You cant

Minimum wage should be luxury wage. I don't ask for much.

/thread

Why not $20 an hour? $50? How about $30,000 an hour?

Stupid communist fuck

>rent goes up
>price of food goes up
>everything goes up
>small businesses cripple

Why shouldn't I be allowed to work for less than 15 dollars if that's what I choose to do?

If minimum wage is doubled my pay will also be.

Then I'll be making $250K/yr and $15 wont be shit

Its not about the number, it's about relativity. And your unskilled labor will never be relativity valuable to mine

/thread

If you get 15 then I want 30

Only in America buying a flat-screen TV every month is "living wage"

/thread

it would work if you for rid of every minority group except asians and never ever let women have a place in politics again

If sandniggers from mexico are taking your jobs for less then minimum wage, you should be lowering minimum wage so you have a chance for employment.

Min wage is a living wage.

>niggers knowing how to spend money

While OP doesnt realize that just having higher minimum wage is only a band-aid, his heart is in the right place. No one should work 40 hours a week in the most powerful empire man has yet known and not be able to provide a decent life to themselves and their families. So we can agree that simply raising the minimum wage will not do, what are some possible solutions to this problem user-kun?

I will say this. There was a time when you could not even graduate high school, get an entry level knuckle-dragger job, and get paid enough to afford a house, a car, food, and support a family including a wife who didn't have to work.

It's a shitty time to be alive in that sense. No-one fucking owns anything, banks do. Mortgages, loans, credit extensions, financing, re-financing... it's shit.

15 isn't a living wage in Beach front communities! Help socialism I need you to make these people give me more money!

You know what a minimum wage says? It says your boss would pay you less if he could. It means the job you're doing is worth less in the marketplace than what the law has commanded your boss to pay you. The minimum wage does have it's place as a measure to protect workers from abuse, however. But a "living" wage would be to fuck with the market in too volatile a way. It would fundamentally upend the law of supply and demand.

go move to venezuela

Here in California the minimum wage went from $9 to $10.50 and guess what.

My boss didn't increase my original $10.50 wage to compensate for the minimum wage increase.

:^( I make minimum wage now even though I fought hard for that $1.50 raise.

>minimum wage goes up
>prices go up
>people who already make above $15/hour get fucked because their pay remains the same but everything costs more

I read somewhere recently that more than half the workforce in the United States is making $30,000/yr or less. How the fuck does anyone live on that?

Define "living wage"
>utilities/rent/insurance
>food

If you can't do that for under $8/hour you're doing something horribly wrong

What's an argument against a $15 minumum wage?

Similarly, I know some of you hold the position that there shouldn't be a minimum wage period. Reasoning?

well, that statement is your opinion so I really can't prove you wrong.

...

The guvment passed their debt to the plebs.

Yeah just fuck my labor cost up senpai i already pay my cooks 14-16 if you bring the wage from 10.85 loonies to 15 my cooks will leave for more competitive wages and if i want to keep them my menu cost will go up thus killing my business faggot

Everyone makes 15$/hour minimum
cost of everything goes up
Nothing changes

...

Big corporations are funding this hoping it will pass giving them a reason to decimate their workforce while destroying small business. Prove me wrong.

Learn a skill and use those learned skills to get a job that requires said skills. Min wage jobs are for people who have no skills and need to learn responsibility. It is the first step in the workforce.

Inflation is real OP not just made up ok?

If you artificially increase the minimum wage what's to stop everything increasing in price at the same rate?
Government coming in and telling private companies how they should conduct business?
Isn't that fascism?

Based Friedman already has
youtube.com/watch?v=ca8Z__o52sk

You forgot people losing their jobs, social mobility shrinking and businesses emigrating. Among many others.

(((banks)))

real minimum wage.
0

A wage is something to be defined between you and your boss. If are valuable to the company you will get paid more, simple as that. Dont like it? Open your damn business and stop with your commie faggotry.

Companies aren't infinite money pots from where you can summon 15, 20 or 25 dollars an hour for no good reason.

If the minimum wage was 15 dollars companies would have to lay off 50-60% of their workforce and make the remaining 50% do double the work or replace the 60% with automated robots that don't want a wage at all.

This means that even more people would be on the streets not being able to get by at all.

My preference for freedom is why I'm against any minimum wage. If you want to take away my right to work for any wage that I choose then you better have a damn good reason for it.

And (((who))) owns the banks, and in turn owns everything?

I'm not necessarily opposed to the minimum wage. I support the minimum wage as a worker protection measure. Most economists believe it's a good measure to stimulate demand, but agree that too high a minimum wage would lead to a very deep recession. A mainstream measure would be to raise the minimum wage to around $10. A few go as high as $12, but only a few. There are almost no mainstream economists who support going up to $15.

The law of supply and demand is alive with the value of labor as much as any good, service, or commodity. Like I explained here earning the minimum wage says that your job isn't worth the value that your employer is forced to pay you. It's worth less. The minimum wage artificially inflates the value of labor, the cost of which is passed on to the consumer. We accept this to a certain extent because worker protection is a good thing, but a lot of these jobs just aren't worth fighting for.

Fuck off OP. I worked hard to build a skillset that enables me to make a wage I can be proud of. Maybe of you didn't get knocked up in high school, you could have to. Either way, it isn't my concern.

Depends on where you live, dude. I make about $21,000 and I'm just fine.

Granted I live in a one bedroom apartment, but I'm never strapped for cash

If you lose your job to an immigrant with no connections, less education and that can barely speak your language you are worthless.

MUH JOBS
leafys gonna leaf

>A mainstream measure would be to raise the minimum wage to around $10. A few go as high as $12, but only a few. There are almost no mainstream economists who support going up to $15.

