That same quality, to me, made him look like he didn't know what he was doing and was making things up as he went. Part of being president is preparation for difficult tasks, and outside of whatever they did or didn't talk about during the debate, Trump looked like he didn't prepare, and that makes it look like he didn't take the debate seriously. And if you don't take the debate seriously, you don't look like you want to be president as much as your opponent. It's why people in high school debate favor debate styles where you have a written case instead of a style like extemp where you have to think quickly off the top of your head. Hillary is a lazy, typical politician who needs to have her answers memorized to do well.
