Where I work, which I assume is typical of big i.t firms, there is a big agenda to automate lots of jobs. On top of that traditional server based work is moving into the cloud. Hiring domestic workers is becoming too much of an expense for most businesses. No IT job is guaranteed to be secure. Anything that involves technician jobs, programming, network / sys-administrative jobs, help desk, or even project managers is vulnerable of being shipped over to foreign countries or given to foreign workers on visas. I work in IT myself, I see how the industry is changing.
