Why is there even a school for this non sense?

Not unless they offer a major in memes

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Hahhahaha fuck muh life
That's a good one

>not majoring in memeology
literally kys

k, keep me posted

...

this is some Justin RPG Treudeu level of thought.

makes sense, giving prior occupation.

As someone who went to art school I cannot agree with this statement. Art school will teach you nothing that will get you through life.

Why did you even go?

I hear most positions in the intelligence community require at least a masters in dank memes

The problem is there are too many of them by far, and they teach degenerate art instead of technical skills.

I'm pretty sure most impressionists wouldn't even be allowed into an art school today because there is """deep meaning"""

A few good art school where you help actual artists learn the fundamentals of oil painting, sculpting etc would be nice.

>not studying memetic illuminatism at the University of Cred Forums and getting a PHD in Cred Forums

So that they come to realise the subversive nature of the Jews and go on to lead their country out of their influence, then possibly die in a bunker in a few decades?

>Sushi glutton
Fuck leftists and their love of sushi

"Artist, Musician.. Hmm, what should i put in there aswell that will make me look sassy. Well, Brenda does ALWAYS tell me i'm such a sushi-freak. Sushi glutton, yeah that sounds quirky enough, i'm sure everyone'll think i'm SO witty."

I wish these people would just die.

>arts school

Top kek

back before kebabs were a threat you could look for a career in art and make a living from it

today, it's just not gonna cut it as you are probably gonna get culturally enriched by these fucks.

*there is no """deep meaning"""

3 generations of my family went to some for of art school so I went to keep the tradition.

>Open up Cred Forums
>It ain't me starts playing

dont they know that art school literally creates and LITERALLY creates hitlers?

Allah forbids art of people, animals, objects or their god, just simple geometical patterns and flowers are ok.

you are fucked.

Real art school is super tough. My school had a 60% drop out rate in the first two years.

Now we have these little vocational art schools. Like little "learn to make video games the school" that just fast track you through a few online tutorials for Maya and audacity before handing you a bill for $100,000.

i know Hitler was an accomplished painter but i fail to see how Hitler did anything wrong.

There's a reason Starving Artists is a thing.

Art as a career is dead, it's a money laundering scheme now.

What if they get rejected?

>Send them to the re-education camp

What the fuck? Survive the future?

If all I'm gonna be able to do is work at Safeway and McDonald's anyways why should I waste money on a degree first?

I've seen very few people with just art degrees that make much more than minimum wage. Not that I disrespect people who work those jobs just if they waste money on a useless degree first

Hell get a ---studies degree. At least there's a chance the UN might hire you

Every time

if some university started offering a major in Applied Memetics with subtle Cred Forums references in the public description I would apply to transfer there immediately

This is actually what liberals believe.

is art school really that different in usa? where i live here, art school could be everywhere on job, photography, graphic designer, fashion design, and even web designing etc.

If you teach your kids, they lose.

I think this is the master plan.
We're going to get a whole generation of Hitlers.

Science, or real manual works if low IQ, are the only non-degenerate and useful fields to work in.

Art is GOAT, but aesthetic relativism killed it.

Learning illustration is always good, you don't need books for it either. Just a pen and paper.

And an assload of patience and a knack for engineering.

Becoming an animator or author of comics requires a certain passion. Talent can be substituted, passion can't.

Heil brother!

It has a high dropout rate because only loser retards would unironically go to art school in the first place.

Artists have actual skills, though. It wouldn't be a very complete education, though.

Holy shit, thanks OP. I needed a good laugh.

>tfw could not predict the crash in rare pepes value

This. Talented artists don't need to go to school for it.

University level art courses are a fucking joke, Ateliers are where people actually go to learn traditional drawing / painting skills.

Art graduate reporting.

Don't do art.

Well... Maybe this faggot is right, I mean, in the near future machines will take all the basic/physical jobs.. so what will be left for us will be in the realm of design and arts...

I never quite got the left's association with Japan. A lot of lefties love it, but Japan is pretty hard right and gives lefties a shit load of reasons to bitch about it and complain about how they aren't westernised enough with modern liberal values, taking away from it, what makes Japan, Japan.

