I'll agree to that. I'm working on a path towards clinical psychology now, and more than half my fellows and a good number of the teachers seem to have fallen hard into believing psychology is some sort of magic field that can give us the answers to literally everything.

Of the Republican candidates Cruz and Paul were probably the best debaters and the most willing to engage Trump on those issues, it didn't do them much good. I do disagree with the idea of psychology being a psuedoscience though. The only reason this endures is because of how young psychology is and that people can get away with being snake oil salesmen specializing in things like "positive psychology". Meanwhile you have evolutionary psychologists, clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists all operating off of the same scientific rules of observation and data gathering as everyone else. It also doesn't help that researchers like to bend the data to fit their theory better, and despite that being a problem in literally all fields of science, people in other fields like to point to it like it invalidates the entire field. A more accurate statement would be that within the field of professional psychologists, there exist many frauds and people practicing pseudoscience, but psychology itself is still a science.
