If you're just an intelligent guy and is not prepared for this, it's fucking shocking. They depress you in a matter of minutes - then you just do what you're told to and try to stay away from the sight of commanders. Though now I understand it's not the end of times, back then I used to have nightmares about having to do another week or two for like half a year after it all finished.

And I was an officer trainee during peace time in a group where the commanding officers knew there were kids with some connections. It wasn't even close to being a simple soldier (they lived in the same building as we, on the other floors), never mind during war time, where they'll execute you to make an example for the others instead of yell at you.
