Norwaybro are tourists allowed to visit these?

This is Olavinlinna from the 15th century in Finland

At least here they're open to visitors

I've visited some myself

Don't trigger the fucking Southern Euros again, idiot
The last thing I want are some smug Greeks and Latins talking about being 'cultured' while starving

It was built like 170 years later. This Norwegian fortress looked somewhat like that before the Swedes partially destroyed it in the 18th century.

>Not even made of plastic

It's like you're not even trying

>tfw you will never be a Viking in 1308 and live in this castle

How usefull will that be during the second arab spring?

If i were in finland, i'd buy or build one of those.

>1308
>vikings

Ayy

We got fortified booty.

Need mo stones for dem roads

I don't know. I've been getting historical feels whenever I see castles threads.
I want to live in 1016 not 2016.

We built this in 3500 BC, it may look like a pile of rocks but its actually really big inside.

Its a bunch of tunnels and tombs.

post more comfy castles

>How usefull will that be during the second arab spring?

It's a fortress surrounded by water. No one is getting over that wall

shit now i got a boner, love/hate this fetish

Sure, they're all pretty much free for the public, especially ruined ones. You can't really break stone you know.

Pic related is smack in the middle of my hometown, built in the 1600s and blown up by russians, I've often spent evening drinking beer there. The only graffitis are done in the railings and bridges around the castle, not on the castle itself.

It really is a disgrace to think that our newly arrived "refugees" have no respect for the castles, I know that in a few years it will be smeared all over with some kind of spraypaint.

>1308
>How can your shitty country even compete?

You can't be serious, I could spam your thread all night long.

I just love tits...

>built in 1308
>Vaubanesque bastions out of the ass
Yeah nah. Maybe there was a castle there in 1308 but it was either replaced or completely overhaulted in the 16th or 17th century.

...

...

wasn't that build by the ancient finns?

No.... this is the real deal. It was actually almost demolished by the swedes in the 18th century. The parts remaining shown in the video is from 1308

...

Bullshit.

And a quick google search confirms as such:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bohus_Fortress#Fortress
>During the Northern Seven Years' War, in 1563–1570, it was seriously damaged.
>The Norwegians rebuilt the fortress of stone and brick, and reinforced it substantially. The reconstruction immediately after the war was directed by Hans Paaske (Påske) from the Netherlands.
>In 1593–1604, similar to the construction then undertaken at Akershus in Oslo, Bohus was upgraded to a bastion fortress. A new outer fortification was raised.

That is the comfiest thing I've seen in a while

I'd love to build one with all the modern comforts

Siege jugs for knocking down castle walls.

>your country doesn't have 11th century castles still inhabited by their original family

built in 1180, gravesteen in ghent, flanders

shit forgot foto

I always wondered if mold would be a big problem with a moat

It has modern comfort. No pics of the inside though.

Pretty easily. The church across the street from me has been there since the 12 century.

The United Kingdom has some fantastic castles too, Warwick Castle to pick one has been there for about 1100 years in one form or another.

Nice work though ancient Finns.

Nice, like from a children's fairy tale.

>Nice work though ancient Finns.

kek

We are ancient Norwegians and we created all of Scandinavia

Built in early 13th century by teuton/livonian order.
Protect against lithuanian pagan barbarians, rysskis, danish boipussis,eesti/finnish pagans.

Thanks Based Krauts for building such cool castles.

This one is badass. No neighbour problem.

This is how it looked before it became a ruin

Why do yuropeans care so much about shit built hundreds of years ago?
>Muh history
>Muh stone castles

bitch please where is your country now.

Why are Norwegians such blowhards?

Easy there my snow burdened pal, I was just rustling your jimmies.

>would shell in Empire/10

>bitch please where is your country now.

In heaven

Belvedere Castle, Central Park
c. 1869

I have furniture older than your country. This is not the thread for burgers I'm afraid as we're discussing our the wonders of our heritage.

>Where is your country now
>Norway
>One of the richest countries on the planet.
They're doing just fine I think.

t. nigger

WE

Also don't forget the based châteaux Cathares.

