Depends how you define "progressive" and "progressivism".

I consider myself a progressive because I follow the historical and defined description of it. The progressivism that is historical/defined is about opposing the supernatural and superstitious elements of human society and nature to focus on facts and empirical evidence-based decision making. The so called "progressives" that you are talking about are actually known among more educated groups as the "Regressive Left", that ignores science, that ignores facts and chooses to focus itself on it's feelings. They are not progressives.
