Cynicism cool among millennials?

Why is having a depressed and cynical outlook a fashionable trend among millennials?

Because theyve never worked a day in their life.

>cultural marxism
>cultural relativism
Nothing is True, Everything is Relative
If you believe in anything, you're a fool.
voila

It really fucking isn't. Every one I meet is boying with off-the-mark optimism, and when I break it down into the truth, they just shrug and carry on

they're idiots

17-22 year olds that have invaded this place from the Donald have destroyed it

>parents cook and clean for them
>wipe their asses

>muhh cynicism

This.

Because everyone and everything you ever loved will become shit and disappoint you.

Have you considered that they genuinely have no hope for their future?
Why do you assume it's a fashionable trend?

Because thanks to shitlibs they are growing up in a culture that is literally insane and actually evil.

Thank God they are cynical!

Shut the fuck i can be cynical if I want

House prices unpayable.
Every country has massive debt.
Looking at becoming a minority.
Old people will expect us to pay for their old day.

We're born f*cked and hopeless. Why even try to fight it?

>I'm not like all those other millenials

These threads always turn into millenis on Cred Forums stroking theimselves to orgasm

It isn't cynicism and it isn't a fashion trend.

The realist perspective of millennial reality is that we're fucked by those who came before us.

sorry that was a little over your head. i'm not here to educate you, fucking unterfaggot

>Makes you seem "smarter"/"mature"
>It's more pretentious
>Condescending/patronizing
>You can claim the upper hand because anyone who looks at things with hope are "dumb"

These pictures are so fucking weird, is it the same guy who takes them all?

Things are going to be worse for us than it was for the last 3 generations. That's non-debatable. Even if everything went right from this day forward, it has to get worse before it gets better.

>a little over my head

Please tell me then what was so incredibly complex

Probably because by and large we live in the most peaceful and prosperous time in Human history to date, and it isn't enough for them.

did you just post a fucking picture of some fucking greek/roman philosopher?! LOL
ok guy. you're right.

>Roman philosopher

That's not a philosopher. You better go look up a YouTube video about it

you fuckin wat m8?

It's not because we're prosperous... 9/11 did something to us mentally. We saw all the wars on tv, but didn't know why the fuck they were happening.

Chaos in the liberal celebrity-focused media. Violence in media. Over-accessibility to porn, which fucks with peoples' heads. WW3 imminent; sure to be the biggest war of all time.

>peaceful and prosperous

No. A different kind of war is going on, and it's one for the mind.

Teens have always been angsty and cynical. However, Twitter, etc. are relatively very new phenomena.

Have you read a news article recently? Half of them are just 'reporters' posting links to Tweets. What is the only demographic that uses Twitter? Angsty teenage retards.

This will all go away in a few years.

>it's another "millennial" thread

I don't get it. Did the demographic here shift from edgy teens and 20somethings to AARP members?

No, that would be boomers

cynical times - cynical looks

/thread

I think it's because cynicism gives people the appearance of being intelligent without actually being it.

This

Everything is going to be relative
Values are relative today and some people think that values are good only in certain condition
Therefore those people don't have any values at all
Their values are just excuses

Pluralism of values is death of all values
And new leftist values only stand against old traditional values
They aren't values, they are only absence of values.
Leftist values as tolerance, social justice etc have to be widespread and used for few generations to be considered as values at all

>Understanding how Fucking hopeless the current climate is is somehow bad

Because the previous generation has deliberately run the country into the ground.
Don't get me wrong, I hate my generation, most of us are pieces of shit. But the people currently in power are doing everything possible to destroy the American way of life.

The good news is that our generation is physically incapable of running the country. There id going to be some kind of major collapse in the next 10-20 years.

Being a pessimist is my superpower.

>Work in engineering department of store fixture company
>talking to coworkers about the safety of the fixtures, get ignored
>Overbuild the fuck out of my fixtures, those things will outlast humanity
>Fixture designed by the employee who dismissed my comments the most comes back with one side completely covered in blood
>The mechanism on the side ended up chopping off a finger of one of the people working at the store where it was installed
>Gave her the biggest "I told you so" of her life

Shit is going to fail. Knowing where and how lets you prepare for it.

You think i'm cynical because its fashionable?

My cynicism alienates people, there's nothing fashionable about it. Nobody wants to look at the world for what it is. So you can fuck off, or pass around whatever antidepressants youre on.

