Honestly I think there are a number of programs that should be run by the state to provide simply a standard base level of resources and services to individuals in need, e.g. Health Care and Housing.

The rest is obviously down to the individual, the system cares not about equality of outcome, only equality of opportunity.

Equality of opportunity is effectively already a thing in Australia though, and I think the system should stay more or less the way it is.

Yeah this, you're fucked man, this was the first thing I tried when I couldn't get in anywhere, smashed the aptitude test but psych failed me because I hadn't had work experience aka being a NEET.

Pretty sure if the military would stop being stuck up cunts about accepting otherwise normal NEETS in (providing they pass the other psych tests) we wouldn't have as much a problem with youth unemployment.

Also I'd like to point out that there's been a serious increase in the amount of people getting university degrees, high school education no longer gets you a decent job, you have to go for university education or a trade at a minimum.

The more people that get university degrees, the more they are devalued, in some fields, people are expected to study for 5-6 years to be competitive in today's economy.

I was talking to an old psych who did the psych analysis during 'nam, and he said one of the first things he was told was what i said "the duty of the army is not to make men out of boys". You can't blame them, it's definitely risky, even if we could hack it. He also said that the army application is more about rejecting people than accepting, and since you went you'd know there's more demand than supply, even though good interviewees will get in anytime.

I worked at McDonalds awhile back. 3 months I went from casual to full time, another 3 months and I started training for shift supervisor. I then got poached by a bank. Then I left that to work on a farm, started at the bottom there and assisted in the management of the property.

And now I'm doing an apprenticeship. Jobs are easy to find.

You wouldn't have to deal with a language barrier, you wouldn't have to deal with international laws, and you wouldn't have to deal with shipping your products back home. The reason people outsource is because the government through regulation and taxation has made it unprofitable to run business in the home country. The same thing happens in the US with businesses moving to Mexico to avoid our ridiculous tax code.

I live pretty far out in the bush, theres no jobs here, not even farms. If your parents make above 90k, you wont be able to get on any welfare. Which under normal circumstances is fine, but if your parents are able but aren't willing to support your endeavor to move to where theres jobs, or to go to uni then you're absolutely fucked. You can try to get emancipation in paper work, but it'll always be at the social workers discretion to "trust" it or not, and believe me, they'll have no mercy for a black haired blue eyed FUCKING WHITE MALE.

Here we only include people who have been unemployed for less than 6 months. If you go unemployed longer than that, you're just not included.
In reality its probably 15% at least, and a massive portion of that being 18-22 year olds.

Every single person from my senior year is either in uni or tafe now, to my knowledge not a single person has found full time work aside from one lad who got into the army, but his dad is an officer so I wouldn't hold that to much credit.
Even those who didn't have any aspiration for uni ended up in tafe after 6 months not being able to find work. There just aren't new jobs being made, and with so many people attending universities, positions that are considered entry level are now requiring a bachelors qualification