I mean, it's not like how alt-right weebs think it is, some extremely racist state, but there is a high degree of ignorance owing to the poor standards of education with regards to anything outside of their own borders (worse than American tier)

What does it mean when you can tell the author is a girl just by the title? Am I sexist?

lul

yes she'll be starring in "art film" online

Thanks for the helpful insight d00d

I went to school for graphic design (shut up! I have a job at least) and they never even remotely taught us art skills. They threw a book on color theory at us, and then said "MAKE DESIGN NOW LEL". Most of what we learned was all self-taught, just by reading tutorials online or looking at design work by accomplished individuals. Not one textbook they demanded we purchase for class was needed, nor used. So I stopped buying them. Why waste the money? My grades didn't suffer, either way. They also filled our course line up with complete bullshit. I had to take a class on bookbinding. Bookbinding! What the fuck am I going to do with that?

Luckily, I'd been drawing and illustrating since middle school so I wasn't too bad off once I graduated. But once I started looking for a job, I found out design firms wanted:
Webdevs
Videographers
Illustrators
Photographers

In that particular order. And preferably someone who knew how to do all of those things. If you were a fine arts major, get fucked. They didn't want/need you. Go paint vaginas on a trashcan somewhere else.

The place I work, they automatically trash applications from fine arts majors. They won't even look. Why? No portfolio. No skills. There are so many morons in schools around the world right now studying something that will net them zero money, and the entire college apparatus is equally to blame for taking money knowing full well what they teach will never benefit students in the slightest. The professors weren't knowledgeable either. They were late-life refugees, hiding from the free market.

In the end I paid thousands of dollars for a piece of paper. Everything I know was self-taught.

So says every "art" "graduate". Talent can't be learned. And only nepotism will get your shit sold.

me too, though I just skimmed through it out of curiosity for the craft. Richard Williams is very energetic and funny for his age.

Physics PhD here;

Make more money selling my art than from my doctorate.

I've tried to learn how to draw, dozens of tutorials and books. It really it hard and time consuming.

Most of the time you do need to draw early in life to get good, or just spend a lot of time.

Seems like the only reputable school is CalArts. Even then, it's really hard to get into and very competitive. Just off the top of my head, three or four recent shows (Flapjack, Regular Show, Adventure Time, and maybe Clarence) on Cartoon Network are from CalArts graduates.

How could you laugh at this? Capitalism has destroyed true education.

Studying art is a way of expressing your own creativity. It's a way of bringing your creation into the world. It's a way to defy current power structures. It's a way to truly assert your existence. It's a way to feel more connected to yourself, the things you create, and indeed the world itself!

How could you squander this chance at existence by beating yourself with obedience, and passivity. Create something. Study art for it's own sake- not the sake of corporate slave drivers so that you may endure a life of wage slavery.

Did ITT Tech forgive your student loan debts????

She does realize that science degrees require technical writing, knowing how to write a scientific paper and how to cite sources right?

And that if we fuck up on citation we could lose our careers right?

Or you know, the fucking HOURS we spend in the lab observing and recording phenomenon in excruciating detail.

Hell even my field notes have to be well written. I'm a geologist, my field book could be called into court as evidence and that could be the difference between me getting sued, going to jail or walking free.

Fuck this entitled whore and her dumbass writing degree.

that gif makes me hard

It is mostly that from what I see from across the street at my school of engineering, the art students seem to focus on media and music related shit. The problem for them is there is no need for so many of them. Many of them treat school as a means to party for 4 years.

What kind of homo actually uses that squiggly font for their phone OS?

What kind of queer are you OP

Machines are already doing art m8.

>Artist, writer and musician

You mean my zero student debt, because I wasn't a stupid dickhead in high school and got straight-As and applied for scholarships, which I got? And what I didn't receive in the form of scholarship money, I paid for with a night job as a designer at the local newspaper?

I feel no pity for people with student loan debt, sorry. You didn't apply yourself. You didn't work hard. Now suffer.

Art and design is an incredible meme, take it from a dane.