Did you post this yesterday? I feel like I've seen you before with the 10/12/15 thing.

>a hour

Say hello to your replacement.

>1 post by this id...

Thank you for correcting the record.

I may have at some point. But it's been a while since I've posted in a thread on the minimum wage. I can tell you it's a common observation.

Why stop at $15 a hour?

Why is this still a discussion? Who still believes in a minimum wage? It's one of the first fucking leftist "economic" theories you learn to debunk.

You probably have heard it before. It's the classic argument against minimum wage. I know Rush Limbaugh uses it a lot because there really is no good answer to it.

Simple, make sure that govt stop spendim money and make sure that they stop with the quantitative Easing.
BTW, you earn not by how much you work, or by how much effort you put in, but by hoe much value you are able to generate.

If your boss tell you to dig a hole, you show up with a spoon and I show up with a tractor. You will work more to do the same shit, but it's not fair for you to earn more just because you are too dumb to drive the tractor.

be thanful he didnt cut you off to pay the rest of his employees.

That's how minimum wage works user

Why do you want to put poor people out of work? You must be an anarchist.

Ever time you raise the minimum wage you increase the justification for robots to replace humans. Every last one of them. Then what will you have?

>the Federal Reserve literally exists
>everyone arguing about minimum wage

Define a living wage.
Even the poorest Americans always seem to be fat as fuck.

You faggots don't want a living wage, you think you are entitled to a middle class lifesteal while doing unskilled work that virtually anybody can do.

But keep going morons, you will just be replaced by machines sooner.

>MINIMUM WAGE SHOULD BE A LIVING WAGE
So considering that different places have different living costs it shouldn't be $15. Why post that image then?

Also,
> 1 post by this ID

lifestyle* ((( auto correct )))

You want to build a life on par with what the boomers were handed, you should be pulling in $150,000/yr or better. That's how fucked we are.

In the mid 50s, you could buy a house for around 10,000. The average mechanic made approx 10,000/yr. Extrapolate those numbers out, apply them to the same housing market now, (Medford, OR), means average mechanics should be making around $400,000/yr to live in the same degree of comfort they had back then.

I realize the housing market is all about big ass bubbles, but that still speaks to how whacked the fuck out things are.

THIS!

Using another measure of earnings that includes tips, 1.3 million Americans earn the minimum wage or less per hour, or 1.1 percent of the total working population.

Now, we need to go DEEPER.

Most workers who earn the minimum wage or less fall into two categories: young workers, usually in school, and older workers who have left school. The majority of minimum wage-earners fall into the first category: 53 percent of those earning $5.15 or less per hour are between the ages of 16 and 24. Minimum wage workers under 25 are typically not their family's sole breadwinner. Rather, they live in middle-class households that do not rely on their earnings. For the most part, they have not finished their schooling and are working part-time jobs. They don't need a fucking raise.

DEEPER

Here are a few important characteristics of the 47 percent of minimum wage-earners who are over the age of 24:

More than half-56 percent-work part-time jobs.
They have an average family income of $33,606 per year.
Just 23 percent live in Poverty, while 45 percent have incomes over twice the Poverty line.
They are better educated than younger minimum wage workers. Just 22 percent have less than a high school education, while 39 percent have only a high school diploma and 21 percent have taken some college classes.
66 percent are women.
43 percent are married.

Conclusion: around 170.000 people in this country who actually works minimum wage job and lives in poverty. Is this the system fault? No, that's absolutely their fault, because these numbers wouldn't be so low if the system was broken.

Not to mention that:
Damage from raising the minimum wage to economy is as bad, as recession.
nber.org/papers/w21830

Raising minimum wage NEVER reduces poverty level(if you didn't know, the only argument they are pushing in favor of raising minimum wage is it would reduce poverty level)

Why does this stupid gif make me laugh every time.

If globalism didn't exist this wouldn't even be an issue.

Get rid of Pedro the gardener and Prabheet the IT tech, and minimum wage is irrelevant because whites will actually have jobs.

>huur if dey raise minimum wage eberting becums more expensivur!

>implying inflation would rise in line with a pay rise (not every worker works for minimum wage)

>implying wages are 100% of the running cost of buisnesses

Bring on automation sex bots and automated fast food can't come soon enough.

Blame uncle sam.. he was the one who raised the fucking supply of money and is about to raise it even further with QE4.

I was born in the wrong age. Just imagine you living in the 40s 50s, hair slicked back, leather jacket.. classy girl by your side

>No one should work 40 hours a week in the most powerful empire man has yet known and not be able to provide a decent life to themselves and their families.
The working poor making just above the poverty line are living a significantly better life than middle class people did 100 years ago.

"Decent" is entirely relative and when used in a political context has zero meaning save "more" or "better" and is quite literally as shallow as that.

Then how about the Mexicans create jobs instead of latching onto our vulnerable, skilless labor force and drive wages down like leeches? OH YEAH they don't have the intelligence nor the morality to manage ANYTHING. So they can fuck right off and sell their kidneys for the heroin they'll be forced to deal to each other to survive.

theres a reason its called 'minimum' wage

its meant for teenagers not grown adults with 3 kids who didn't do anything with their life

How is that negative interest rate working for you keysian cucks?

I don't think you understand what globalism means.. Free trade != globalism

Which is what a lot of minimum wage increase opponents have argued before. You were creating a greater than minimum wage value before (Hence the 10.50), yet now without a corresponding increase, you don't feel as if you're being valued the same way as before by your employer.

Finding a new job is probably your best option.

