Honestly, they don't hammer down geography that much, or, at least they didn't in my schools. I think I remember taking a test ONCE to name the locations and capitals of all 50 states, but that was it.

As a whole, the education I received obviously doesn't reflect the education all Americans receive, but mine was very piss poor and I still consider myself a bit deficient when it comes to my understanding of world history and geography.
