It's gory. Honestly, capital punishement should just be a barbituate/opioid overdose. The three drugs used in lethal injection today (sodium pentathal to knock you out, pancouronium bromide to stop lung function, and a super dose of potassium chloride to stop your heart) isn't necessary, especially when you consider that the first drug is very short lasting and the person being executed could wake up before the other drugs killing him. Just give 10x the dose of the first drug and be done with it.

Hospice here runs on a timer three months and then the medicare wants to know why you are not dead. Very sad actually since hospice was created to care for the dying, and not to starve/dehydrate them to death or overdoes them.

The guillotine was designed for the sole purpose of causing instant death with little room for human error, in a time when methods of execution were still largely influenced by social status and emotional satisfaction (cruel deaths to satisfy revenge). It was built to be humane.

Only if you use the wrong drugs, as the US system does. If you use sodium pentobarbitone, death is instant and peaceful.