Wage inflation across the board. Every person making $15 an hour that had to fight for it now is making minimum wage. They still provide $15 in value, but make the same as every pleb who was making $7.25 before. Why should you make minimum wage if you provide more than that to your employer?

Increasing prices to compensate would be what happens to not just you, but every industry. All this would effectively do is set the lowest bar higher for everyone.

> make just under amount you need to stop getting free government health care
> be proud of it

If you live at home yeah this might be passable, but otherwise I wouldn't be too proud about making $10.10 an hour. Not enough to raise a family or have too amazing quality of life there, much less buy property.

A big problem is the now constant downward pressure on labor market value due to the ease of which you can find someone in the current job market. Hence the now common "5 years experience with a masters" for entry level work in some industries (at or just above minimum wage), simply because they can demand greater experience as the current market has someone, somewhere desperate enough to take said work at said pay.

With automation increasing in most industries (The major reason for productivity increases on those wage vs productivity charts people like to link), unemployment will become endemic and the traditional supply and demand system for employment will start to break down. The labor glut becomes the norm, wages remain low, and mobility into a high social group becomes near impossible.

Don't even get me started on H1B's.

The problem is not wages, the problem is rampant inflation caused by detaching the dollar from any material worth and then printing money to stave off recession and the debt bubble burst.

Your proposed solution would actually result in even more inflation due to the relative devaluing of our already weak fiat currency, and a reduction of what jobs we still have since money does not grow on trees and the corporations would refuse to see their profit margins reduced on behalf of their labor.

Instead of targeting corporate opportunism and tax loopholing/evasion, you are attempting to ignore their economic abuses and work around it. This would cripple our economy.

How do you not see this?

All the retards saying it will force robots to take jobs are fucking idiots. Robots are coming regardless. Buisnesses can threaten people with them using minimum wage in the meantime.

>MFW the people who are protesting for this shit are 30+ year olds who were too lazy to get a decent career

t. le meme country who doesn't actually have a minimum wage

Can someone explain to me what the ostensible reason for having a minimum wage in the first place is? Why do people deserve to be paid more than the value of their labor?

Are you searching for CP only user? turn off your VPN or admit that you are a chink

If you're fighting for minimum wage to be $15 dollars, you'll probably lose your job if it ever gets there.

Honestly this is one of the very first things you learn in economics. A rise in the price of goods leads to a decrease in the quantity demanded of said good. Now let's apply that to labor. An increase in the price of labor will result in a decrease in the quantity of labor demanded. AKA YOU'RE FIRED!

Nominal wage changes don't really mean anything.

Go after real wage change, but that can only happen by decreasing the cost of living.

As a business owner, in Australia, there have been two times where I wanted to hire disabled people who were super keen to work but were physically incapable of doing the job they were applying for. They also had no previous job experience.

I did have jobs available in similar roles that they could have done - just slower than an able bodied person with experiecne, so they couldn't produce more value for the business than the minimum wage I would had to have paid - $16 an hour.

If I could have paid them $8-10 an hour, it would have been possible to hire them, get them some experience and then they could have figured out new ways to be more productive so that I could justify paying them more money. But that is illegal.

The minimum wage makes it illegal to hire these people based on their productivity and experience. So instead of getting some money, getting out of the house, and getting experience - they get nothing.

I want to hire them, but I'm not prepared to commit a crime to do so.

Nominal wage changes don't really mean anything. The minimum wage could be $1 per hour if $1 was worth a lot

Go after real wage change, but that can only happen by decreasing the cost of living.

It's when government trat the whole world as their playing field for populist policies regardless of sovereignty.

Now amuse me with your definition of free trade.

Good, I'm glad the customer service jobs are being automated, they suck.

A shitload of people would be fired the day a $15 minimum wage goes into effect.

If you increase the price of a good, consumption of that good will decrease.

This is really easy to understand.

Today? Mainly for votes "he is for the little people"

Originally? It was proposed with eugenics in mind, they knew that most black and poor ppl in general were not capable of producing enough to justify being paid the minum wage.

You are just as bad as OP.

Unchecked immigration causes nearly as much damage to the native labor force by artificially deflating the value of labor as our inflation goes up.

Mass immigration to the US(Hispanics for low wage jobs, Asians and Indians for median wage) is nearly as destructive economically in the long term as corporatism/fiat currency.

This game is proof that you can live on at least 9$ an hour.

Define a living wage because to the liberal cucks I've spoke to a "living wage" means being able to buy the latest iphone and ipad on launch day and buying designer clothes/accessories. Also they waste money on expensive shit like "organic" items and trendy eating places that are expensive but cater to their specialized hipster lifestyles.

Minimum wage should have kept pace with inflation but it didn't, instantly raising it by too much at once, though, will not be good, prices will quickly go up.

It depends.
Free open border policy is bad if you have state run welfare, if you don't then you only get ppl that are actually willing to work like the immigrants in the 19th century.

I'm not for open border policy if you ask me, at least not while ISIS is around, but you gotta realize that MUH JUBS is pretty stupid

Nominal wages =/= real wages.

Can newfags and shills please refrain from using lines like protip you can't and lololol Cred Forums btfo so to convince themselves their silly gif has the slightest impact? Didn't your mother ever teach you anything, like not putting your finger in your nose, wash your hands after wee wee, all that sort of things? Did you receive no education at all?
You are just borderline Asperger overexcited kids, you are not authorised to use lines like that until you have accomplished something significant to back it up.

>free trade
The unlimited import and export of goods and services between two countries, where the importer and exporter also enjoy no tariffs nor any other types of taxes due on said goods and services.

Yes it does become more expensive.