>Peaceful
>Prosperous
How is any of that good in long term? NEETs are living peaceful, (assuming they are not wasting money on trash) prosperous lives. And why are they not happy? Because their lives are meaningless. What's the purpose of life in capitalistic, globalistic world if you already achieved everything from material standpoint? Earlier generations generally didn't have existential problems. They strived for better life, and had a setback in form of war once a while. War gets people to appreciate the worth of life and weeds out the weak. Did you know that PTSDs and the like are mostly modern stuff? Nowadays people are too used to their luxurious ways, what else they need to do?

the donald is an outcropping of this board. perhaps back to tumblr with you?

This

Everyone likes to bitch about cynicism yet I never see that anywhere out and about. It's all be happy, never say what's wrong!

A very very large outcropping

"stop being so negative"

Because they aren't Christians. Libs are also known for their cynicism, who also aren't christian. Also when Europe was traditionalist and Christian before WWI, Europe was well recorded to an extremely friendly and joyous place.

That's the whole point of the gospel, if you don't beleive it's good news, you wont be happy. Good news is happy news user

their parents can't promise them a brighter future than their own

shit's fucked and it's not their fault

they're bombarded with more information than any generation ever

they've abandoned traditional value systems for themselves but simultaneously defend others' rights to have traditional (backwards) value systems and feel ashamed of themselves.

they've been literally cucked into looking after a dogshit world they didn't create full of ideologies that hate them.

young people have always been cynical because they think its a grown up thing

its nothing new

e.g. "on youthful cynicism" from 1930

nope. same age group
this way Cred Forums gets to act like contrarian as fuck.
they are not liberal and depressed like their peers who think they are so smart and cool.fucking degenerates!

but they are not conservative like mommy and daddy. they are stupid cucks!
so they take the views of gam gam and pop pop. they are old and like have seen stuff like racism.

remember how much /n/ and /news/ shitted on dubya and the right when they were in office?

Millennial here. I don't know about it being "cool" but I've been cynical for years. If others are cynical it's probably for similar reasons.

I was born in 1990, raised into a prosperous decade, and the first half of another. We were told to go to university, get a degree and we'd have a great job and all the middle class trimmings. Basically sold the British equivalent of the American dream.

Our teachers, parents and politicians told us to do this. They warned us if we didn't, we'd be stuck working dead end jobs. And we don't want to end up working in McDonalds or Starbucks, do we?

Then the crash happened and they're tune changes instantly.

Suddenly it's "Oh when I was your age I was grateful to do any job" and "You should just get a job and work blah blah".

It's like they couldn't grasp that if you spend years brainwashing kids, you can't just break the conditioning. People have to go through the grieving process as they realize their whole world is crashing. Some people still haven't gone through this.

I did manage to get a job after the crash, as I didn't go to uni immediately, but my mistake was actually going because since then the job opportunities have dried up.

I mean is it any wonder people in America are depressed when they have to juggle multiple part time jobs and have student debt always looming over them like the eye of Sauron?

They probably feel like they're stuck in a deep ditch with no way out.

For a lot of them, there is no way out.

So I don't see why you think it's a somewhat trendy thing to do. Would you be a happy little Lemming, grinning from ear to ear, if you found out your generation was going to have lower living standards than the last? After growing up in an age of opulence that promised them everything?

Boomers need to die, seriously.

>Why is having a depressed and cynical outlook a fashionable trend among millennials?

how fucking autistic are you? every generation goes through this phase.

jesus christ

This. I never see visibly depressed people. Most people are happy-go-lucky normies; I desperately wish I had that personality but instead I have a depressed, negative, cynical outlook on life.

The happy go lucky ones are fools. They will accept their serfdom with a smile.

This

This. Cred Forums (and most of Cred Forums for that matter) is extremely contrarian. Whatever is popular/well liked by the masses, Cred Forums users will take the opposing viewpoint just to be edgy and different. Anything that's even remotely liberal is considered degenerate.

>working cures depression
low-IQ low sentience wagecuck coping

Because you have to be to make the dankest memes

Boomerfags have salted the earth and you wonder why we say it's hard to grow crops now.

Gen-Xer here. Nobody handed us shit and we did great.

All the milenials seem to have done is take everything we invented and turn it into a means to complain and look at freaky Asian cartoon porn.

Try building something new instead of crying all over yourself about how your laziness isn't your fault.

>and we did great

By selling the future.

What did you think the debt was?

usdebtclock.org/

Because we know the world is doomed and adopting a nihilistic attitude helps us cope

Depressed people don't go outside as much.

...