>reputable

calarts is for networking, not for learning art

I think it's more likely to be things like writing to be the last to be replaced or perhaps five star chef dishes, shit like that would be hard to create. Although given enough time even those will be replaced.

He's right. technical skill are doomed and going for a stem is betting against P=NP. Automation and AI will render stem redundant. Arts is the future.

I'm serious.

That was actually a story on local news. I believe they said only current students could apply for a student loan forgiveness. Possibly recent grads too.

Honestly, why go to any school advertised on TV?

Lets use our countries as an example. You live in a more advanced society than I, in my country a man made wood table is way more cheaper than a danish man made wood table... Get the point?

Because it's ground zero for leftist/commie/kike subversion and they will weed out anyone that is not ready to be a soldier for the cause. Mainstream education is turning into this now.

but niggers don't have souls

>getting a boner from marble
that's what art means

All absolutely true.

It's actually a great case study. I think it exposes the heart of cultural relativity, in which aesthetics supersedes political reality.

Consumer logic with a liberal inflection.

Survive the future? Typical libcucks, seeing the future as a threat instead of what they own.

>Automation will render technical skill redundant
Not in any field where the extra capacity will be met with ballooning demand. In laboratory testing we have 10% growth in demand for tests year on year. This is before adding cutting edge diagnostic tests to our repertoire which I assume will be brought in if there is a saving on the more routine testing.

With robotics and computing helping us out it looks like we might meet the demands for testing by the doctors.

Within 300 years human endeavor will be completely transformed. The AI revolution will change the world.

What game is this?

But what you admire is the essence of art: the skill, the patience, the feeling...

True, I attended a talk by Roger Dean, the album cover artist who was on record ultra plagarised for the enitre look and vibe of the world in James Camerons Avatar, the dragons, floating islands, everything.

He said years ago when he was in education they taught him the full skill set, perspective, using paints, all of it. Then they just stopped. Now the art teachers do not have the skills, forget the students.

As well as doing album covers he designs futuristic homes and interiors. The skills are gone unless you download the PDFs of old at books.

>Threw a book of color theory at you

Beats the curriculum I had lel. Bookbinding was on the menu also. Some of the teachers are proffesionals and can at least give tips from valuable experience.

That's the Jews, or at least the Orothodox Jews. Muslims are apparently okay with representative art, as long as it's not the Prophet.

Mbae?

Do you think we'll really become a jobless society in our lifetimes? I feel like it's just a meme. I don't expect AI to become that advanced in the next 60 or so years.

So they try to justify it because of the whole "post scarcity all the jobs will be robots" meme. Pretty funny really. There will still be loads of jobs needed, and even more advanced research jobs will open up so the incentive to go with an advanced scientific qualification will go up.

These fucking art degrees are as useless as a black "history" class.

It's true. Only burger-flippers will survive the oncoming apocalypse.

Some experts say it will be 50 years until the singularity, after that it is completely unpredictable.

It's all part of their plan destroying the west. They can't do it more obvious

>sushi glutton

god I fucking hate numales

What I admire is the technical perfection, more than anything.

I'm a musician. In music, technique and structure is everything, that's why you don't listen to (((abstract relativistic music))). This modern art bullshit only happens in visual arts (painting/sculpture), nobody will take you remotely seriously if you just blow a flute with your asshole and produce random sounds over a 10 minutes piece. There's no reason to think visual arts and music are different except that it gets perceived by different senses.

flat out mad.

I have a pretty stable second income from doing art requests for people. I never spent a penny on a course, or on my software. All tutorial vids and free software. This means luckily I have actual qualifications for when I want to apply to an actual job.

Art is a display of technical ability and that's it.

There is no fsggot feeling in art, just skill. When you start adding emotional meaning to a piece you've lost.

Architecture is one of the highest forms of art you will ever encounter.

It's bait, they want more kids to fall for that bullshit so there will be more people trying to vote for socialism

You are posting christian propaganda. Stop that.

this. The more people that are not qualified to clean a toilet, the more the communistfags can push their shitty ideology. You would have to be a horrible parent to ruin your childs chances of a career like this.

This.