Yes it would cause a rise across the board. The employees that were making $15 an hour, now have to have their pay bumped up too (if you think that's not how it would work, you're kidding yourself)

Wages can be a large portion of the cost of business depending on the industry. Doubling the minimum wage overnight is a retarded idea.

The "muh jobs" argument is perfectly valid.

If the business were not able to fill the low paying jobs (because they couldn't get illegals and immigrants to fill them) they would have to increase the wages to make them competitive in the job market.

Baddabing baddaboom you've got living wages. Funny how that works....

...

Minimum wage should be around $10 to $12, $15 is a little bit excessive

I don't know how so many of you are against raising minimum wage. Inflation is real, ignoring it doesn't make it so. besides that, this is true as well.

It used to be possible to get a job and be able to support yourself. Now, you need a master's degree to flip burgers.

Jesus, I couldn't finish this. This was legit stressful

That shit was only stressful if you live like an idiot. I'm not saying you have to never spend shit on your kid or anything, but I got through easy and even managed to let my kid sign up for sports and take a physical.

>but you gotta realize that MUH JUBS is pretty stupid

Not when the scale of wage stagnation and corporate visa abuse is US tier.

Our high end apartment developments are dominated by Indians and Pakistanis now. This is because corporate America has decided as a whole, due as much to sociopolitical reasoning as economic, to give a lot of our median wage tech/research jobs to H1B shitskins with degrees from Pundeeps Number One Greatest Bombay Tech School.

We are not lacking in people qualified for these positions, it's just that companies would rather pay lower wages and exclude the local workforce.

Open borders is okay with a country like Brazil where your standards are set so low, but it is not okay for Western nations where everyone was able to afford a car and house before wage stagnation and the Brown Surge ruined it all.

What do you mean?

I was responding to the fact that globalism does not equal free trade, as suggested by

which you then called a commie for...even though I am the farthest thing from such a label.

I don't understand why I would relate free trade to populism. Populism is the roots to the progressive era in the US, which is currently destroying the US..

FPBP

Yeah you're not the norm. Me and my GF make about a combined 150k a year and we have to rent an apartment and can only afford 1 car. We live in Cuckifornia and both have degrees too. Meanwhile Pajeet and Roomba drive around in Mercedes and stink up my office with their affirmative action H1b salaries

1 bedroom apartments even just outside Silicon Valley run upwards of 2000 a month if you want to live anywhere decent aka away from the niggers and beaners.

the living wage is around 11$ sheathed, not 15$
where the hell do even come up with the number 15 i don't understand. employers don't owe you shit you fucking work for them. if you don't want fucking minimum wage don't fuck up in school

Fuck $15/hr! I can't live off that!

Minium wage should be 78k per year! Something reasonable at least

you know whats fucked up, I love Bernie and I love how liberal he is..

My whole life I've worked at shitty jobs getting barely any money while I went to school, I clawed my way to the top..

Now that im getting paid almost 100k a year, I start to feel the greed running through me. Why should they get a free card to living wages when I worked so hard for mine.

I feel like this mentality is toxic though, everyone should be able to earn a living wage... I just want to earn a shit ton more

>I love Bernie and I love how liberal he is..
I also love it when my enemies are fucking retards.

That makes me scared to learn coding.

Well like increase the minimum wage again, like duhh, wow i cant even

You're wrong, it should be $20 an hour!

Prove me wrong! Protip: you can't.

Given that you can't prove me wrong, you're wrong again, it should be $25 an hour!

Prove me wrong!

No, it should be $30 an hour!

etc. etc. etc.

Prove me wrong.

If you flip burgers all day you shouldn't expect to make $15. Cunt.

If you aren't a complete NEET $15/hr is very easy to come by. However you will not be working part time and will most likely loose your welfare check. Get up and go learn a trade.

$15 an hour makes sense in places like New York and Chicago, but it makes absolutely no sense in, say, Nebraska.

You can live comfortably in certain states on so little as $8 an hour, where a two-bed-two-bath is only $600 a month. It is pure imagination to pretend $15 is the same $15 all over the United States.

Hyper inflation.

Listening to all these anons made me realize something.

It is time to embrace communism. Not the same ones that have failed in the past(ussr, china, etc.) But something better and will not result in mass killings/dictatorship.

It is the only way. Capitalism is slowly beginning to fail.

>Everybody should be able to earn a living wage
Why? If someone is doing work worth less than 15$ an hour why should they be paid 15$ an hour?

Oy vey, I wonder who could be behind this post!

This. It's already killed jobs where its been trialed. It is accelerating automation. Jobs for the unskilled aren't coming back, New jobs will need more and more adaptability and cognitive ability. Two things so many people lack.

If everyone could make a living by working at mcdonalds, there would be literally no work ethic, everybody would be lazy and just scraping by. You need to give people a reason to work, that's what capitalism is, "living wage" is socialism.

What you should be fighting for is tax penalties for businesses that take thrive on underemployed workers. None of this wage stuff means shit if people aren't getting a decent amount of hours.

>"I'm a teen living under my parents roof, I need a job for weed, beer and movie money. I should be given the same amount for my unskilled work that an adult out on their own needs to live and support a family."

Hey son, do you understand how fiat currency and inflation work?

I did it with a job that payed 3.25/hour +tip! and managed just fine.

only gibsmedats really need $15/hour minimum to live.

If you don't like your pay, earn a promotion.
If they aren't promoting anybody, find a new job.

That about sums it up.

My question is, if we have gone past a point of no return in terms of automation and class mobility, what eventually happens to the underclass?

I don't expect the proles to just lay down and slowly become a subterranean race of impoverished freaks. I expect socialism to gain a whole shitload of traction, and hopefully not fuck everything up in the process. I probably will be alive long enough to see some crazy changes come about in the world.

