If Trump wins there will likely be a tilt towards the Democrats, and the Republicans will actually be weaker in the long run for it.

So many establishment conservatives were extremely reluctant to endorse Trump. It took Cruz until AFTER the RNC to do so. There are many still holding out today who refuse to endorse him.

But at this point what choice do they really have? He is their nominee, thanks largely in part due to the dumbass far right voters that fell for his banter and chose their candidate based on high school zingers than actual qualifications. They got caught up in zeal and didn't realize that Trump had terrible odds in a general election once he was really put under pressure by an opponent that wouldn't pull punches.

But really the other issue was that the GOP just presented terrible competition for Trump. Jeb was too weak and had no presence, Rubio was young and somewhat promising but too inexperienced, Christie is shadowed by scandals and overshadowed by Trump, and Ted Cruz is the same dull bible thumper that has failed time and time again. They needed a smart, modern, respectable Republican candidate that eschewed the values of hard work and nativity without dipping into Christianity or right wing banter shit too hard.

So anyways...all of that combined means that the GOP essentially either let's Hillary win straight up in some hope to distance themselves from Trump long term, or throw everything in behind their retard candidate in the hopes that they get their foot in the door through him. They chose the second choice.
