Are text based web browsers the ultimate redpill?

Are text based web browsers repilled, Cred Forums?
Have you done your part in avoiding the multi-media Jew?

PRAISE KEK!

Look into Temple OS, those who dont know about it.

Thank me later

>using you CLI browser from a GUI

Filthy plebeian

It would just be full of ASCII spam

>How are you supposed to see funny pictures though?
Just use your imagination.
[insert smug Pepe image]

That's some pretty hardcore autism right there.

I used to browse with Lynx over my univthose ersity shell acct. Man, do I miss those days.

I have an app that turns my monitor to greyscale or inverted-greyscale, etc when I want to, I switch it on when I go on Cred Forums to keep porn from triggering me.

ur a fcking luddite

[img] nazi frog pisses into 2 liter bottle [/img]

Used to browse with Lynx over ssh back at school in the 2000's, man those were fun times.

>Are text based web browsers repilled, Cred Forums?
Nope.

Problem with lynx is that it still looks like 4chins even though it's in a terminal.

This is just sad OP.

True, but text-only over secure shell? C'mon muh nigga, shit's dope looking like fruit stripe gum

What .onion sites do you frequent?

Also cut teeth on 80's Wang mainframe, entire thing was replaced with an 8086 unix box circa 1990. 9600 baud, whipbang whipbannnnng

>9600 in 1990
wtf man secret military technology?

That was back when mom would pick up the phone and start dialing and splatter garbage across the screen until you yelled at her to hang up so you could restart the download.

Because they're terrible, and you use Windows anyway.

I:

>Use Linux and almost entirely free open-source software
>Browse through Tor by default for every website, only keep small whitelist
>Disable all javascript, cookies, and third-party requests by default

Some of them have support for images.

May've misremembered the baud rate at that time. Orange monochrome, whoa the wayback machine is in high gear!

>Orange monochrome
aw yeh

Only the select know this feel.

cute, CUTE!

If someone could build a cli browser that was all text yet rendered the img tag, the could be the next mark fuckerjew

Just looks like drudge. I can get with that.

how about it just converts the images into ascii images?

i don't want anything but text on my screen

but pictures made of text are fine

>not reading your images in hexadecimal

the shrek one

There's actually a think for *nix that does this. I forget what it's called, but it's pretty wild to watch in action. I've been meaning to go back and find it for years. You can run X on top of it and everything.

rare

Tor is incredibly slow. And most likely botnet

thanks i am all over that

ill find it

They would be, but you're still running a Jewish closed-source OS. Consider linux.

Ungoogled Chromium and Iridium are the only redpilled browsers.
Although people say Nightly and Waterfox are good too.

I kind of doubt it's been maintained long enough to be viable nowadays, but you never know how far the autism goes. I'd totally use it.

Wouldn't it be glorious if you could run something like that inside of like a screen session?

aalib and libcaca (lol)

mpv can even play videos with libcaca rendering like pic related

>aalib
YES

oh shit son I've never seen it in that many colors :D

The package libcaca , specifically w3m-img and cacaview, combined with a web browser screen buffer is what you're looking for.

You can see it in use if you use the 'ranger' file manager to get an idea how it would render.

Pale moon is the best Firefox version

Explain

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

wow that's cool

Monitoring this post and all responses to it

There's not that much to explain. In overcoming my porn addiction, I've realised that one of the major 'triggers' that will flood my brain with anticipatory dopamine is simply seeing or thinking about the colours you'll see in most porn videos, just go look at the videos at private.dot.com and tell me there isn't something unique about the colours. Turning the screen to greyscale when I'm on Cred Forums helps make me less reactive to seeing porn when its posted.

The program I use is called 'Negativescreen' - arcanesanctum.dot.net.slash.negativescreen

More like danktism.

the same thing happens to me

i like Cred Forums and i like funny images, but sometimes i have more important things to do than masturbate for seven hours and Cred Forums makes it really hard

it's much easier to control yourself without constant temptation

i like to tinker with very small OS setups and that browser sounds perfect for my purposes

Sorry I should have been clearer, it's not a browser, it's just a program you run on Windows but it affects everything including your browser.

If you're after a good browser system - I use firefox with the leechblock addon, this allows you to set up either an exclusive ban list (ban yourself from sites you want to stop yourself from going to), or an inclusive list (allow yourself to visit certain sites). You can also alter schedules, etc so you can allow yourself to visit Cred Forums during certain hours of certain days, but outside of those times you won't be able to visit it - helps to save a lot of time.

Do people really just sit around spanking it? If something make my dick twich, I just squeeze one out in about a minute and get on with life.

What's that, like 10 minutes total on a bad day?

I've sometimes spend literally an entire day (I'm talking 6am to 2am as an example from a few weeks back) edging.

Most of the time if I end up viewing porn I edge for hours at least.

>edge for hours
lol ironically I don't have that kind of self control

Thats honestly pretty impressive

>not viewing images through scripts

...

>text-based
>in a graphical user interface
I used text-based browsers in the 90s, obviously without a GUI.

It doesn't have networking and wouldn't be safe if it did. If I had more energy and willingness, I'd play around with it and program something. It's like a turbo Commodore 64 system. Pretty impressive.

hey can any user please explain how to do this?

preferably if its available thru some well known package manager

i'm sort of a noob, but i do know how to brew, apt-get, npm install, etc

mac // bash please

It's very impressive. I was reviewing his schizophrenic rants the other day, and he basically took all my dreams about how to do protected mode right and cranked them into high gear.

And he's setting himself for vascular problems/erectile dysfunction in later life.

i did that for like a year and a half

i think it gave me prostate issues

im better now, but switching between fapping and pissing for hours messed up my plumbing somehow

i suggest that you buy an artificial vagina and just go for 30mins to an hour tops.

i think that using your hand too much is damaging your body- the 'death grip'

it feels better than a woman and you can actually get stuff done

google Cindy's Artificial Vagina- im so serious

I actually used lynx at work to read Cred Forums, it's neat, didn't need to hide it because I did devop so I usually had several terminals open on my desktop, so people didn't pay any attention to it.

kek'd

It's somehow more exciting with lynx. I used to do that with /fit/ all the time. I guess because you have to use your imagination more.

Then you get home and it's the same old boring garbage.

Do you post or just lurk? I've browsed Cred Forums through Lynx but I didn't know how to configure it to post.

Redpilled browers are ones that give the user both freedom and privacy. Firefox, with the help of addons (uBlock, Disconnect, HTTPS everywhere, greasemonkey, etc) , and the use of alternative search engines is the redpilled way to surf.

I actually don't remember if I ever posted from work. I most of the time just lurk even on regular browsers. Was three years ago, when I was working there, haven't been lurking from terminal since.

>the most redpilled way to surf is by using the 2nd most popular browser on the planet

Spent years using primarily text browsers b/c on work network, sciencedaily is better that way. Distills the net to raw info.

Also text won't register on fuckoff radar compared to others.

But now I work from home so I am here since I am using my own net and din't care abor sfw

Whrn Lumberg glances over your shoulder, it looks like you are coding