Just a black user who puts his jeans on one leg at a time my dude. No one special.

$15 is great if there are any jobs available. Hobos all came up here when the laws passed and they are still living in tents under the freeway. Remember Seattle? The city that coined the term 'skid road' when everyone heard about the Klondike gold rush and came looking for nonexistent jobs.

Have you honestly heard of communism at all?

That is the face of loserdom. Big lipped nigger monkey piece of faggot ass dick sucking shit

I make $125k and live on $25k

So how do all the low wage Indians and Pakistanis manage to scoop up all the high end apartments? Because they work, that's why.

Stupid stoners waiting for UBI and expecting an apartment in a high rise view condo.

Ah gotcha. Nope, when you see an exclamation point before an equal sign it means does not equal.

You've never been to most of the poor parts of the USA

It is a living wage, if you're a part of a family.

The point of the wage drop is that both men and women work now.

You're not against feminism now, are you user?

>Everyone should earn what I consider to be a living wage, which is totally not subjective!!!

Did you know that people in africa live by literally eating dirt, and drinking shitty water, all for the low price of a single dollar per month? Golly, im sure some of them even enjoy it, too.

Therefore, we should all be able to 'live' off the 'wages' of a single dollar a month. Anyone who earns more will be scorned and taxed in the favor of the rest, and anyone who earns less will still be eating their healthy portion of dirt. After all, it is the livable wage of Africans. If they can do it, so can you!

Do you know that you're proposing communist ideals? Do you know what happens when all that extra wealth consolidates? Who will force society to accept this minimum wage?

After all, you cannot enforce this socialism without first having a group or party at the head who will enforce it.

And thus is history, as suddenly the people find that the people at the top once again have 99% of the money.

Communism will fall apart without someone being there to enforce it, as there will always be someone who won't want to give half of their earnings away if they happen to strike it rich.

>being a socialist paradise without a universal minimum wage

wtf DELETE THIS

>"Of course not don't be ridiculous, if you're going to be like that you can just piss off I'm not even going to interact...."

I think it would be great, because it would get rid of all the niggers. I mean, if you have to pay out your ass to hire a no skill employee, you're going for the white guy and not the nigger.

I want to be able to buy an aventador after 6 months at McDonalds

Why not fight to give a raise to the guy who makes 30 cents an hour in China or Mexico who makes it possible for you to bitch about having the highest wages in the entire world.

In America you are forced to hire niggers.

...

>raise the minimum wage as high as you want
>the unemployed still make $0 an hour

Why is this difficult for "muh living wage" fags to understand? Why fight for just $15 an hour? Why don't you fight for $20/hr or $100/hr?
Living wage advocates = economic illiterates. Economists don't push for such garbage- living wage is only pushed bu dumbass union bosses that use wannabe trotsky limp dick faggots as puppets

That will change when everyone goes bankrupt.

Sage the CTR shills

This over and over. Any lifestyle you live in the U.S. is infinitely better than the children that sew your shitty Nikes together in Bangladesh. We are the greediest, softest, most privileged people in the entire world. I'm sorry that the worst job in society can't pay for you to have your own house, your own car, and enough money to buy everything you want. Life just doesn't fucking work that way.

I agree, no reason some should have more money than they can spend in five lifetimes while others work in physically or mentally more demanding jobs but barely have enough to get by and are forced into deeper debt they won't be able to climb out of and whose wages are subsidized by the taxpayers in the former of food stamps etc to maximize corporate profits. If you disagree just kill yourself, your just a cuck for the usurous jew establishment and don't want to admit you're getting fucked.

So lets say you know that you personally produce 25 productivity units for your work-bloc.

You go home to your state-supplied apartment and eat your state-supplied ration.

You talk to your neighbour.
"Oh, I love work, I'm so productive, I produced 8 units today! My record!!!"

What do you do at work the next day, knowing that your neighbour gets the same outcome as you despite you working more? Do you work the same? Hmm?

Communism can never work on humans for a number of reasons illustrated here.

Humans have different abilities and talents.
Humans are aware of how they might differ from others.
Humans are incentivised by rewards.

If you level the reward playing field ala communism, guess what happens? Your productivity falls to the level of the lowest productive member.

The only way it works is if you kill all those who aren't productive enough to stop the average person dropping their productivity in "protest".

you shouldn't be working minimum wage as an adult. you should be in a real job. min-wage jobs are for teenagers. have some more aspirations than retail, fag

Prove your position right on any account other than gibsmedat nonsense.

Protip: you can't, and never have been able to, you fucking lazy leeching faggot.

This.
I've actually done the math, if I didn't have school loans, I could just manage a paycheck to paycheck existence for one person.
Burger king starts at 9.75, you'd need 2 similar jobs to make 40 hrs, but anyone could do that. Minus taxes, you'd pull in about 300/w, 1200/m.
I currently spend 500/m for a 2 bedroom apt that only I live in (roommate could lower the price but FUCK that), and insurance/elect/internet/phone/etc runs me about 400/m (and Im fairly sure I'm overpaying for all that shit anyway). If I was only making 1200/m, that would leave 300/m for food/gas, which is more than enough for one person if you know how to cook.

So yes, at least in the little corner of Bumfucknowhere, NY I live in its possible, though its not exactly the most glamorous of existances. You just have to not have kids, vices or a liberal arts degree to pay off.

I think $9 should be the national minimum wage and states can choose how high they wanna go. $7.25 is way to low

Fucking /thread

A wage exists does not mean it has to be a living wage.
Anyone on Min Wage permanently has already failed at life.

What you consider enough to live off of may not be enough for another person.

