr. Milo ended up in like the late 1800's or thereabouts. Dr. Milo died while saving them, and Zira and Cornelius took control over the Mangani and raised Tarzan alongside their own kid Milo.

The mainstream public doesn't know who the fuck Kamandi is. Most people who know even the slightest bit about Kamandi and are otherwise not hardcore DC fans first heard of it from Linkara's review of Kamandi: At World's End.

Flash at least has a currently-airing TV show and is going to be part of the Justice League movie. Green Lantern had a movie in 2010. The Justice League cartoon also helped introduce new audiences to both of them, even though they were different characters in the roles than the ones DC/WB has been promoting as of late. Kamandi hasn't had jack shit.

People who aren't already fans of Planet of the Apes are not going to buy a crossover with fucking Kamandi. And I can guarantee that a lot of existing Planet of the Apes fans probably wouldn't buy it either.

That would be nice, honestly. Currently Transformers is tied mostly to Marvel because of Marvel's past mercenary handling of licensed comics (like Zoids, Transformers, GI Joe, etc) but Hasbro kind of pulled away from them.

You end up with weird fuckery where the Space Knights are based on a Hasbro toy (ROM,) Bug from the Guardians of the Galaxy is a Micronaut, and Death's Head and Circuit Breaker are Marvel characters who started in Transformers, but Marvel can't use their origins since Hasbro is a separate company.

Meanwhile Hasbro is buying up animation studios and building an expanded comics universe of their own, and even owned a TV channel for a while. They're aggressively trying to grow beyond just the toy industry into a multimedia conglomerate, which makes it a little less likely that Disney will gobble them up like it does everything else. If they started freely tying their characters to non-Marvel franchises it would make Hasbro a little more independent of Disney, and show they were willing to stand on their own.

Transformers have been IDW for a while.

I know, that's what I was saying. But they used to be by Marvel, and so did all the Hasbro toylines.