Because it's the truth? If you look back at human history in the course of over 5,000 years the only thing that has changed about humans is technology. They're still the same disgusting species that murders, rape, steal, lie, cheat, lazy, etc. and humanity has the ball that I'm suppose to tolerate evil. That I'm suppose to respect them? Respect evil and criminals... You know how insane that is?

>fashionable

It's not, and it's not some fad. It's the way it always has been, for some of us at least.

Yeah. When us Gen-Xers were the same age as milenials are today we were heading up major global financial banking deals.

That's how much more advanced we were.

>Women
>engineering
>man suffers loss of a finger so she gets to play engineer.

Typical of a cuck country

I have worked many days of 10 hour shifts with no break and I am still cynical.

I have worked many days of 10 hour shifts with no break and I am still cynical.

This.

Actually, it's a woman who lost her finger. I think it was her ring finger.

>Nobody handed us shit and we did great.
You, like the boomers, inherited prosperous times, dumb ass.

It's dim witted to suggest we just try building something when those opportunities are drying up like the sahara and banks won't even lend money that people need.

We're not all Elon Musk who gets a loan of $20k from his dad for his first venture.

You need money to get off the ground. Most of us have no money, and can't save the money.

A lot of us will be serfs and muppets like you will be like "dude just work hard bro!" because you won't be able to wrap your head around the fact that your generation were just as moronic as boomers, and that you managed to get the train when there were still enough seats.

There is just way too many sarcasm and cynicism around these days.

When a friend of mine lost his job because the company he worked for went bankrupt, any expression of compassion I could come up with has been used ironically so much that it would all sound like a misplaced joke.

>they don't live in barrels
They're shit tier cynic, wouldn't steal food or publicly masturbate with.

So are millenials and gen z self reflecting? I've seen some based gen z.

Meme sarcasm is apparently all thats left since life just seems like a big joke. People wouldnt buy the nihilism meme if things were actually nice.

>pic related

Because the weak die first in any war and war is always coming. I'll give you that it takes close-to-insane amounts of willpower to jumpstart conviction when you have grown up in Europe through our times (and by that I mean actual conviction rather than passive "hope for the best"), but once you've gotten there it -is- worth every second. For me, personally, actually reading the New Testament for once was what did the trick when I was already screwed. Maybe you can find a way when you leave behind what you think seems sane.

I just have it cause I suffer from depression. I'm trying to get out of it now though so at least there's that.

Entering the workforce right at the first dot com bust. Entering the housing market in 2003 - 2005. Gen-X didn't have it easy.

We also all didn't think we had to be fucking Elon Musk to be happy.

Milenials need to turn off the TV and sign out of Twitter if it keeps making your expectations too high.

Not barrels, but moving into tiny apartments with multiple roommates or tiny homes IF they are lucky.

>17
there's no one under 18 on Cred Forums ok m8

Literally 9/11.

>everything we invented
What did generation X invent? Stepdads? Fuck off.

>It's another FUCKING MILLENNIALS thread

Boomers liquidated everything the Greatest Gen worked for and sold it all off to globalists for a quick buck. That's why Gen X and Y are fucked and why Gen Z will be even more fucked. Stop making these threads.

If you ever think about having a good time just remember, Why would anything good ever happen to anyone?

I have never been disappointed.

I'm a pretty redpilled millennial for the most part, but I know life's too short to sit around with a stick up your ass.

I went through the whole cynical phase in jr. high and it just isn't worth it.

Exactly, we are totally fucked but the ride never ends, the market never truly crashes because it's too manipulated, things are going downhill so slow and subtly that most people don't even notice.

Just fucking look at this shit, wtf can we do against this, apart from hyperinflation fucking the economy so bad that people take to the streets and topples the elites?

rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-60361715.html

teenage angst

honestly

>nobody handed us shit
pretty sure the railroads were up and running by 1980 grandpa

It's always been popular for teens/young adults you dumb nigger.

>teenage
millenials are 30

The Greatest Generation is reincarnating and they're pissed at how bad their kids fucked up the world.

Holy shit do you have any idea where you are, and how ironic this post is?

Because it's easier to be cynical and then happy and surprised when shit goes your way, than to be optimistic and sure of yourself only to have everything blow up in your face.

She is cute as fuck till I saw the pierced nose.

Into the garbage she goes

Don't you dare speak about Soe like that, surprised I'm first one to name her in the thread.

>The millennial age range actually is; it's actually 19 to 35. Also known as almost the entire user base of Cred Forums.

Now being someone stuck pretty much smack dab in the middle of this range offers some fun insight.