You might as well be the fat fuck with the EBT card who buys nothing but chips ahoy all day, only to bitch about how you have no money to buy anything.

>Prove me wrong.
Shit, some people aren't worth $15 an hour. Some aren't worth $5.......and you know it.

fuk off

Price ceilings create shortages, price floors create surpluses.
A labor surplus is also known as unemployment.
It real simple shit.

there are jobs out there that aren't worth $15

Why should an employer pay a 16 year old burger flipper enough money to own a house?

I can only offer speculation. We'll see a lot of people who have entire sectors of jobs replaced with automated equipment. Ex, the first chance someone gets to make an automated McDonald's, we'll see them replace nearly all of them ASAP.

The cost of production then becomes just that of supplies, minus what you paid to purchase the equipment. In theory costs would actually go down, but today's capitalism says "highest price while keeping 80% of sales", so any price decrease would be minimal.

We're going to have a lot of people who have no ability to make money, and are too old to be re-trained to perform other work (Plus, no money to pay to do so). War and fighting is inevitable.

I'm not sure what a partial post-scarcity economy will look like, since many goods (like property, art, historical artifacts, etc.) are necessarily finite, even when other goods like food or clothing could be made in such quantity that their cost is effectively zero. Socialism doesn't allocate finite goods efficiently, and capitalism says you should be paying for things which should be effectively free.

One option might me allocating everyone a set amount of credits monthly to do with as they please, rare things necessarily costing more, and people could save up to buy more expensive things like cars, homes, etc. You could earn extra credits on top of the basic income system by doing work that benefits society in some way (Helped fix the highway? X extra credits). Kind of a modified basic income + job pay. How you would make this fair and ensure people with experience and or extra training are compensated fairly (do you just pay them more?), while preventing abuses on the system (No having 6 kids just to get their monthly credit allotment) are a bit beyond me.

Artificially raising wages doesn't make basic economics and human reasoning go away pinko.

If the market was freed up more, prices and wages would both be closer to nominal values so the minium wage would also be approximately a living wage

Ever worked with an adult making minimum wage? There's a reason they're not making more.

wage should be determined with productivity and business owners don't make that yuge of a profit

You should opt less to raise the minimum wage and instead opt to reduce the cost of living and improve its standard.

Why should minimum wage be increased? wage should come from the difficulty of the job and the skill it takes to complete the job.

you can actually live on $9 a hour perfectly fine. i lived on that for 10 years and worked my way to a better job over time. I have a job that pays 15 a hour and its amazing. i get driving expenses, expenses on company tools, resources etc.

Anyone who says minimum wage needs to be raised is a nigger who needs more "bling".

What is a living wage? What defines that?

So true. And so sad.

This

I'm going into a job training program at my college. I have to pay $1,000 for a job that will pay me about $15-$20. Why should others get paid the same as me when they didn't pay for a job? I'm for a minimum wage raise but only at the state or local level. It will always fail on a national level.

I didn't go to engineering school wanting to fucking kill myself over 15+ hour hmwk sessions and endless all-nighters so that burger flippers can close the gap between our paychecks. You get paid relative to what you actually contribute, don't like it? Maybe you should've tried harder in school.

This is bullshit. You two are obviously overspending on shit somewhere.
>complaining about $2k rent split between two people
Bitch, I have coworkers making

Be grateful for what you got you spoiled fuck.

bro I used to believe this, but in the end, prices will adjust and your shit boss will still just keep paying themselves more than they deserve, you need to look for a better job

I'm pretty much a communist but the work you're doing = the pay you get. It sucks some people have to live in Poverty, but I'd rather have 5% of the population living in Poverty, than 25% u kno?

I feel like we'll eventually just eradicate the poor, that's the only solution. Unskilled labor will be replaced with robots. The poor shouldn't be allowed to breed.

OP here. thanks for the replies. really made me think..

wage is not game score.
also, money is not something god gifts.
FRB can make money as they want maintain the functional economy.
money is just a matchmaking tool between services/items and workers.
even the lowest class workers should get living wage because you can't call the economy where people will starve to death if they won't rely on social welfere after matchmaking is properly executed, functional.
we are the first world after all. its not like we don't have enough productivity.

>american
>starving to death

i have never seen someone starving in america, from the ghetto to the low class trailers i do not see people starving. i see people making horrible decisions with their life and using money on shit they do not need.

i never had a large tv or a computer remotely capabale of running any games till pretty recently. i had food, shelter and a car. i didnt go eat out, didnt go to the bar with my friends unless they paid for me.

The worst shit ive seen are people who have 3 kids and cant avoid a weeks worth of food because they are buying dvds and booze. Fuck anyone who wants to raise minimum wage, make better life decisions.

you sound like someone who has never understood money. Yes it is just paper but you cannot just print unlimited amounts of it.

The average salary in Norway floats around 60$ USD. A dozen eggs costs 8$.

Liberals make me lol. I get paid $8 an hour working 25 hours a week. I pay all my own bills perfectly fine and have $1500 in savings right now. Minimum wage actually is a living wage you just have to stop being a materialistic little fag. If you don't need it, you don't buy it. Raising the wage to $15 would only serve lazy retards and destroy the economy.

>tfw i'm a millionaire and i just laugh at people who say this while i'm counting my shekels

Making shit up: The post.

That or you have no bills.

$15 is arbitrary. Why not $20, or $50, or $100?

Seattle has already seen a drop in low-skilled employment due to their rate hikes. Because when minimum wage is hiked so significantly, employers choose to hire more skilled employees. And if low-skilled employees begin making $15, then the more skilled employees who were already making $15 will demand more. This applies all the way up the corporate food chain.

