Bump because really high and want to do this right now so I can shot post when the interwebz go down yo

hey it works, just got a message

try again tomorrow

Although encrypted, all your messages are stored online. This doesn't seem like a good idea.

peer 2 peer is shitty as fuck and has known security problems. i dont trust people in companies to list bug juice as what it is instead of natural flavors on processed food. why would i trust some randoms i dont know that might be from tumblr

THIS IS HOW CTR INTENDS TO COLLECT YOUR IPs

> peer 2 peer is shitty as fuck and has known security problems

tell me more, what are the "known security problems"

>all your messages are stored online
>doesn't seem like a good idea
Please understand the concept first before you critizise it.

I'm a user, I don't have to understand the inner workings of a piece of tech before I develop an attitude toward it. My buddy sent me the link to the wiki last month and it said user messages are stored online, in fragmented pieces, and encrypted.

It "feels" like an entity with a lot of resources *could* collect all the pieces and crack them at their leisure. Does bitmessage have a foolproof system to prevent that? Maybe, but I have too much shit to do to grok it.

So for now, having my super secret private messaging software permanently store my messages online makes me uneasy.

ok, let me explain

Are messages stored "online" aka in the p2p network? - Yes they are, but you can decide the time (max. 28 days). But they are encrypted with modern technology and therefore noone - even the nsa can't read your messages.

>Bitmessage is in need of an independent audit to verify its security. If you are a researcher capable of reviewing the source code, please email the lead developer. You will be helping to create a great privacy option for people everywhere!
Shit isn't even audited yet.
>I-it's safe though I swear!

it is far more 'safe' and secure than 4chin.

That CTR log is trolling BS. That's B-Movie dialog and it's unthinkable they'd have those sorts of tools.

It's very likely though that someone would post something like that to breed some paranoia here to make fags think twice before posting.