But I don't hate all modern art or minimalism. It just needs to be put in its place and seen for what it is ...

You look at a masterpiece of sculpture or on a canvas from centuries ago and then look at modern art and you say to yourself WTF happened. It literally feels like a meteor hit earth and all this knowledge and technique was lost.

Well a meteor did kinda hit earth I guess...

Thanks Marx!
Thanks Jews!

Hitler was rejected from art school.

PragerU are turbojews

Real Art School, as in Fine Arts really is hard. I applied for it and you have to hand in a portfolio of studies. Portraits, still-life and even technical illustrations. If you aren't capable of drawing with almost photo-realistic accuracy, if your toning and shade is off, if your mastery of perspective sucks, if your anatomical accuracy is lacking, just don't even bother, into the trash you go. They won't even allow you to try the theoretical entrance exam where you have to know most of art history with technical terms ranging from the stone age through all the classical stages of art history to post modern wank, with exact knowledge of most landmark works right down to current day physical location.

I tried when I was a kid, but gave up when I saw the other failed applications who had waaaaay better artwork than me. All classical studies btw.

I don't know how it goes in Murca, but I'm guessing that was referring to the type I was describing here.

The terrible thing is, with a perfect classical education, the guys who come out just die off as alcoholics, because the degenerate art market doesn't actually want skill in their money laundering business. Why employ a guy for lots of money, when you just sell a toilet for a museum, once the guy you sponsored as a political candidate appoints the "right man" for the museum directorship? And you get your state funded back-hander by getting a ton of money from the next auction.

I find it comfy user. I'm sorry I triggered your autism.

Yeah but they want to appeal to disaffected FUCKING WHITE MALES to become good goys.

I remember reading some (I think) Fortune article in a lobby about how people stills are the future. Here's hoping the robots aren't gonna put us autistic STEMtards out of work, Pajeet's doing a good enough job of that.

>But I don't hate all modern art or minimalism. It just needs to be put in its place and seen for what it is ...
Me neither, in fact I like flat art and material design.

Nobody pays for software bong.

I just got meme'd into art school because I was good at art and I was 17 years old. I didn't know what I wanted to do or study. So off I was sent.

But agree about the overhead. If you have a computer even just a laptop, and you hustle you can make decent money or supplemental money doing this stuff for very little cost.

DONT DO IT. ART STUDENT HERE. GET THEM PROPER ART LESSONS FROM PEOPLE THAT TEACH THE PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF IT INSTEAD OF FUCKINN FUSSING OVER THE CONCEPT ALONE.

ALSO, ART SCHOOLS DONT TEACH YOU TO HELP YOU FIND A JOB, THEY DONT TEACH YOU HOW TO MAKE MONEY OUT OF YOUR ART. IT IS AT THEIR LOWEST CONCERN. TRUST ME.

In my final honours hear and everyone I know is somewhat annoyed that we pay thousands per semester and get like 1 hr of class with no studio sessions and tutors speak with us for like 10 minutes, the rest of the time they want us to email them......

Yeah flat graphic art can be quite good.

Their ulterior motives don't concern me, many of their videos make good points and I watch them for that reason.

The sophistry of modern society is amazing to me. There is a literal army of workers who work long an d dirty hours, for admittedly pretty good pay, maintaining a relatively seamless infrastructure that allows most of us to live a life of ridiculous luxury compared to even fifty years ago. The only time it becomes apparent is when something major happens and the army of workers is overwhelmed, almost always by a natural disaster. Infrastructure has almost become invisible to the average modern citizen to the point that we're no longer investing enough to maintain it.

I think there's a real question of whether we can reach a singularity before the infrastructure collapses from neglect and society regresses a couple of centuries technologically.

>cant write out Bernoulli's equation

Shiggy diggy doughnuts

Its just to round up followers and their videos are generally misleading.

I know, I minored in graphic design (don't do this).

>Baww electricians should be paid more!
You think everyone, everywhere is not being made to slave with equipment that is ready to fall apart and with falling or stagnant wages?

The west has been in recession for nearly 10 years now.

Funnily enough, graphic design has a fuckload of jobs here in Australia, especially for foreigners with poor English.