Nobody will be paid for more than they bring in. A $15/hr wage necessitates that the employee generates $15/hr income. And since the nature of every business enterprise is to be profitable, they really need to be generating more than $15/hr income to offset the operating expenses, of which they're a part.

A $15/hr minimum wage is at best a way to guarantee low-skilled workers are less likely to be hired, and at worse a way to put businesses out of business so they don't employee anybody.

money is blood.
blood is matchmaker between cells and energy.
only thing you have to deserve when yoy print money is inflation, however the problem of the world after financial crisis is lack of inflation rate.

Congo should just raise their min wage to 30$/hour. Then the median income would be 60,000 which is greater than 56,000$ so they would be richer the the US in two weeks after their next paycheck.

Minimum wage increases fuck walmart but empower small businesses. This is econ 101. Get your shit together Cred Forums.

>Pay into the system what it's owed
So nothing?

>This is econ 101.
Stop getting your economics from a chair fetishist.

I literally lived in a tree for a few months.

Businesses need customers in order to function.
A higher minimum wage gives more disposable income to consumers which allows businesses to sell more product.
More product sold enables more product manufacture, which reduces costs.
Reduced costs leads to higher competition and product quality and sales.
As soon as people start being able to purchase things without spending more than half of their income that is not adjusted for inflation on rent and utilities (which do not mobilize the economy), shit starts to function better.

This has been demonstrated repeatedly in not only American history, but world history.

inb4 FAG U DONT KNOW HOW ECONOMICS WORK
Please tell me more about how great trickle-down economics worked in the past 24 years.

inb4 SMALL BUSINES MEME

inb4 MUH RENT
Literally unrelated to minimum wage. The only people whose rent would go up are the people living in income adjusted housing, which is a staggering minority of those living in America.

Stupid fucking neolibs ITT.

This is Keynesianism 101.
Which is shit.

>this is econ 101
No, what you're displaying is libcuck econ 101
That portrayal of ""reality"" is a delusion.

Min wage does not fuck with walmart, they have billions and operate in many countries.
Raising the min wage just makes it harder for small businesses. Seattle 15 min forced wage caused restaurants to close BEFORE the increase even happened. Maybe read the article and get a sense of how to operate a business. You don't know shit.

shiftwa.org/more-seattle-restaurants-close-doors-as-15-minimum-wage-approaches/

Also, Walmart can afford to pay minimum wages and stuff, they just don't do that. Take a look at Brazil for example, the big business can handle better minimum wages. It is really really hard to open and maintain a small business in Brazil, it takes a massive amount of money.

>restaurants
>paying minimum wage

Kek as fuck, these assholes are making a statement against big government. Restaurant workers are not paid the state level minimum wage is they receive tips. Do some research on the owners who "had" to close, you turbo mong liberal.

America, If you threw all your niggers into the sea this would easily be possible.

But niggers and women are the ones who want more money than their labor is worth...

Alex, "What is a price floor?"

>inb4 FAG U DONT KNOW HOW ECONOMICS WORK
I mean you think 15 h/r should be a standard so yeah pretty much you dont know how things work.

No, they keep min wage down by just being alive in your country.

They are the reason there IS a minimum wage...
If there were no non-whites and women couldn't vote, every year would be 1984.

You almost got it kid.

After the restaurants all close then the remaining ones will become packed as people still want to eat out. Then new restaurants will open to satisfy demand, the menu prices may go up but the workers will be making $15 now.

Sure they are.
>turbo mong liberal
Not even bothering to read my comment then label me a liberal, nice try nigger. I highly doubt you've done any research on the owners. You must go around calling everyone that disagrees with you a liberal, even though I've supported Trump almost since the start. You need a better argument strategy.

That doesn't even make sense.

minimum wage is white genocide

think it through

you'll see i'm right

It honestly should be. What a lot of people seem to forget is that many minimum wage earners qualify for government assistance. They are getting food stamps, free health care, housing vouchers, etc.

So the taxpayer is the one stuck covering their low pay while the businesses are getting tax credits and kickbacks for underpaying their employees. It's ridiculous that Walmart can hire someone at such a low wage and then get paid by the government for doing so. Make the employer pay their employees wages, not the taxpayer.

google.com/search?q=reagan 1984

What's Cred Forums's proposal for when robotics/AI are advanced enough to eat up almost every minimum wage and low-mid tier unskilled or even skilled production jobs/trades?

It is a living wage.

but I agree we need to fight for 15.

cant wait to see 90% of democrats lose their job to illegals LMAO

Want $15 an hour? Get a better job, cunt.

>underpaying their employees
If your employer isn't paying you the promised wage, the solution isn't totalitarianism/statism...
Kill yourself you cuck.

Let's make it 1 million dollars and then everyone can be rich xD

The problem young grasshopper is that the deflated wages make it impossible to have the proper family structure within the household. This makes latchkey kids and a good chunk of the melinials.

To make America great again the man needs to be able to earn enough money to carry the household so the woman can raise the children. watch Leave it to Beaver for a better reference.

We need a high minimum wage to beat the Jew cucks back and restore the American household to what it was before the globalists took over.

There will always be jobs. People create demands in order to make money. That's where central planners fail, they can't see that the society is ever changing. Yoi never thought that you would need an iPhone; if all people still needed to work on farms and tractors didn't exist you would never have it

Minimum wage isn't supposed to be living wage for a fucking family. The higher minimum wage is, the more selective employers are and the more jobs they'll cut to lower spending, especially with small business.