>Why do yuropeans care so much about shit built hundreds of years ago?
as a subhuman you would not understand. its called being proud. the same way a child can be proud of his kickass father, if you had one

Found your heritahe castle

Pretty easily.

towers and walls were 50% taller

WUZ

>tfw born in pennautier
>tfw my family has always been native to carcassonne for as long as records show
>tfw my ancestors are the defenders of france from the mudslime hordes

Oh also, 11th century A.D. and the last two walled city in all of europe.

The entire interior retains the cobbled streets and homes but they are outfitted with modern amenities. The castle has insane defences and could not be defeated, even by the pope.

Realistically Halifax can't hold a torch to any of these, but here's Citadel Hill for a laugh.

ssh lets not rustle the Europeans too much. We have to celebrate them for their wonderful stone monuments while we are going to space n shit.

Getting food and water up there must've been rough

>mfw burgers try to compete

A NON COUNTRY

KNIHGTZ N SHIEEET

>tfw my local castle is almost rubble

Fuck off cunt

> Chenonceau

>Citadel

>bigger and more structurally sound than any other European castle
>Built thousands of years before

Can Europeans even compete?

> Chantilly

no competition

Fellow Haligonian

Not sure, these castle were hardly conquered.

...

Why don't you post "Romanz n Stercore"

If it had a few tall towers in the center it'd be sinister as fuck.

New McDonald's built in 2016
Are you even trying?

These are too big and lavish to be comfy

I'm not saying I wouldn't possibly kill to live in these, though

We are fine.
Btw could you please name some US pre colombian structures? The cliff Palace looks like something i would love to visit

Like I said, it can't hold a torch.

...

I'm actually in Chester, but I find my way into the city pretty frequently. Good health to you, Halifriend!

Trying to keep it medieval

The Nords beat the 'muricans in McDonald's building?

How can this be?

Trying...
(kek)

The cliff dwellings are fascinating. What most photos don't really convey is how goddamn tiny the inhabitants must have been. Even as a kid when I was under 5'8" I felt like a giant visiting them in Arizona. I'm not sure if that was due to poor nutrition on their part or just evolutionary pressure against being tall when your whole town is tucked up into a hole in a cliff.

that may be the most beautiful thing I have ever seen

...

Based non Arab Egyptians working those former merchants to death for the glory of kek. What's not to like.

>Norwegian fortress built in 1308

Castillo de San Marcos built from 1672 to 1695, to defend glorious La Florida.

Castle of Häme, built at the end of the 13th century.

>tfw no fortress in capital city

I didn't realise those Japanese planes had cameras attached to them.

>you will never stand on those wall in full-plate fighting the foreign hordes

>Have exactly 1 billion aircraft carriers
>Constantly fight wars against landlocked third world countries who don't even have a hint of having an airforce or navy
>Lose anyway
>Americans

St Augustine is a great place to visit

Don't say stuff like that

It hurts my soul

>fight against shitty third world nation with an airforce and nave
>still almost lose
>be proud of it
>you

Anus

/comfy/ coming through

You should consider the lesson given by the old stones, my wall-fag friends.

Sorry nordbro. Stay /comfy

>colonise most of the world
>have the biggest empire the world has ever seen
>export civilisation to mud men
>people still associate Britain with the height of manners and class
>the feeling of waking up every morning in our majesty's green and pleasant land knowing that God smiles on us
>you will never know true pride like us

Raasepori castle from the 14th century.

Used to be on a small island, but then the river dried up, land started rising and a forest grew around it.
Then it was abandoned.

I like that design, it practically screams "Fuck off!"

why did you brits love castles so damn much?

>you will never know true pride like us

Maybe not. But we still have major pride in our country for some reason. I don't know why, but it's part of all Norwegians. Pretty weird.

*Yawn*

Pretty safe to say that's not all from the 14th century.

That slope looks slippery as hell

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boldt_Castle

What's not to love?

Construction started in 870
Finished in 1929 because there's always shit to improve
