The idea behind the selling of our gold is that you need to take into consideration how Trudeau went back on his promise to back out of the expensive F-35 programs.
At the time of the gold sale, our annual payment for the program was due, $116 million. What was sold? $100 million worth of gold. That only leaves a small payment in cash towards the program unless they basically wiped their hands with that annual payment and took it in full.
Why? Because gold is a key component needed for the manufacturing of the F-35 electronics. It's a win win how you look at it. The manufactures get cheap gold, Canada gets that annual payment cleared away.
It's obvious why the gold sale was done and like it or hate it, it's technically a good deal.