As for anything else, using adobe programs or whatever, youtube tutorials have been made for nearly every obscure function of photoshop etc.

I would strongly advise not to use youtube for drawing skills its full of shortcuts and hacky digital art. Most people lack their crucial fundamentals and can't construct or do perspective at all.

Graphic designers are the most employable 'artists'.

Every restaurant menu or store sign was made by a graphic designer. Simple functional art like directional arrows and things you'd find on packaging.

How the fuck did he not get in?

>sushi glutton
how is that possible?. i ate a bunch yesterday and my stomache almost turned from all that raw fish.

Jews.

>Degree

Oh that's a good one.

The people that work as artist's for big name stuff like Marvel movies, Magic The Gathering illustrators, etc. will all tell you that if you want to be hired then the only qualification is a good portfolio.

The question is whether or not you can draw, not whether or not you have a degree.

So what you should be asking yourself if if the college you're going to go to will teach you how to draw, or if you have to do it yourself.

Most of the people in the industry have their "do it or die period" where they take 2-3 years studying 12+ hours a day grinding the fundamentals of art and building up their portfolios (like the guy in pic related) and then they start getting work.

Unless you're going to a snobby school that ACTUALLY teaches people how to draw like fucking Carnegie Melon then you're going to be taught useless information like how to dumpster dive for scrap metal and turn it into "freeform sculpture" or useless liberal leftwing bullshit like that.

There's a reason the unemployment rate of art school graduates is around 52-53%.

Where did I say that? Electricians make good money. As do electrical linemen. People who build and make things are in demand, at least here in Burgerland. The push from the left towards liberal arts education is to ensure an indoctrinated public who will be dependent on a socialist state to provide for them.

Go "post" yourself you degenerate bender.

agreed, can't stand that shit

Burger education strikes again.

I think its really sad that such a talented guy had to throw away his dreams to help his nation. Such wasted potential.

Same prerequisites apply for cleaning toilets.

I had to take a communications class last year and holy shit
Everybody in there wanted to do some sort of liberal art major or be a psychologist

I went to art school

It was expected that you show up (you would drop a whole letter grade if you missed more than two classes), show improvement in technical skill, and produce a body of work suitable for a professional portfolio.

Most of the kids who would drop off where usually rich and pampered. Fully expecting art school to be about smoking weed, exploring your feelings, and nude body painting, not something academically rigorous and challenging.

Why do people like this just automatically assume that all STEM majors are cerebrotron autists that lack verbal intelligence?

Not that I'm this generation's Ernest Hemingway or anything, but the people studying liberal arts that I've taken composition classes with speak and think in a register that I'd expect from middle schoolers. Good diction and sentence structure are lost on most of them.

...

...

I don't see the problem with taking Art Majors, but as many said before and from my own experience real prestigious and highly regarded art schools are excruciatingly difficult to get into. I'm not saying they don't help but you need to truly motivated to put in the work and realize they wont give you inspiration.

I think a good comparison would be to athletes. Less then a a few % make it to the pros, so its good to have aspirations but also to be firmly on the ground on your expectations.

Still just from a hobby/life enriching skills POV. If you taking a hard science degree or working/studying It doesn't hurt to take classes in painting or even really nity gritty music/art theory. I mean when you think about it Da Vinci was more of a engineer then an artist and learning practical skills like drafting, geometry and even (in this age) and firm base of programming logic fundamentals can really help when it actually comes to putting bush to canvas.
Also if you suck at STEM majors, I think art is a good alternative especially if you can market your skills to creative projects that are more abstract.

Art is a stupid word that has lost all meaning trough the ages. Calling something you made "art" shows how up your own ass you really are.

"art" fits beautifully into the "everyone's a winner!" mentality. does it look like shit? too bad, you cant criticize it - it's "art"! everyone's an artist, yaaaay!!

A major where you only have to write your opinions about things. This is what it produces.