First and foremost is outrageously right. A lot of millennials know something is off but have been programmed so thoroughly by our state run everything that they have no idea what's actually going on, don't pay attention to anything, and then just carry on buying the TV-framed picture of "everything is fine", even though most have a gut feel that it isn't fine.

Then you have the problem that so many of us bought the "you have to go to college" bait. Now we have people who are effectively enslaved before they even get started because they have massive, over inflated student loan debt that it will take them years to pay off.

Then you follow it up by the shit job market. There's a 30-something woman who works at the lab my friend works at that has a degree that effectively means she should be working higher up on the food chain of the lab she's already working at... However no one is vacating any of these positions and the company isn't making more. So with her degree and learned skills she's making $12/hour when she's qualified to make x2.5 that easy. In the same building. And you see that all over.

Then lastly you have the future prospects. We already can't afford anything that generations before us took for granted but the "civil rights" activists of various flavors have destroyed families, destroyed gender relationships, destroyed religion, and destroyed how society treats men (especially if you're white). So they have nothing to fight for or care about. Their country has alienated them, their society has rejected them, they have no wives, no children, and no God... And yet they still have all of the expected personal responsibilities and expectations from 50 years ago. So we check out, stop caring, and become cynical assholes.

Attention.

The hyperinflation is coming and it's going to be ugly.

French revolution tier ugly.

Either it will happen on it's own, or it will happen alongside the student loan bubble popping, and everything will go down in flames.

Happy people are just better at pretending. Mingle enough with anybody and you will eventually see how shitty they really feel. It's just that the majority of people don't want to give up. As long as you think it's better to be alive than dead, why not pursue happiness at all cost, even if the world is a shitty place?
Everyone feels like shit all the time, depressed people just give up.
True happy go lucky people are really few, they are great and generally makes everyone around them happier, because they understand that as long as they want to be alive, then, why worry? They are not idiots, they accept and deal with the shitty parts of life while they live to the fullest. Sadness is to be experimented and leave behind. They are the truly wise, and the strongest of the bunch.

Sigh, that old argument that work will fix all skewed intellectual points of view. Work hammers the slave-mind you until you succumb and ask for more.

cause our race got sold out by traitors

and by the time im elderly, if thing keep up, there wont be a single white country left

It's always been something like that. The cool guy who smokes even though its bad for you, the standoffish feminist from the 80s/90s, the angst ridden teenager.

It's a trend and it's not just for millennials. The people who make these threads must be under the age of 25. Anybody remember being depressed and cynical being cool in the 90s? The 80s?

Cred Forums has really gone to shit lately.

because they're being brainwashed to be helpless agencyless slaves and happy about it

How's the new game coming along, James?

I've worked since I was 15. I'm on a 10 hour swing shift. Fuck you.

Their parents make manchildren out of them. Real parenting would be teaching their kids how to be independent, but that is hard, requires effort and knowledge. It's easier to just cook one extra meal and clean couple of clothes extra than to teach young human being how to human properly in todays society. How ever you want to look at it, it's parents fault.

because that goes hand in hand with the left

I can't remember the exact article but some swede user posted an article that said the government was warning people to watch out for blonde "cheerful and happy" families, because chances are they are fascists.

Right wing people are happy. Left wing people are depressed

Gen-Xers invented everything that was once good about the Internet, only to see it ruined by milenials with Reddit, Tinder, Twitter and 5 million other lame distractions that you kids distract yourselves with instead of improving your life.

Implying that wasn't always fashionable among youth.

Because thanks to feminazi affirmative employment cartels lying is such a part of everyday life for women that taking something seriously is a sign of weakness for these fucking terrorist sluts to parrot all day like they're going somewhere with anything they've ever thought in their goddamn shell of a life

> implying people being observant is fashionable.

Our society is fucked. Don't know if you've noticed.

It's probably because they don't visit Cred Forums

I used to be bluepilled once, and had the millenial idea of 'reach the stars, everything's going to be fine'!! xD

>Nobody handed us shit

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH

Because they live in a world of pure materialism. They have a view on it put it's not in practice.

This. Generation X was the height of depression and cynicism, and no one even cares about it anymore, which is oddly fitting.

This. It's fashionable to take absolutely nothing seriously and to be sarcastic about everything. What's funny is that when you one-up them at this game, they start getting paranoid as hell.

They really aren't

I can't stand the excessive cheerfulness and positivity of normies here, they're so naive and ignorant as to just how fucked things are