Don't go fucking idiots and having three kids at 18 and you won't get hit with the minimum wage problem. Get skills, get a better job and then get a family. $15/hr is fucking ridiculous. Why should some asshole at Subway get paid the same as someone working as a receptionist, or an engineer?

brazil needs more people like you

>fighting for a nominal wage
>not fighting for a real wage
Are you an economical illiterate?

If they give you 15 $, they just raise the prices of goods and services. Now the inflation has destroyed your 15 $ meme and you are as poor as before.

>most of the niggers in the "boohoo look at how poor I am #fightforfifteen" videos are mostly complaining that they can't get enough hours at McDs
>their solution is to raise the minimum wage, instead of lower it

Subway is a metric fuckton more complicated than answering the goddamned phones and if you ever meet an engineer making $15hr he's not a real engineer.

The problem isn't the $15 minimum it's the receptionist should be making $20

based deutsche man

Get rid of spics taking jobs and then niggers and low life's will have decent paying jobs.

Shut the fuck up and make me my sandwich, wage cuck. Extra cheese, and no I don't want a fucking cookie.

>if you ever meet an engineer making $15hr he's not a real engineer.

I did a few 'wrong' things, just first time knee-jerk reactions. I made it with about 300 dollars.

I really am living cheque to cheque, but holy shit. Why do I have a car I can't afford? Why do I have a kid? Why do I have a cellphone? Why would I want to go see my kids stupid fucking play? This obviously biased, but it still doesn't work.

Sure I'm stressed and life isn't rosy, but it's fucking minimum wage and I do have money in the bank.

Your labour is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.

Boom.

Now pls go and pls stay go.

My father worked as an unarmed security guard for General Motors in the late 70's. Now he did work 3rd shift, every holiday and all the overtime the threw at him which was pretty good. He made about $43k that year.

Our house was a very nice 4 bedroom 2 story with full finished basement and fireplaces throughout. It was a newer home in a lower upper class neighborhood with some professors, doctors and lawyers but not too nice. The house cost $27k. You could also pick up a Corvette for around $7500.

Now the GM security guards (outsourced to Pinkerton) make around $10hr, median home price around $200k and a Corvette will run you over $60k.

Call me a wage Cuck all you want little bitch boy but we're all getting fucked not just the Negros and the burger flippers

/thread

Why should flipping burgers, something that has a relatively constant value and has for a long time, be worth the same as the un-constant value of technology and extra thigns that people purchase for their homes?

People have been sucked hard into the high-tech meme. It's almost funny.

They accept more and more expensive good as essentially, such as high tech phones, refrigeration, heating, computers, sound systems, pricey televisions, and enumerable other smaller things, and somehow expect the same burger flipping job to pay for all of that.

Learn to live within your means.

They shouldn't be supporting families on jobs like that. Breed when you know you can afford it, simple as that.

If everyone had a million dollars you'd still be broke because prices would be sky high

Stop being stupid shillary

I'm not making $10 hr you silly little boy. The security guards are because our government no longer supports the people only ever increasing corporate profits.

No, prices are always determined by supply and demand.

>government no longer supports the people

Government feeds more than half of the nog population so they can go buy a 9 dollar basket of chicken and some ready-made mac and cheese.

Nobody is fucking over the negros, they do that to themselves.

I make more than enough money at 11 an hour. I don't think the upper class needs to be more competitive I think the lower class needs to not be niggers. That being said I don't understand anything about economics a minimum wage of 15$ seems like the most ridiculous idea ever how would this affect the economy?

Minimum wage is for highachool and college kids. Get a real job and then youll be paid 15 an hour

>minimum wage raised to $15
>prices on all goods raised to accomodate this change
>right back to where we started, only now even more people are broke

My apologies, I was referring to the government that passed the trade agreements that allowed all the good paying American jobs to go overseas.

It wouldnt be so bad if it was just a minority of fuck ups but in america a lot of people fucked up/be niggers

you are free so set the min wage at whatever rate you choose to pay.

isn't it amazing that the liberals never actually do that?

>higher minimum wage gives more disposable income to consumers

Not neccsarily. When you account for elimination of jobs because of the immediate increase of minimum wage coupled with the increase in prices because the cost to produce goods would increase because of a dramatic government induced increase of cost (also known as CPI) that increase in income is negated to a trivial or marginal benefit. If there is any to start with. Not to mention a higher tax rate will most likely be in effect for those working for that new wage.

>More products sold means enabled more products manufactured.

While I am not against the statement it lacks overall reasoning. More products being manufactured is inherently reliant on the efficiency of the worker, available investment and demanded investment. Not to mention capital to labour ratios. Which with an increase wage forced by the government doesn't change.

>which reduces cost

See the above. Focus on worker efficiency and capital to labour ratios and this falls apart. Not to mention diminishing returns. At some the cutting of costs, which you infer to infinite in that statement, eventually actually could lead to an almost net 0 effect on profits. We see this with companies like Yahoo who underwent massive cost cutting but failed to produce adequate increase in revenues year over year.

>as soon as people start being able to purchase things without spending more than half of their income that is not adjusted for inflation on rent and utilities she starts to function better

It is commonly realised and accepted in economics that prices and wages do not precede inflation. There is rhe stickt wage theory and sticky price theory to explain this. Your idea that paying for utilities do not "mobilise" the economy is retarded. Utility companies do hire people and those people are paid. With an increase in wage comes an overall increase in price which is coupled with people "feeling" richer. but in reality they are not.

>small businesses under 50 people would be exempt

So now you want to punish small business for expanding and growing? And with expansion usually comes standardisation which reduces cost and ultimately helps consumer wiith lower costs incurred by the business whixh translates to lower prices. You must be joking about the exemption rule. All it does is discourage employment and expansion by small businesses.