AUF DER HEIDE LIEGT EIN KLEINES BLÜMELIEN

fukken saved

Animation major here. My art school experience was very different than this. We were expected to understand life drawing, perspective, and composition before we were even admitted into the animation school. It was so rigorous I didnt make it in the first time In I applied. I think the biggest failure is on behalf of highschool art classes where expression and identity are taught as being more important than craft and technical skill. In truth they're about equal in importance, but I went into art school thinking I could just draw cartoons.

The future is STEM. Arts will not make you money period.

cant tell if hes a secret dread lord with a life mission to spread as much suffering as humanly possible

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

You sound like someone whos never met an art major. Attendence is almost always mandatory, and you're expected to spend about 4 hours doing projects for each class session, 2 if youre okay with getting C's. This usually adds up to about 10-16 hours of out of class work per week and that doesnt include your other classes.

Professors can tell if you don't spend that much time on your work and your grades WILL suffer for it.

But I bet you also couldn't predict the MASSIVE fucking spike in value from Clinton calling them out
Rare pepes are becoming rare again

If art school involves painting with lead then sure.

Just because its art doeant mean its good art.

>The future will be robots
>That means no one will need to know anything about robotics

Yep huge job market, considering you can make robots that repair robots, so all is left is a couple technicians per cluster of thousands robots.

Neat foresight murrica.

Bitch, if I can get good grades in Philosophy any poor sod can do it.

For fucks sake, I've never gave attention to english classes and look at me now, shitposting on 4chin.

Not saying this isn't a dumb article, because it is... But with coming age of mass automation, art is going to be one of the few things humans have a monopoly on...

see, if the school requires and teaches craftsmanship, and teaches an able craftman to become a master craftman it doesn't matter what the subject is, it's a useful education.

there's too many degree mills where they don't teach you to hone the craft, they simply teach you about the craft vaguely and throw in a bunch of junk.

i was dumb and went to a degree mill, then read about what they did in class at an actual school...

i mean, that guy always had the ability to draw naturally, but you know he put in an insane amount of effort to learn and improve beyond his basic ability, studying anatomy and history and spending thousands and thousands of dollars practicing.

i can see schools being able to give you structured systems to hone that practice and provide the right things to study in the right instances.

fucking triggered.

You're retarded.

jesus christ this faggot kike didn't even start to make an argument until halfway into his shitty boring retarded faggot article. This is why I HATE THESE STUPID FUCKING """"(((ACADEMICS)))"""" AND THEIR RETARDED LIBERAL MAJORS. CONSIDERING HIS POSITION HE SHOULD BE AT LEAST ABLE TO WRITE AN ARTICLE THAT DOESN'T PUT ME TO SLEEP.

Memes are a stem topic though

His paintings were out of (((fashion))).

>le robots meme
If you think about the age of robotics and what jobs would be the less desirable and most needed (aka highest paid) you end up on the simplest of things
I've been playing 7D chess all along, so I'm majoring in toilet cleaning

Why go to a school ? Doesn't Cred Forums offer the best training ? We meme so well and hard that we will make Trump president and Hillary a corpse.

>apply to art school
>get rejected
>start kayak camp

Yeah but employers want to see a piece of paper from an accredited meme school

I didn't need to - you posted a video I've watched that is wrong on so many counts.
So I'll reiterate.
Nope.

>hurr durr art school
>What is draughting

Stemfags BTFO

To be fair many people end up with a pretty good job with a Cred Forums degree.
Shilling sounds fun and they should earn enough.

That's actually pretty damned funny.

He wasn't very good with human figures, I think the complaint went. He was a competent artist, a good one, even, but they probably had a dozen other starving artists with more well-rounded skill sets in Hitler's tier when they were considering applications.

Libcucks are ruining cuss words for me.

>Black and brown people are executed by police...
Uh, no. Cops don't target Tans since they're the ones who want Blacks killed.

...

Also a great short story by Harlan Ellison.

yeah we didn't need an art student to know this faggot

fuck this triggered me

Drawing geometrical figures is ezmodo compared to drawing anatomically correct humans. And even his landscapes aren't THAT good. The best thing is that most of nowadays' comics also have utter shit anatomy.

I'm pretty sure that first sentence "Just because..." should have a period but then again I wouldn't know as i don't have a
BA
