What I would do is keep very calm and casual and everytime they brought politics up around me I would takes a completely different absurd stance, but remain casual about it.

By being really casual and aloof (to the point where you're not trying to form an argument and don't really make counter arguments) and saying absurd crap, they either realise it's pointless trying to discuss politics with you, or they loose interest in discussing it all together since you're trivialising it and make its seem silly entirely.
