On the whole though, Trump didn't resort to name calling or belittling, his previous forte, and he made several coherent policy proposals that were relevant to the topic. She tempered her smugness well, although it came across a few times, but the repeated calling out to "fact-checkers" seemed pleading. Clinton won. If there is any measure for the debates. But it was not a blow out or slaughter like her candidacy needs. She left Trump not much worse off than he was before the 1st debate. She missed the opportunity to wound his campaign, and he failed to completely drop the ball. Debates 2 and 3 are likely to see a calmer, more eloquent Trump as he settles into the debate procedures and expectations.

That being said, there was a VERY strong bias against Trump, with multiple targeted questions being thrown at him by the moderator, whereas Clinton did not have to answer to discussion on Benghazi, her hiring of the disgraced DNC chairman, really ANY of the meat of the email controversy, her foundation and the evidence of pay to play politics, her health and subsequent lies and cover up, really anything at all concerning her truthfulness. Trump was put on the defensive early and only briefly floundered his head above water after the first twenty minutes. I am very disappointed with how little Clinton was probed compared to Trump. That is only going to solidify and entrench his voters.

I foresee Clinton getting a 2-3 point boost, which should remain steady unless Assange comes through with some more juicy dirt.
