The world is held together by systems, groups, rules. So when you come up with a lie, or an argument, for use on mass basis, you apply it to groups. It's actually kinda funny that people don't see that one of the reasons the Nazi party rose to power, was because of the many genocides, famines and wars perpetrated by the Soviet Union in eastern Europe during the interwar years. Yeah, this is my impression as well. I started reading in-depth about the war in the early 2000s, and was shocked to realize how utterly inhuman the Red Army was. One of the things that made me sympathize with the nazis wasn't really the fact that I thought they were innocent people who never committed any war crimes, but the fact that the Soviets were so much worse. The individual German soldiers came off as normal, western men to me. I could see myself in them. They weren't inherently bad on an individual level, but were just normal, young men in their 20s. The Red Army, on the other hand, seems like an army of rapists and murderers. They didn't kill and rape because they were ordered to, but because they liked it. That's the key difference between the Soviets and the Nazis in my book. The Soviets committed atrocities because they were evil and enjoyed it, while the Germans did it because they were ordered to. And yes, I am exaggerating, and I have no idea what proportion of each army was good or bad, but my point still stands.
It also corresponds well with my real life experiences with Russians and Germans. More or less every Russian I've met has been a violent drunk, while every German I've met has been polite to a fault, well educated and hard working.

I used to think that many traditional values were antiquated, but as I grow older, I notice that they serve a purpose beyond being purely ritual. Again, on the surface it can seem logical that people shouldn't be morally shamed by having sex with multiple partners, but research shows that promiscuous women are more likely to be depressed, suffer from anxiety, abuse drugs and are considerably more likely to be unfaithful in a relationship. So yeah, many of the traditional values that you can logically argue against, actually seem to serve a deeper purpose.

Another thing I want to mention is that a socialist welfare system only work in a society with a homogeneous population and traditional values that shame people into not exploiting the welfare system. Once you extend this system to people who don't belong here and have never contributed to society, it just falls apart. That's not what it was made for. One problem with traditionalism is to not fall into the trap of thinking that what we have today is representative of what we had in the past. For instance, I recently read a lament by an older American who remember Christianity from the past, and he says current day Christianity is different. There was no drive for creationism in his time, and it looked like science and religion could sit in the same room without bickering. This changed, but many modern Christians will claim this appeal to tradition. But it would be wrong, because they espouse a form of Christianity that is, in essence, progressive. Because it has never done before.

This locks into a criticism I have of left wing progressivism: The repackaging of old stuff, and selling it as new. For instance, I believe in universal healthcare, because I think it's any person's right to be healthy. But so did the Catholics, who used to run tons of hospitals, all staffed by nuns, before it became a state thing. So clearly that idea is not linked to any ideology in particular. Socialism just moved in on it because they wanted to oust Christianity, and Catholicism in particular, in Western Europe.

But yes, systems tend to arise because they work, and overthrowing them with some new ideology is hubris. It's cult-like behaviour. It's much better to analyze why they work, and to use that. This is the mistake the West has been making for years in the Middle East and the rest of the world. And the left is particularly strong in making this mistake, with their emphasis of "progress". For instance, just ending colonialism overnight left Africa a mess.

Well, one of the reasons I rebelled against Christianity was because of its illogical and often contradictory nature. But as I said, the situation isn't as hopeless as it looks. The world changes in unexpected ways, something I can personally attest to. Just the last couple of years have given me renewed hope, as I've never seen this kind of resistance to immigration and left-wing politics in my life. A lot of the guilt and self-flagellation that I've grown up with has started to disappear form society, and more and more people are speaking up. Cred Forums and even gamergate are also great signs of the changing times.
I've been on the internet since the late 90s, and my views haven't changed a bit. But I always felt isolated. No matter what community I joined, there were almost no one who shared my views. However, in the past few years, there's been a revolution. Now I find people who share my views everywhere. It's almost become mainstream, and even when lefties try to shame me, there are so many other who share my view that people will always come to my defense. I've always had to argue against these assholes alone, but no more. Most of the time, we outnumber them.

I've also noticed this when I go out drinking. More and more people are critical of immigration, and surprisingly a lot of women as well. I often try to be careful when talking about politics, but end up pleasantly surprised and even shocked when I meet women who just open up about how much they hate socialists.

Also, it just takes one big terrorist attack from ISIS for all of this to change. One nuke. One chemical weapon. One more 9/11. Anything big enough, and both Europe and the US will flip and turn against these brown assholes.
