Well yeah they put a shit tonne of emphasis on reservists and cut a ton of regiments.

Now they realise that there are only so many people that will become reservists but there are always people who want to be full time so they are back pedalling and recruiting like crazy.

I'm joining the Royal Regiment of Scotland and I get my phase 1 date 2 weeks after selection, normally it's 2-3 months before you go to training so that shows how desperate they are.

Northerner (Cumbria) here. Can confirm we're dirt poor. Road surfaces are abysmal (including some of the main routes through the county, like the A590 and A595). Unless you're lucky enough to get into Sellafield or BAE, there's very little work out outside of hospitality or social care, which are both shit lines of work with shit pay. House prices are dirt cheap, but a lot of people cannot even get on the property ladder due to low wages and low/zero hour contracts.

Pretty abysmal tbqh lads.

As the graph says, we're rich enough to not receive assistance, but we're poor enough where it's still an issue for us personally.
