That's how agnosticism was defined for us in a university here. This makes sense. Your distinction of agnostics into two groups does not make a lot of sense.

Humanity have in history come up with 5 possible things that can happen after death. The void as in atheism, in which case everyone loses and there is no logical reason to pursue that.

Something better like a heaven or a better reincarnation. Which has a logical reason to be pursued.

Something worse like a hell or a worse reincarnation. Which has a logical reason to attempt to avoid.

Something neutral like a different but approximately equal reincarnation or just another world. In which case there is nothing to pursue.

And that the soul becomes one with and "comes back to" some sort of "world soul" which is nothing to pursue or avoid.

An agnostic will in all religious views that involves hell or worse reincarnations experience such a thing because they never do any spiritual practice. Which also disqualify them from any good or better result. The rest of the possibilities are available for someone who pursues a better afterlife as well, but at least they have the oppurtunity to get a better afterlife and avoid a hell.

Firstly, the number of things that can happen after death is not limited by human imagination, and is certainly not five. However, one of them is particular favoured by humans for obvious reasons.

Not only are the number of things that can happen infinitely many, the number of methods to reach the favoured goal is also infinitely many. But a few methods is favoured for obvious reasons (the abrahamic god).

Lack of belief in God would not get you to say "god doesn't exist". Atheists do believe god (as it described by church) doesn't exist, and agnostics are different from them in a way that they do not have an opinion.

Also there's no way you could pass any opinion about god existing or not as knowledge. It's all beliefs.
