But then along comes something like Brexit, or the Syrian refugees, or over throwing Assad, or stirring up stuff between Russia. It's "non-biased" in that they don't have as obvious a bias as say the gaurdian does.
But the placement of articles on their website is so fucking obvious. Before the EU referendum pro-remain events were always top page news whilst leave ones were down below.

I usually do a rule of three. I hear about something on a news site or here. I will start at one end of the spectrum like Mother Jones or VICE. Read about the same story on BBC and then see if someone like Drudge or infowars got a hold of it as well. If all 3 report, I can often filter and form an 'informed' opinion. If one or more outlet is missing the story, it makes me suspect.

BBC has failed to report on several things recently that could potentially be firecrackers if they divulged, say, the race/origin of a perpetrator or they completely fail to bring up a scandal that they may have been involved in. Ah well. Still more balanced than anything you can get in the States.
