The teacher is supposed to be providing a service - teaching the class - and the students paid for it.

I'm glad that most classes I've taken in my university have been taught by professors who understand that disagreement is the catalyst for thoughtful discussion. They've said things that were provocative, yes, but for the purpose of stimulating discussion and not insults to get good Rate My Professor reviews. They certainly did not throw a temper tantrum at being challenged.

You do realize the teacher was making a comment on economic policy and with regards to generally accepted rules within the economic community, one can make statements like that. It doesn't mean you can't disagree, it just means it's the lecturers opinion. The kid started video taping after the fact.

It really is wiser to hide your power level. What I do when the teacher is clearly attempting to "correct the record" in class is to pretend that I'm severely ignorant of the subject and ask a seemingly innocent question (because silly little me just don't know no better! :^) ) that completely undermines their entire argument and publicly humiliate them in the process. As long as I pretend to be retarded, they have no way to defend themselves apart from actual reasoned arguments which, of course, they don't have. If they do fight back, they come across as assholes to the entire class for attacking a retard. Either way, I win.
