Media and unquestioning patriotism is the main reasons IMO.
Most Americans believe their relives hold way more value over others, think almost everybody else is out to get them, and are taught by being given information and told to just accept it as truth instead of questing why that's the truth. It's not just patriotism to be honest, it's all forms of subjects in schooling. Americans are proud of being ignorant and anybody that isn't a walking movie character is a loser to them.
